Abstract

Industry in Indonesia continues to experience development in line with advances in science and technology, and this is because the industrial sector makes the most significant contribution to the national economy. However, industrial operations that are getting bigger can produce various kinds of waste, one of which is waste from the processing of plastic metallization applications and modern vacuum coating on food packaging, namely evaporation boats. The result of this waste is substantial because, in its application, evaporation boats will always be used as long as plastic food packaging continues to be produced around the world, so it is necessary to have handling for environmental sustainability in the future. Evaporation boat waste is waste that cannot be decomposed but can withstand heat and be used as a refractory material, especially as a primary material for making crucibles.

Abstract

Wilayah Dukuh Sukir Desa Pakis Kecamatan Limbangan Kabupaten Kendal, merupakan daerah yangterletak pada dataran tinggi. Di wilayah tersebut terdapat sawah dan sebagian besar hutan yang banyaktumbuh pohon Aren. Hampir setiap rumah mempunyai pohon aren dan 80% penduduknya sebagaipenyadap nira aren. Proses penyadapan dilakukan pada pagi dan sore hari, selanjutnya nira aren diolahmenjadi gula aren cetak. Mitra pada kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalahkelompokperajingulaarencetak“MuyaArenga”,yangmengarahkeekonomiproduktif.Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra yaitu diperlukan inovasi untuk meningkatkan nilai jual produk gulaaren cetak menjadi gula semut dan dibutuhkan metode pemasaran yang dapat menjangkau konsumenyang lebih luas dan dapat meningkatkan pemasaran pada masa pandemi ini. Tujuan dari kegiatan PKMini meningkatkan nilai jual produk gula aren cetak menjadi gula aren semut yang mempunyai nilaipeningkatan 4 kalinya, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan perajin gula aren serta masyarakatDukuhSukirpadaumumnya.MetodekegiatanpengabdianPKMyangdilakukanantaralainkoordinasi, pembuatan alat proses pembuatan gula semut, pembuatan kemasan produk dan merekdagang serta pelatihan pengelolaan pemasaran online yang memanfaatkan teknologi informasi. Dandilakukan pendampingan dan evaluasi pelaksanaan program dan keberlanjutan program di lapangan.Hasil dari kegiatan PKM adalah mitra Muya Arenga sudah dapat memproduksi gula aren semut yangsiap untuk dipasarkan. Gula aren semut yang dihasilkan mempunyai karakteristik sesuai SNI 01-3743-1995, dengan kandungan gula sukrosa 81,78%, gula reduksi 5,78% dan energi 358,64 kal/100gr.

Abstract

Evaporation boats are conductive advanced ceramic composites with the best thermal evaporation source for metalizing applications. The short life time of the evaporation boats causes the metalizing industry to produce large amounts of evaporation boats waste. However, studies on the utilization of evaporation boat waste are still limited. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of firing holding time on the density, porosity, and hardness of crucible materials made from evaporation boats waste. The material used in this research is a mixture of evaporation boats waste powder, kaolin, and graphite, with a composition of 50%, 25% and 25%, respectively. During the mixing process, 15% of the water is added. The compacting process carried out with a compaction pressure of 25 MPa. The firing process is carried out at a temperature of 1000oC with holding times of 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 minutes. The test results show that the holding time of firing has an effect on density, porosity, and hardness. The highest density value was 1,91 g/cm3 at a holding time of 180 minutes, and the lowest was 1,77 g/cm3 at a holding time of 60 minutes. The highest porosity value is 4,10% at a holding time of 60 minutes, and the lowest is 2,16% at a holding time of 180 minutes. The highest hardness value was 12,84 HV at a holding time of 180 minutes, and the lowest was 8,3 HV at a holding time of 60 minutes. The longer holding time in the firing process results in a decrease in the porosity content. The decrease in the porosity content results in an increase in density and hardness of the cruicible specimens.

