Abstract

Hospital X in pekanbaru is the hospital of the mother and child special private in pekanbaru. In the process of wastewater treatment, the laundry facilities and cafeteria of the hospital do not enter the treatment process at the wwtp so that still needs further processing in order not to pollute the surrounding environment. It is based on and Permen LH No. 5 2014 the attachment 44 about the Quality of the Raw Waste Water For Business and/or Activities of Health care Facilities. Given the problem, the development of waste treatment facilities that are appropriate and cheap in terms of technology, price and ease of operation is very important. In this paper described the design of the waste water treatment plant (WWTP) with biological treatment to appropriate hospital namely with the process of wastewater treatment biofilter anaerobic aerobic with a capacity of 6,615 m3/day. The results showed that based on the calculation and design that has been made, the WWTP that will be used as a waste water treatment system of Hospital X can be overcome or cope with the problem of environmental pollution. It is seen from the level of the decreased efficiency of processing is quite high, namely BOD 5.35 mg/L (99,4%), COD 33,9 mg/L (98,4%), TSS 1.6 mg/L (99.8% Of), Total Coliform 103,125 MPN/100 mL (99%), MBAS 5,625 mg/L (of 97.7%), and the content of Oil and Fat of 13.5 mg/L (to 97.5%). Abstract

Siak river water into the many natural resources provide benefits for the inhabitants of nearby, but the condition of the river siak currently included in the critical category. One of the treatments to reduce levels of pollutants in river water is by using a slow sand filter using quartz sand and activated carbon. This research aims to determined the effect of high activated carbon and quartz sand as well as the best sampling time with the efficiency of removal of Fe parameters in slow sand filters, and compared the quality standards of PP No. 82 of 2001. The fixed variable uses in this research is the velocity of water flow on the sand filter is slow 0.3 m / hour and the sampling time is 0, 15, 30, 45, 60. The changeable variable uses consists of variations in bed height in the reactor namely : 10 cm gravel, 50 cm quartz sand, and 20 cm activated carbon; 10 cm gravel, 60 cm quartz sand, and 10 cm activated carbon; and 10 cm gravel, 70 cm quartz sand, and no activated carbon. Based on the results of the research after the slow sand filtering process obtained the best removal efficiency in reactor 1 for 60 minutes, the efficiency of removal of Fe metal by 97.52%.Keywords: Siak River, Slow Sand Filter, activated carbon, quartz sand, Fe metal removal.

Abstract

Forest and land fires can produce Greenhouse Gases (GHGs), most of which are in the form of carbon dioxide (CO2) which are harmful to health and the environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate forest and land fire control strategy to be applied in Riau Province. The method used in this study is by referring to government regulations and regional regulations of Riau Province. The results showed that the forest and land fire control strategy was divided into 3 activities, namely: forest and land fire prevention, forest and land fire suppression, and post forest and land fire control.Keywords: Control strategies, Forest Fires, handling, prevention, suppression

Abstract

The needs for agricultural products are increasing along with population growth, but the area of agricultural land is decreasing and so as plant pest organisms. Therefore, one of the intensifications of agricultural policies is to use pesticides. The aim of this study was to determine the efficiency of degradation of pesticide-contaminated soil with active ingredients profenofos in the bioremediation process with the addition of Pseudomonas sp. This study used a bioremediation reactor with a size of 20 cm x 35 cm, pesticides with active ingredients profenofos and pesticide residue testing carried out using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) instrumentation. The research variables include variations in the concentration of the bacterium Pseudomonas sp. that is 2 ml/kg, 3 ml/kg and the control reactor with bioremediation time for 21 days. The results showed that the bioremediation method using Pseudomonas sp. able to set aside pesticide residues made from with active ingredients profenofos in soil media. Pollution removal efficiency for bacterial variation of 2 ml/kg was obtained of 93.67%, the bacterial variation of 3 ml/kg of 96.33% and control reactor was 76.33% with a residence time of 21 days.Keywords: Bioremediation, Profenofos, Pesticide Residue, Pseudomonas sp.

Abstract

The need for clean water is needed by various groups of people. People who live on the banks of the Siak River in Limbungan Village, Rumbai Pesisir Sub-District use Siak River water for clean water of bathing, washing and latrines by used it directly. Siak River water used by residents has several parameters that exceed the quality standard so that the use of river water must be processed first. One simple system that can process Siak River water is a slow sand filter with the addition of zeolite. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficiency of decreasing turbidity parameters by slow sand filters. In this study variations in the diameter of silica sand – zeolite (0,15 – 0,35) mm, diameter of silica sand – zeolite (0,35 – 0,55) mm and variations in flow rate filtration on slow sand filters (0,1 ; 0,2 and 0,3) m/hour. Based on the results of the study, the highest removal efficiency was found in slow sand filter reactors with media diameters (0,15 – 0,55) mm and with flow velocities of 0,1 m / hour, removal of turbidity is 97,08%Keywords: Slow Sand Filter, Silica Sand, Zeolite, Siak River Water

