Abstract

Jumlah penduduk semakin meningkat menyebabkan tumpukan sampah (sayuran dan buahan) meningkat. Sampah organik maupun anorganik melimpah.

Abstract

The productivity of porang plants in Buton Island is influenced by varying environmental conditions across different locations, leading to inconsistent yields. The objective of this study was to explore the population and productivity of porang plants in distinct environments on Buton Island. This study used field surveys and secondary data collection to assess plant density to evaluate growth conditions. The collected data were analyzed using simple statistics and displayed on a population map. The results showed that there were 17 porang cultivation locations spread across five sub-districts with a population of 35.000-60.000. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of site-specific agricultural strategies for optimizing porang productivity. This research impacts sustainable agricultural practices, particularly in regions with varying environmental condition

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity was carried out in Tanjung Sari Village, Pengandonan District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU), to improve the knowledge and skills of farmers/breeders in utilizing goat urine waste as raw material for liquid organic fertilizer (POC). The main problem of the community is the dependence on chemical fertilizers and the lack of optimal use of livestock waste that has the potential to pollute the environment. The implementation method is carried out through counseling, training, and demonstrations of making POC using local ingredients (goat urine, ginger-turmeric-galangal rhizomes, EM4, dolomite, shrimp paste, and molasses). POC is fermented for two weeks and applied to corn and vegetable crops at a dose of 200 ml/L of water. Field observations showed that plants that were given POC had greener leaves, stronger stems, and more uniform growth compared to controls without POC. This activity improves farmers' practical skills in producing organic fertilizers independently and encourages productive livestock waste management.

Abstract

Optimization of purple pakcoi vegetable cultivation can be done through the management of environmental factors such as shade and watering intervals. This study aims to determine the effect of shade and watering intervals on the growth and yield of purple pakcoi. The experiment used a split-plot design with two factors. The main plot consisted of: N0 (no shade), N1 (50% shade), and N2 (75% shade). The subplots consisted of: P1 (watering every day), P2 (watering every 2 days), and P3 (watering every 3 days). The variables observed were: plant height, number of leaves, fresh shoot weight, dry shoot weight, fresh root weight, dry root weight, shoot-root ratio, and SPAD value. The results showed that the highest average values of each variable were: plant height 34,55 cm; number of leaves 10; fresh shoot weight 96 g; dry shoot weight 3,7 g; fresh root weight 2,4 g; dry root weight 0,32 g; shoot-root ratio 14%; and a SPAD value of 38. Plants grown under 75% shade showed good tolerance to reduced light intensity. These findings suggest that purple pakcoi has the potential to be cultivated in confined urban areas and as an intercrop to improve land use efficiency.