Abstract

Along with the advancement of modern times and technology, the metal sector plays a critical role in sustaining present growth. The industry's increased competitiveness has hampered the development of numerous small-scale metal casting industries. A crucible made of local graphite can only be used not more than ten melting cycles. This research aims to examine the influence of firing temperature on the density, porosity, impact strength, and macrostructure of graphite, kaolin and castable cement crucible materials. This research applies experiment method at various firing temperature, i.e. 850 °C, 900 °C, 950 °C, 1000 °C and 1050 °C. The crucible materials are made of graphite, kaolin, and castable cement. The firing process employs a heating rate of 5 °C/min and a holding time 2 hours. The results show that firing temperature influences the density, porosity, impact strength and macrostructure of crucible. The highest density at 1.86 grams/cm3 was obtained at the firing temperature of 1050 °C. The lowest porosity value of 41% was attained at firing temperature of 1050 °C. However, this value was still below the crucible index criterion. The highest impact strength of 0.003249 Joule/mm2 occurred for firing temperature of 1050 °C.

Abstract

Ketersediaan air bersih di Pondok Pesantren Darululum Assyar’iyyah, Ungaran, mengalami tantangan signifikan, terutama saat musim kemarau. Sumber air utama yang berjarak hampir 1 km memerlukan pompa listrik berdaya tinggi, sehingga menambah beban biaya operasional. Rekayasa pompa air tenaga angin dibangun sebagai upaya solusi inovatif untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air bersih. Metodologi mencakup survei kebutuhan air, desain teknis, konstruksi pompa angin, hingga pelatihan santri untuk operasional dan pemeliharaan sistem secara berkelanjutan. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan sistem mampu memenuhi hingga 80% kebutuhan air harian pesantren, menurunkan ketergantungan pada energi listrik, dan mengurangi biaya operasional. Selain itu, santri memperoleh pengetahuan langsung mengenai energi terbarukan, meningkatkan wawasan teknologi mereka. Teknologi ini berpotensi direplikasi di wilayah lain yang menghadapi masalah serupa, memberikan solusi penggunaan energi angin sebagai sumber tenaga utama diharapkan dapat mengurangi ketergantungan pada sumber energi konvensional dan berkontribusi pada pelestarian lingkungan.

