Abstract

The purpose of this training is to achieve the following objectives; 1) Share information on government literacy initiatives. 2) Assist teachers in finding affordable and reliable sources for textbooks through literacycloud.org. 3) Support teachers in conducting research that can be published in journals. 4) Fulfilling the community service obligation of an institution. This training took place at TK ABA 3 Randegan in Tanggulangin Sidoarjo. It involved 18 teachers and the principal. The training used methods of lecture, question and answer, practicum, discussion using applications and online article searches. The trainees used their cell phones and leptops. The team responsible for implementing the program determined that the digital literacy training went according to plan and achieved its goal of improving participants' digital literacy skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence or absence of Digital Storytelling on the Story Writing Skills of Class II Elementary School Students. This study used a quantitative approach. This type of research is pre-experimental design with the one group pretest posttest design method. The sample is 25 students. The instrument is a test in the form of an essay question. The results obtained are sig. (2-tailed) (0.00) < 0.05 means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So it can be concluded that Digital Storytelling in writing stories for class II students can influence students' writing skills for the better. As for the value of how much influence is received, a value of 0.76 is obtained. This value is greater than criteria table, which is 0, 14 so it is stated that the use of Digital Storytelling has a great influence on the story writing skills of class II elementary school students. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide knowledge and insight about other learning innovations in the ability to write stories for future researchers.

Abstract

Problems with partners related to children's reading interest and literacy are very complex, therefore its implementation cannot be separated from all parties who must work together and work together, especially parents and teachers. The purpose of implementing science and technology for the community for KB teachers of TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal (ABA) is to improve the quality and potential and literacy thinking skills so that students have the provision of soft skills and hard skills in growing children's love of reading. The program that will be implemented is focused on aspects of developing the quality of early childhood teachers through improvement and improvement in the field of teaching so that it can foster a child's love of reading. In its delivery, an effective method is needed in accordance with the child's development. Early childhood, especially Kindergarten (TK) can be introduced to the Read Aloud method which generally means reading stories aloud. In a complex way, this method reads stories in picture books or in digital children's stories applications in a loud voice, so that it can help focus attention and raise questions and design discussions. The Read Aloud method combines elements of images and sounds that are sure to be interesting for children, making it easier for teachers to stimulate speaking or language skills in children. The implementation of this community service was carried out in April 2020, at the KB TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Sambiroto. The stages in this training activity include basic knowledge about reading stories aloud (Read Aloud method), training in reading aloud (Read Aloud) and then continuing with the use of digital libraries for early childhood. With the Read Aloud training and the use of digital libraries for KB Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten teachers, it is hoped that it can be useful for teachers to improve teaching, increase teaching materials, and as an effort to fix and improve the quality of teaching staff, and infrastructure in KB Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten. Abstract

