Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of small-sided game (SSG) training through the interval method on increasing alactasid anaerobic capacity in soccer athletes aged 17-18 years. The research method used is an experiment with a pre-experimental approach. The research subjects were Persib Academy athletes aged 17-18 years as many as 50 people. The results obtained from the initial observation stated that 10 athletes had low anaerobic alactasid levels, so the number of samples used in this study was 10 people and the technique used was purposive sampling. SSG training is applied with variations in intensity and duration, combined with mixed training methods involving anaerobic and aerobic loads. Anaerobic capacity measurements were conducted using the Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST). Data were analyzed by statistical test of inferential analysis with t-test at 5% significant level to determine the significance between variables. The results showed that respondents who underwent SSG training with the interval method experienced a significant increase in alactasid anaerobic capacity. SSG training not only improves physical ability, but provides tactical and technical stimulus relevant to actual game situations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between maximum strength and jump height and agility of badminton athletes. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach method with a correlational type. The sample in this study was the UPI Badminton UKM consisting of 12 athletes. The instruments used in this study were (1) Maximum strength test (maximum repetition), (2) Jump height test (Vertical jump), (3) Agility test (Shuttle run). Based on the Pearson correlation analysis, the results showed that maximum repetition had a significant positive relationship with vertical jump with a value of (r = 0.584, p = 0.065). Likewise, maximum repetition had a significant positive relationship with agility with a value of (p = -0.216, P = 0.501). However, the results of the regression analysis showed that these variables did not have a significant relationship with jump height and agility of badminton athletes. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that maximum strength training can help increase the jump height of badminton athletes. However, to improve agility, a more specific training strategy is needed that focuses on aspects other than maximal strength.

Abstract

Introduction: The growing popularity of badminton globally underscores the importance of developing basic motor skills from an early age. Components such as speed, agility, balance, coordination, reaction time, and endurance are the main foundations that support an athlete's performance, especially in meeting the technical and physical demands of badminton. Objectives: This study aims to identify and describe the basic motor skills profile of 6 – 12 years old badminton athletes at the PB SGS PLN club in Bandung as a basis for evaluating and designing early age training programs. Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 35 athletes selected through purposive sampling. Basic motor skills were measured using six instruments: 10-meter sprint (speed), zig-zag run (agility), stork stand (balance), ball throw-catch (coordination), ruler drop test (reaction time), and beep test (endurance). Result: The results of the measurements show a consistent pattern of improvement in basic motor skills with increasing age. Older children demonstrate higher performance in all motor aspects compared to younger age groups, reflecting natural physical and neuromuscular development during the growth period. Conclusion: These findings emphasize the importance of designing training programs that are appropriate for children's developmental stages. In addition, the results of this study can be used as a practical reference for coaches in optimizing the training of young athletes in a gradual and targeted manner according to the age and motor skills of each individual.

Abstract

Football in Indonesia has a weakness, namely their physical condition is less able to survive for 90 minutes in the game. This is closely related to the player's endurance. When a football player has good VO2max endurance, it will be very easy to maintain his performance in playing, unlike when a player does not have good endurance, it will affect his game, fatigue causes a decrease in performance in the match. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is aerobic capacity support for anaerobic alactasid training (speed endurance) in football. The method used in this study is descriptive quantitative. The sampling used in this study was non-probability with a purposive sampling technique. Twenty UPI Football UKM students took part as participants in this study. There are 2 types of tests carried out, namely; (1) Aerobic Capacity Testing (VO2Max) with the Balke test research instrument, (2) 30 m short-distance running training with a total of 10 x maximum repetitions with a predetermined rest time. The data obtained from the test results were then analyzed using SPSS software version 23, namely using the normality test and correlation test. From the results of data processing, the Sig value of the relationship between the VO2Max variable and the Speed Endurance variable is 0.000, which means the Sig value <0.05 and the correlation value is 0.845. So it can be concluded that there is a very strong positive relationship between the VO2Max variable and Speed Endurance.

Abstract

The post-pandemic era has transformed athletes’ training habits, with social media emerging as a vital medium that supports independent training among student athletes. Despite its growing use, limited studies have examined its post-pandemic impact. This study aims to explore how social media contributes to athletes’ motivation, consistency, and independence in training when traditional facilities have resumed. Method: Using a qualitative design, eight student athletes were purposively selected. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model to identify key themes. Findings reveal that social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube serve as alternative learning spaces for technical, physical, and mental training. They enhance flexibility, motivation, and engagement. Social media significantly supports self-directed learning and motivation, complementing conventional training methods while fostering independence, discipline, and innovation among student athletes in the post-COVID-19 context .
