Abstract

TBI patients with decreased consciousness will experience decreased sensory and stimulus perception as a result of prolonged hospitalization, immobilization, and social isolation. Therefore, sensory stimulation is needed to increase patient awareness. This study aimed to determine the effects of family-centered auditory and tactile sensory stimulation in patients with TBI. A case study was used to describe the intervention in this study. The study sample was an adult patients with TBI admitted to the intensive care unit. The trained family members provided auditory and tactile sensory stimulation once daily for 1 week. Two instruments were used for data collection, the “Glasgow Coma Scale” and the “Fall Outline of Unresponsiveness Score” to assess the patient’s level of consciousness (LOC). The results showed that implementing organized auditory and tactile sensory stimulation by trained family members was increased the average GCS and FOUR score. Patients in this study showed an increase in LOC with a GCS score of 8-14 and FOUR score of 9-14 on 7 days of intervention. Thus, auditory and tactile sensory stimulation by trained family members enhanced the consciousness of patients with trauma-induced brain injury. This method is recommended for patients with traumatic brain injury.

Abstract

Intra Cerebral hemorrhage is a complication of stroke disease. The typical symptoms in ICH patients are a loss of consciousness and getting long treatment at home. As a result, the patient will lack mobilization and experience muscle stiffness which can aggravate the patient's condition; it will also slow down the patient's healing process and increase the risk of decubitus. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of giving a massage with olive oil to overcome. This study used a case report that described the case of ICH patients with skin and tissue integrity disorders problems given the intervention of massage with olive oil carried out for five days of treatment and carried out one time a day with a duration of 10-20 minutes. The Braden scale was used to measure the level of decubitus consisting of 6 question indicator items. This study found an increase in score on the first day with a score of 11 and on the fifth-day score of 14 with an increase from a severe risk of decubitus to a moderate risk of decubitus in patients. This procedure has proven useful for reducing decubitus in hospital patients with prolonged bed rest.

Abstract

Obesity is one of the considerable medical issues happening all around the world. Obesity has a high rate that makes it one of the reasons for difficulties in adults. People with excess weight should maintain a healthy diet to avoid diseases caused by high obesity. This research analyzes obesity rates in the productive age scope of 20-24 years in 3 nations on the African landmass (Gambia, Cameroon, and Ethiopia) utilizing information from the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) platform from 2018 to 2020. The strategy used to process the data is logistic regression analysis. In this review, four factors are utilized, including living environment, education level of abundance in metropolitan/provincial regions, and occupation. The statistical analysis used here is logistic regression linked to the IBM SPSS Statistic 25 application to identify the factors associated with the Prevalence of obesity in the three countries sampled in the study. From the study results, the Prevalence of obesity in Cameroon country is 14.7%, in the Gambia is 10.8%, and in Ethiopia is 4.4%. From the statistical test using logistic regression, the odds ratio (OR)> 1 means a relationship between these four risk factors and the occurrence of obesity in the 3 sample countries. This study concludes that residence, level of education, wealth index, and work activities directly affect a person's nutritional status, causing obesity.

Abstract

Abstract

The emergence of complications in patients with type 2 DM significantly impacts the quality of life. Resilience as part of self-coping may be connected with the quality of life and the severity of the complications. This study analyzed the correlation between resilience and quality of life in type 2 DM patients with chronic complications. The method was an observational study with a cross-sectional approach. Thirty-five respondents were recruited in this study using a consecutive sampling technique. Data were collected using Connor Davidson Resilience Scale 25 (CD-RISC 25) and Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) questionnaires and analyzed by Pearson Product Moment (p <0.05). The result showed that the mean value of resilience was 63.06 (±12.47), while the average value of quality of life was 72.46 (±11.78). A strong positive correlation existed between resilience and quality of life (p-value = 0.000; r = 0.782). Increased resilience score equals increased quality of life of type 2 DM patients with chronic complications. Providing interventions to increase resilience is essential to optimize the quality of life in type 2 DM patients with chronic complications.