Objective : This article reports on a community service program aimed at enhancing the creativity and digital literacy of elementary school English teachers through the integration of child-friendly digital media. Method : The program, implemented in collaboration with elementary school English teachers in Sidoarjo, involved 23 elementary school English teachers who participated in hands-on training using Canva, Wordwall, and AI to create digital media aligned with their teaching objectives. The training program employed a mixed-method quantitative approach, combining observations, surveys, and qualitative feedback to explore teacher engagement, digital media, and classroom implementation. Results : The results of this community service program demonstrated the significant potential of child-friendly digital English media to enhance teaching creativity among elementary school English teachers. By integrating technology-based media, such as Canva, Wordwall, and AI into their teaching practices, the 23 participating teachers were able to expand their pedagogical repertoire and begin shifting from conventional approaches to more innovative, interactive, and student-centered ones. Although challenges, particularly time constraints, limited the full implementation of the developed materials, the teachers' increased digital literacy and willingness to explore new methods are promising indicators of professional growth. Novelty : The results of this community service program demonstrated the significant potential of child-friendly digital English media to enhance teaching creativity among elementary school English teachers.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of digital mind mapping media on explanatory text writing skills. The subjects of this study were 25 sixth-grade students at SDN Sepande. Data collection in this study used quantitative pre-experimental data analysis techniques and data collection methods in pre-tests and post-tests to determine the effectiveness of digital mind mapping. Initial data collection in the form of a pre-test involved participants being directed to write explanatory texts on a predetermined topic, followed by a pre-test using digital mind mapping. The study's results showed an increase in students' writing skills during the study, as indicated by changes in the average scores obtained from the pre-test and post-test. The average score in the pre-test was 57.00, while the average score in the post-test was 82.80. Therefore, it can be concluded that sixth-grade students' explanatory text writing skills at SDN Sepande improved after using digital mind mapping.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze elementary students' digital literacy skills using Paul Gilster's digital literacy theory, which encompasses internet searching, hypertextual navigation, content evaluation, and knowledge assembly. The research employed a qualitative case study approach involving fifth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 3 Ikrom. Data were collected through classroom observations and in-depth interviews with three selected students. The findings indicate that students demonstrate basic abilities in accessing and using digital information, particularly in technical operations. However, their skills in evaluating and synthesizing information remain limited and underdeveloped. Therefore, instructional support is needed to strengthen students’ critical, reflective, and integrative thinking skills in the responsible and effective use of digital information in the learning process

Abstract

Research entitled Snakes and Ladders Media on Social Studies Learning for Elementary School Students. This study aims to analyze how the application of snake and ladder learning media in social studies learning for elementary school students. This study uses a qualitative approach. The type of research used is a literature review. The source of data in this study is the theory of secondary data obtained from the results of research that has been carried out by previous researchers. Data collection method using documentation. The data analysis technique in this study used descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the application of snake and ladder learning media can increase students' interest and learning outcomes in social studies. In addition, the snake and ladder learning media can also be applied during a digital-based pandemic.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers' digital literacy in the application of digital storytelling learning in fourth grade. The research approach used is qualitative with interview and observation methods. The research subjects were fourth-grade teachers at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo. The results showed that teachers had good digital literacy competencies, which were reflected in their mastery of functional skills, creativity, collaboration, communication, ability to find and select information, critical thinking and evaluation, cultural and social understanding, and cyber security. Teachers were able to utilize digital technology effectively and creatively in developing digital storytelling learning media that suited the needs of students. In addition, teachers apply a critical attitude in selecting information from the internet and instill ethical values, privacy, and digital security in students. In conclusion, teachers' digital literacy plays a vital role in creating innovative, safe, and meaningful digital storytelling learning, as well as supporting the development of students' critical thinking and digital awareness. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of digital storytelling media on elementary students’ speaking skills. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest format. The sample consisted of 23 third-grade students at SDN Sumbersari 1. Data were collected using a speaking skills test administered before and after the treatment. Data analysis included a normality test and a paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in students’ scores from 72.39 in the pretest to 81.95 in the posttest. Statistical analysis indicated a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, confirming a significant effect. In conclusion, digital storytelling media is effective in improving students’ speaking skills and can be used as an innovative alternative learning medium in elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of reading interest among students through the implementation of a literacy program in grade IV at SD Muhammadiyah 2 Tulangan and to examine the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The participants of this study consisted of classroom teachers, librarians, and fourth-grade students who were selected using purposive sampling. The research data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by applying source triangulation to ensure data validity. The results showed that the reading interest of fourth-grade students was in the moderate category. The implementation of literacy habit-forming programs, which included 15 minutes of reading before class, the use of classroom reading corners, library visits, rewards, mobile library services, and literacy competitions, contributed positively to student engagement in reading activities. Supporting factors include the implementation of a reward system, cooperation between schools and regional mobile libraries, and the implementation of literacy competitions. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited time allocation for literacy activities and low intrinsic motivation among students. The research findings show that the literacy program has been implemented quite well, but it still needs to be strengthened in terms of consistency in order to increase students' interest in reading on an ongoing basis.
