Abstract

Most of students still consider the subject of classification to be the most difficult subject. 33.989% of the students chose the classification of living things subject as the most difficult subject. This study aims to determine the validity and impact of using learning material based on guided discovery with pictorial analysis on students' learning outcomes on the classification of living things  subject. in junior high school. The research method used  quasi experimental design with pre-test-post-test non equivalent control group design. Research development was done through 10 stages. This study was conducted at SMPN 1 Jati Kudus. The sample in this study was  the students of grade 7th of academic year 2017/2018. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The research revealed that learning material based on guided discovery with pictorial analysis has validation value with an average of 3.52 with the very valid criteria, but still needed revision on learning material. The learning material that is developed, it has a positive impact on student achievement. There are significant differences between the control class and the experimental class of the t test results obtained by the value of t arithmetic (5.041) > t table (1.988) indicates that there is the impact of using learning material based on guided discovery with pictorial analysis to the students achievement in the classification of living creatures subject. Guided discovery based teaching materials with pictorial analysis make students more active in learning with student activity level in experimental class 80,25% higher than control class that is equal to 70,36%.

Abstract

The laboratory is an integral part of teaching and learning activities in the Curriculum 2013, which emphasizes the scientific approach. Preliminary observations indicate that laboratory management is only handled by the teacher appointed as head of the laboratory. This study aims to describe the impact of the implementation of the 2013 curriculum on laboratory management. This research is expected to give a real picture of the impact of the implementation of the 2013 curriculum on laboratory management in Wonosobo District Senior High School. The research approach used is qualitative with qualitative descriptive method. Techniques of data collection using interviews, observation and documentation. Source of data obtained from nine State Senior High School in Wonosobo regency. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman model data analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the 2013 curriculum has not had an impact on the management of laboratories in SMA Negeri in Kabupaten Wonosobo, the laboratory is not an integral part of teaching and learning activities especially science subjects. The reason for the management of the laboratory has not been an integral part of the learning process is that all laboratory activities are handled directly by the teacher of the maple managers, the laboratory management is only handled by the teacher who served as head of the laboratory, the management performed by the head of the laboratory is limited to the administration, and the laboratory does not have the technician and laboran.

Abstract

Biloto villagers who are living nearby Nasinoah forest have strong interaction with the environment. The interaction brings about skills in managing the natural resource to be useful for life particularly making use of any plants as traditional medicine done by mnanet (traditional medical experts). This study aimed at: 1) Identifying and documenting the species of medicinal plants in Nasinoah forest; 2). Creating material and other teaching and learning instruments of biological variety and the use of natural resource based on identification and documentation result; 3) Testing validity and legibility of the material and instruments. The data gathered were the species of medicinal plants and local skills in managing the plants. Interview, survey, and literature were the instruments used to gather data. The study revealed that there were 33 kinds of plant identified as medicinal plants classified into 25 different familys which were used by Biloto villagers. Then, learning material about medicinal plants was arranged as contextual material based on the data. The study concluded that there were variety of medicinal plants used by Biloto villagers as medicine and the contextual teaching and learning instruments were valid and applicable.

Abstract

Critical thinking and problem solving skills, creativity and innovation, collaboration, and communication are types of skills that students must master to face the challenges of the 21st century. The role of the teacher in the learning process becomes an important factor to facilitate students in achieving the various skills needed at this time. The objectives of this study was to describe the readiness of 21st century teachers through the application of 21st century assessments, assessment quality, and alternative assessment models that lead to the needs of 21st century education. This research was conducted by surveys at six different schools, each involving six participant teachers and three participating students, using a quantitative non-experimental descriptive method. The results showed that the type of assessment used were varied, there were three participant teachers who have validated their Biology assessments through teacher discussion forums, and alternative assessment models used by participant teachers have not been used in their entirety, so the objectives of the assessment were not achieved. Thus, based on the Biology assessment used by high school teachers who were active participants in the Semarang MGMP group, it can be concluded that the majority of teacher in Semarang did not show readiness towards 21st century education needs, particularly in the application of assessments that lead to 21st century skills (4C's)

Abstract

Skills that must be possessed in the 21st century include critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovative skills, collaboration and communication skills (4C) in order to be able to survive and compete globally. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of environmental change learning tools based on STEM-PjBL including syllabus, lesson plans, teaching materials, student worksheets and evaluation tools on students' 4C skills. The learning model used in this study is Project Based Learning (PjBL). The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Medan and SMA Negeri 16 Medan class X. Samples were taken using a purposive sampling method consisting of 4 classes with a total of 126 students. This research uses quantitative research methods with one group pretest-posttest design. The results showed the implementation of learning activities based on the activities of teachers obtained a score of 0.915 with a very good category. Furthermore, critical thinking and problem solving skills get an average score of N-Gain 0.587 with the medium category, creativity and innovative skills get an average score of 0.809, collaboration skills score 0.816 and communication skills score 0.825 with all categories very good. These results indicate that environmental change learning tools based on STEM-PjBL is effective against students' 4C skills.

Abstract

The implementation of learning using booklet media of conventional biotechnology application on biotechnology materials is expected to be able to help the students achieve of all basic competencies of learning and can improve student learning outcomes which are still low. The booklet was developed based on the results of the study, and then validated by experts to test the feasibility of the booklet. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the conventional biotechnology application booklet media. This study uses a pre-experimental design with one-group pretest-posttest design. The trial was conducted on the students of class XII MIPA 1 and XII MIPA 2 in NU 1 Kradenan High School in the 2019/2020 school year taken by purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the application of conventional biotechnology booklets was effectively used as a supplement for teaching biotechnology materials in high school. The average of N-gain 0,71 indicates that there was an increase in learning outcomes from pre-test to post-test with high criteria. The average classical completeness reached 92%, the average percentage of student attitudes reached 80% and the average student skills reached 81% with effective criteria. Based on the results of the study, the use of booklets is recommended in learning biotechnology to improve student learning outcomes in the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains.