Abstract

This experimental study aims to determine the effect of cutting speed and material thickness on the surface hardness and roughness resulting from the cutting of AISI-1045 steel using CNC Plasma Arc Cutting. The data analysis technique being used was descriptive statistics. The variables of cutting the AISI-1045 steel for the cutting speeds are 75 mm/min, 100 mm/min, and 125 mm/min. The variables for material thickness are 5 mm, 9 mm, and 13 mm. The experiment carried out were the hardness test using Micro-hardness Tester M800 and roughness test using Surfcorder SE-1700. The results show that the lower the cutting speed, the higher the surface hardness and roughness value, and vice versa. The great thickness of the material, the hardness produced and the roughness value is higher. When the cutting speed and thickness of the material value are high, the workpiece cannot be cut off. The lowest hardness and surface roughness values were 261.33 HV and 10.3 µm, respectively, using a cutting speed of 125 mm/min and the material thickness of 5 mm. The highest hardness value is 319.66 HV, using a cutting speed of 75 mm/min and a material thickness of 13 mm. The highest surface roughness value is 26.8 µm, which were obtained using a cutting speed of 75 mm/min and material thickness of 9 mm.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecepatan pemotongan dan ketebalan bahan terhadap kekerasan dan kekasaran permukaan hasil pemotongan baja AISI-1045 menggunakan CNC Plasma Arc Cutting. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dan teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah statistika deskriptif pada pemotongan baja AISI-1045 dengan kecepatan pemotongan 75 mm/min, 100 mm/min, 125 mm/min dan tebal bahan 5 mm, 9 mm, dan 13 mm. Pengujian kekerasan dilakukan menggunakan microhardness terster M800 dan pengujian kekasaran dilakukan menggunakan Surfcorder SE-1700. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin rendah kecepatan pemotongan maka nilai kekerasan semakin tinggi dan nilai kekasaran permukaan semakin tinggi atau sebaliknya. Semakin besar ketebalan bahan yang digunakan maka nilai kekerasan yang dihasilkan semakin tinggi dan nilai kekasaran semakin tinggi atau sebaliknya. Semakin tinggi kecepatan pemotongan dan ketebalan bahan, benda kerja tidak dapat terpotong. Nilai kekerasan dan kekasaran permukaan paling rendah yaitu 261,33 HV dan 10,3 µm dengan kecepatan pemotongan 125 mm/min dan ketebalan bahan 5 mm. Nilai kekerasan yang paling tinggi yaitu 319,66 HV dengan menggunakan kecepatan pemotongan 75 mm/min dan ketebalan bahan 13 mm dan nilai kekasaran permukaan paling tinggi yaitu 26,8 µm dengan kecepatan pemotongan 75 mm/min dan ketebalan bahan 9 mm.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an Android-based learning media in the form of a welding simulation application to support practical learning in Vocational High Schools (SMK). The background of this research is limited practical facilities, limited learning time, and low student engagement in direct welding practice. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The application was developed and validated by four experts, consisting of two material experts and two media experts. The validation results by the material experts showed a feasibility level of 87.25%, categorized as "very feasible," while the validation results by the media experts obtained a score of 90.27%, categorized as "very feasible." Field trials were conducted on 24 eleventh-grade students at a vocational high school, and student responses showed a feasibility level of 89.41%. This application has been proven to improve understanding of basic welding concepts and skills independently and is an effective alternative to overcome the limitations of physical practice at school. This media is deemed feasible and has the potential for further development on other platforms as a technology-based vocational learning solution.

Abstract

The use of natural fiber as composite material is growing rapidly due to excellent characteristics, environmentally friendly quality and low price. For this reason, natural fiber breaks the dominance of synthetic fiber composite previously used in industries, especially in automotive manufacturing. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of fiber orientation on the flexural and tensile strength of water hyacinth-sugarcane fiber composite with epoxy matrix. The composite then be tested as an alternative to doortrim. Fiber orientation applied to specimens was random for sugarcane fiber, but continuous on water hyacinth fiber with angle variants of -45/45, 45/90, 45/45, and 90/90. Specimen standard for flexural test is ASTM D790-15 and ASTM D638-14 for tensile test. The study results show that the highest average value for flexural strength is 51.7 MPa of the 45/90 variant, while the lowest average value of 16.6 MPa is the 45/45 variant. Both 45/90 and -45/45 variants have the highest tensile strength of 30 MPa. The 90/90 variant records the weakest tensil strength value of 20 MPa. The highest flexural and tensile strength values exceed minimum score of the SNI 01-4449-2006 and equal the values of panel assy backdoortrim. This experiment proves that fiber orientation affects mechanical properties of composite materials, especially in terms of flexural or tensile strength.

Abstract

Due to bumps or holes in the road, certain regions' road surface is still unsuitable for riding at high speeds. Many motorcycles used stabilizer steering dampers to reduce weave and wobble. Bracket is a structure that holds the stabilizer steering dampers to the motorcycle steering. Bracket plays a significant role in maintaining the stabilizer steering dampers as well as stopping any vibration due to the dynamic conditions. This paper presents Finite Element Analysis of a bracket, which is analyzed material aluminum 6061 and aluminum alloy cast. In this study, we have explored using Static Analysis to calculate the internal force, displacement, and stress of structural brackets. Hence in this study, we have performed Modal Analysis to determine the natural frequencies of the bracket for safety. And also, we have performed Transient Analysis to study the behavior of structure brackets over time in response to time-varying loads and vibrations in dynamic conditions.
