Abstract

The objectives of this study were to analyze factors affecting the farmers’ income from the cattle business and farming crops under condition of the usage of artificial insemination technology and to analyze the effects of the external factor changing toward the income of beef cattle business, the costs of cattle production , the cost of food crop production, food crops farm income, animal health costs and the cost of the barn with the condition of the artificial technology usage. The measurement of artificial insemination used the inseminator cost approach. This research was a case study of 70 cattlemen in the village of Tonsewer Tompaso Sub district Minahasa Regency selected by random sampling. Model of simultaneous equations with the method of 2 SLS was used to estimate all the parameters of the study. The result of research showed that the economic model of cattlemen could explain the relation of inseminator cost with income and costs of production in cattle and food crops well. The simulation analysis indicated that effect of inseminator cost policy on household’s economy was that 15% increasing of inseminator cost was the best alternative scenario that can increases income of cattle business 9,37%, beef production cost 0.24%, food crops production cost 3,62%, income of food crops business 5.86%, cattle medication cost 2,52% and barn cost 2.78%. These results indicated that the inseminator cost policy could improve economics performance of cattle farmers. Keywords: Simulation analysis , Inseminator cost , Income of cattle farmers, food crops, economic model of cattlemen

Abstract

ABSTRACT ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF UTILIZATION OF MIX ORGANIC FERTILIZER FROM CATTLE FECES ON TOMATO (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill. L.) FARM (Case study at Tondegesan Two Village Kawangkoan District of Minahasa Regency) The objectives of this study were to analyze cost, income, production and factors affecting tomato farm using organic fertilizer from cattle feces at Tondegesan Two village, Kawangkoan district of Minahasa regency.        Respondents were defined by census method. Data were collected by interviewing mechanisms, direct observation and available documents. Data were based on primer data including land area, workers, salary, total seed, seed prize, total fertilizer applied, fertilizer price, tomato production per planting period, tomato selling price, production cost, income as well as general condition of farmer.  Secondary data were based on the reference (library and internet) or other institutions related with this study such as animal population and tomato farmers. Data were analyzed by different test using t test on pair samples. Results showed that costs of tomato farm using organic fertilizer from cattle feces were IDR 32,936,915 less than costs of tomato farm using non-organic fertilizer of IDR 38,659,431. On the other hand, farmer incomes using organic fertilizer from cattle feces were IDR 43,653,085 more than farmer income using non-organic fertilizer of IDR 34,938,069. The productions of tomato farm using organic fertilizer from cattle feces were 30,636 kg more than production of tomato farm using non-organic fertilizer of 29,439 kg. Using regression analysis of production function by cobb douglass method for factors affecting tomato farm indicated that the variables of workers and seed total affected significantly tomato production with probability of 0.005, while total organic and non-organic fertilizers did not affect tomato production. Therefore, it can be concluded that utilization of the organic fertilizer increased farmers’ income of the tomato farm.   Key words:Cattle feces organic fertilizer, tomato production, cost, income.

Abstract

ABSTRACTINCOME ANALYSIS OF NATIVE CHICKEN FARMING RAISED  EXTENSIVELY IN DIMEMBE SUBDISTRICT. The goal of this research were to investigate the income on the business of domestic poultry that is maintained extensively and to determine the factors that influence it. The study was conducted by using survey and interview methods based on a list of questions toward 80 respondents of native chicken farmers in  Dimembe Sub District. Data analysis were descriptive and quantitative analysis. Quantitative analysis was done by  using multiple regression techniques of the Cobb-Douglass model. The results showed that the average net income from selling free-range chickens, which is Rp. 2.780.471,875 /year / breeder. The results of the regression analysis showed that altogether the independent variables influenced the income of farmers as much as 73.1%. Partially the independent variables that significantly influence farmers 'income (P<0,05) were labor costs and farmers' perceptions  while feed costs drug and vitamin costs and the cage cost were not significantly effect on  breeder’s income from native chicken farming (P> 0.05)  Production costs of a locally-grown free-range chicken farm are mostly used to buy feed.

Abstract

INTERNAL ORGANS CHAR ACTERISTICS OF NATIVE CHICKEN FED BY COCONUT OIL (Cocos nucifera) ON DIET. The research was carried to determine the internal organs characteristics of buras chickens fed coconut (Cocos mucifera) oil in diet. A total 100 unsexed buras chickens was used in this experiment. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications (4 hens each). The data were subjected to analysis of variance, when the treatments indicated significant effect it was continued Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Five dietary treatments containing 0, 0.5%, 1 %, 1,5%, and 2% levels of coconut oil (CO) with five replicates were applied to chickens.  Parameters measured were body weight, heart, liver, pancreas  and gizzard weight. Result showed that CO in the ration significantly increased the body weight (P<0.01) but did not affect to heart weight, liver weight, pancreas weight and gizzard weight.(P>0.05) It can be concluded that coconut oil in the diet can’t increase the internal organ characteristics. We can gave the 2% CO in the diet for the best results. Key words: Internal Organs, Coconut Oil, Buras Chickens
