Abstract

This study examines UIN Syekh Wasil Kediri undergraduates' work-related competencies through the Discrepancy Evaluation Model (DEM) lens. Recognizing that modern bachelor‐level programs are increasingly geared toward employability, this evaluative field research employs Provus' DEM framework alongside a convergent mixed‐methods design. Qualitative insights were gathered via interviews, observations, and document analyses, while quantitative data were obtained through a structured questionnaire. A total of 386 students from the PBA, IAT, and PAI programs participated. We adopted Spencer and Spencer's five‐factor competency model to establish performance standards, motives, traits, self‐concept, knowledge, and skills. The questionnaire, developed in collaboration with the Insight Yogyakarta Institute, set a benchmark of 87 points as the minimum acceptable score. The process phase measured student performance, revealing that 51.3% (n = 198) met or exceeded this threshold. Notable gaps emerged in motives (mean = 15.87) and skills (mean = 18.16), attributable to intense labor‐market competition and a curriculum that insufficiently nurtures interpersonal and technical proficiencies. This study contributes to developing recommendations in the form of targeted interventions to improve students' work competencies, namely through motivational seminars and skill development workshops for students and pedagogical development programs for lecturers. This article has implications for enriching work competency theory, curriculum development strategies, and institutional evaluation design.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the construction of knowledge society-based PAI learning models in Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKI). This article was compiled based on qualitative research with a case study type. The locus of this research is UIN SATU Tulungagung and IAIN Kediri. Data collection methods used by researchers are interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive-analysis and content analysis. The flow used in interpreting this research is a qualitative data analysis technique with an interactive model proposed by Miles-Huberman, including the stages of data collection, reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. This article concludes that the competence of lecturers in the use of IT and the various competencies of students are still the biggest obstacles faced by UIN SATU Tulungagung and IAIN Kediri in implementing knowledge society-based PAI learning. In addition, the academic culture on both campuses has not run optimally. The two campuses have the same construction of the knowledge society-based Islamic education learning model, especially in terms of enforcing academic freedom in the lecture process, routinely discussing Islamic religious education lecturers to equalize perceptions in providing inclusive PAI material within the moderation frame, and optimizing the use of IT for Islamic Islamic education lectures. What makes the difference is that UIN SATU Tulungagung implements knowledge society-based PAI learning by applying a collaborative learning model to the lecture process. Meanwhile, IAIN Kediri focuses on implementing the cooperative learning model to optimize PAI learning in the classroom.

Abstract

This article examines the role of learning strategy objects and digital media in calculus instruction within Islamic higher education institutions. The main problem addressed is the low level of student engagement in understanding abstract calculus concepts and the suboptimal use of contextual and interactive learning objects. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach. Data were analyzed descriptively and analytically to explore the function of media, learning objects, and technological innovations in facilitating students' comprehension of limits, derivatives, and integrals. The findings reveal that using instructional objects integrated with technology-based media, such as interactive simulations, concept visualizations through calculus applications, and contextual approaches grounded in Islamic values, enhances students’ conceptual understanding, active engagement, and learning motivation. The study recommends the development of calculus learning media tailored to the context of Muslim learners and the integration of spiritual values into instructional content and methods as part of a progressive Islamic education paradigm.