Abstract

The green open space is one of an effort in order to handling of the increasing the greenhouse gas emission, because green open space has an ability to absorbing the CO2 emission. The purpose of this research is to find out the CO2 emissions from transportation activities, knowing the ability of absorption of CO2 by the public’s green open space, analyze the level of absorption of CO2 by green open space from transportation activity, and to plan for the addition of public’s green open space in Bangkinang Kota district. The method in this research is calculate the value of CO2 emissions, counting the trees which has diameters more than 20 centimeter, and calculate the area of vegetation cover. The sufficiency of green open space was analyze and then compared the absorbing power of CO2 by trees with number of CO2 emissions that produced. Bangkinang Kota district is produced the CO2 emissions from transportation which is high enough as much as 32.884.770,640 kilograms CO2/year. While the ability of CO2 absorption by the public’s green open space in Bangkinang Kota district only 1.178.356,154 kilograms CO2/year. The result of analysis show that the public’s green open space in Bangkinang Kota district that viewed from absorbing CO2 emissions of transportation is still not enough with percentage is only about 3,59%. The absorbtion rate of public’s green open space is planned to reduce all CO2 emissions from transportation activities in Bangkinang Kota district is equal to 34.510.474,20 kilograms CO2/year.Keywords: Greenhouse Gas, Co2 Emissions, and Green Open Space

Abstract

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from transportation activities are the highest contributors to air pollution as much as 85%. One of the most implementative efforts to minimize the impact of global warming is through the provision of green open space. The purpose of this research is the value of carbon dioxide emissions from the number of motorized vehicles year as well as the value of the ability to absorb public green open space on CO2 emissions from transportation activities in Siak Hulu Sub-district and Tambang Sub-district. The method used in this research is recording traffic activities to calculate CO2 emissions values and calculating all public green space based on the number of protective trees that have a diameter of 20 cm, vegetation cover, and calculating the percentage of absorption capacity of public green open space. The results of the research obtained, CO2 emissions from amounting of motorized vehicles in Siak Hulu Subdistrict amounting to 81,413.03 tons CO2/year and in Tambang Sub-district amounting to 121,120.89 tons CO2/ year. The results of the analysis show that the existing public green open space in Siak Hulu Sub-district with a percentage of 1,67% and the Tambang Sub-district with a percentage of 1,13% hasn’t fulfilled the absorption of CO2 emissions from transportation activities. Abstract

Mandau Sub-district is one of the regions that has considerable transportation activities in Riau Province. Therefore, the calculation of the total of vehicles is very necessary to find out the total of vehicles that passed through the roads in Mandau Sub-district. This research was conducted to determine the total of motorized vehicles produced during peak hours on Mondays. The method of this study was recording the traffic activity to count the total of motorized vehicles that passed through the road in Mandau Sub-district. The results of this study were the total of motorized vehicles during peak hours on Monday for each road was 9,070 units on Hangtuah Street, 7,581 units on Mawar Street, and 2,442 units on Pertanian Street. This showed the magnitude of transportation activities in Mandau Sub-district. Keyword: Mandau Sub-district, Transportation, and Traffic Counting.

Abstract

Spent mushroom substrate, a renewable bio-waste from mushroom-growing industry, was used as a biosorbent to remove ion Fe metal in peat water. The purpose of this study was to determine metal removal efficiency of Fe in the peat water. Fixed variables used in this study is the stirring speed of 120 rpm and a contact time of 60 minutes. For independent variables used consisted of adsorbent mass variation of 0,1; 0,3; 0,5; 0,7; 0,9 g and a particle size variation 60, 100 and 140 mesh. The results showed highest removal efficiency of Fe metal concentration on peat water treatment by biosorption onto Coprinus comatus spent mushroom substrate at mass of biosorbent 0,9 g with a particle size of 140 mesh, with removal efficiency for fe metal concentration and color respectively amounted to 88,31%. Abstract

The number of vehicles is very influential on the CO2 produced and can cause increased Greenhouse Gas emissions because it has the ability to absorb CO2 emissions. Pekanbaru Development Area IV is one of the Development Areas that has the potential to produce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This research was conducted to determine the number of motorized vehicles and the value of CO2 emissions produced each day. The method used is recording traffic activities to calculate the amount of CO2 emissions. The research results obtained, namely the number of vehicles from transportation in the Development Area IV Pekanbarun can be concluded that the number of densest vehicles occurs on arterial roads on Sundays with the number of vehicles as much as 33,082 vehicles / day, for the collector road the highest number of vehicles on the Bukit Barisan road on Sundays as many as 19,186 vehicles / day, while for the densest local roads on the road I Work on Monday as many as 9,981 vehicles / day.
