Abstract

As time progresses, the competition in the higher education sector, both public and private, to attract students is becoming increasingly fierce. They are becoming more aggressive in carrying out specific exercises to compete for the attention of incoming students. With the widening competition among universities, Muhammadiyah Buton University (UM Buton) must play a crucial role in overseeing and disseminating information about the university to the general public. This way, it can increase the interest of potential new students to join and study at the university. In the intense competition in developed countries, universities must continue to compete in providing information to the general public. The exploration technique used in this examination is subjective methodology. Subjective methodology is an exploratory approach that emphasizes understanding and clarification from top to bottom regarding the social uniqueness that occurs, whether related to significance, experiences, or emotional translation of exam participants. The search results indicate that the Advertising methodology of Muhammadiyah Buton University in increasing the interest of potential new students exists in several stages. The idea conveyed is that with the presence of advertising in the hierarchy design of Muhammadiyah Buton University under the overall division leadership, it is hoped that it can transition to other departments, thus making advertising have a reasonable construction.

Abstract

The drama entitled True Beauty is a Korean drama produced by tvN which was released in 2020 directed by Kim Sang Hyub. In this study, researchers used Charles Sanders Peirce's theory of semiotic analysis. Charles Sanders Peirce's theory emphasizes that criminal behavior is not due to heredity, but social/social environmental factors. The purpose of this research is to represent bullying, which the researchers found that there are three types of bullying that occur in this drama, namely physical bullying, verbal bullying, and psychological bullying. The method used is to group signs based on scenes related to the representation of bullying in the drama, which is then explained in each type of bullying scene. The conclusion of the study was that students bullied Lim Ju Kyung and Han Go Won on the grounds that both Lim Ju Kyung and Han Go Won had ugly looks. So that students at the school carry out bullying in the form of slapping, grabbing, pushing, insulting, threatening, giving nicknames, and looking down on victims. These actions can cause the victim to become insecure, easily scared, and can even lead to suicide.

Abstract

This study uses a quantitative approach to analyze netizen discussions on social media about political choices and 2024 Presidential Candidates. The data were collected through online participant observation using the Drone Emprit Academic program and Gephi tools as visualization from September 1, 2022, to December 15, 2022. Social Network Analysis (SNA) was employed as a data-gathering approach by Drone Emprit Academic (DEA), Universitas Islam Indonesia. The study found that degree centrality calculations can be used to identify prominent individuals. The @abu_waras node was identified as having the highest degree centrality value, indicating significant influence within the network. However, its follower rank was low, suggesting that popularity needs to be increased. The @ChsnulCh_ node had a high popularity value but a lower degree centrality value, indicating popularity but insufficient influence in the project. This study highlights the potential of quantitative approaches like SNA for analyzing social media conversations and identifying influential actors. However, it also emphasizes the importance of considering both influence and popularity values when evaluating the significance of individual actors within the network.

Abstract

The film 'Noktah Merah Perkawinan' tells the story of a married couple who have been married for several years and have two children. The communication patterns between the characters Gilang and Ambar depict events that reflect realities often observed in society, such as conflicts within a household. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the semiotics of family communication patterns in the film 'Noktah Merah Perkawinan.' This research employs the semiotic analysis method of Ferdinand De Saussure, which comprises two elements: signifier and signified. Additionally, the research categorizes communication patterns based on De Vito's classification, including monopolistic family communication, balanced separate communication, unbalanced separate communication, and equality communication. According to this classification, the findings reveal that in monopolistic communication patterns, one party significantly dominates based on their influence within the family. In the case of balanced separate family communication, each family member plays their respective roles. Unbalanced separate communication occurs when communication within the family involves only one individual dominating due to their perceived expertise on a particular issue. In contrast, equality communication is characterized by open communication among family members without any specific restrictions. In conclusion, the research demonstrates that family communication patterns in this film vary widely, with each family member having their distinct role. Moreover, it suggests that all conflicts depicted in the film 'Noktah Merah Perkawinan' can be resolved through effective communication without any imposed limitations, as seen in the equality communication pattern. Abstract

This study examines the impact of authoritarian parenting in the drama "The Good Bad Mother." The research employs a qualitative method using Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic analysis, where Ferdinand divides signs into two components: the signifier and the signified. The drama tells the story of a single mother who is strict with her child, especially regarding education, resulting in Kang-ho becoming a successful prosecutor. However, as a prosecutor, Kang-ho becomes cold-hearted. The findings, gathered through documentation and observation of the film's scenes, reveal several impacts on the child resulting from the parent's authoritarian parenting style. It was found that children who experience authoritarian parenting tend to feel more negative effects compared to positive ones from this style of upbringing.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to understand how parents perceive early marriage cases in Lapandewa Kaindea Village and to determine the impact of these perceptions. The study uses social action theory and employs a qualitative research method with a descriptive qualitative data analysis approach, collecting data through observation and interviews. The informants consist of four people: parents whose children married at an early age, parents whose children did not marry at an early age, and a religious figure. The results show the perceptions of parents whose children did not marry early, the perceptions of parents about the causes of early marriage, and the perceptions of the religious figure. The factors contributing to early marriage in Lapandewa Kaindea Village include pregnancy outside of marriage, education, economic conditions, and communication factors. The impact of parents' perceptions on early marriage cases.

Abstract

This study aims to understand and explain how intercultural communication between the Bugis and Buton ethnic groups fosters harmony within the Pajalele community in Baubau City and to identify the barriers faced by the Bugis in establishing harmony with the Buton community. A qualitative approach with a Symbolic Interactionism method was used. The study involved 7 informants: 3 Ambonese, 3 Bugis, and 1 Community Leader. Data was collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, which were then analyzed thematically to identify effective communication in different cultural contexts. The results indicate that there is distinct yet complementary communication between the Bugis and Buton ethnic groups. The Bugis people have successfully fostered harmony within the Buton community according to the concepts of Thought, Self, and Social. The communication barriers identified include differences in language, cultural values, and the ongoing development of stereotypes and prejudices between the two ethnic groups

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the conversation that transpired on Twitter following the Indonesia 2024 presidential election debate, with particular attention on the phrase "Ndasmu." To better comprehend the speech patterns and attitudes that surface in online interactions, this research use topic modeling and sentiment analysis. The following Twitter data collection steps are part of this research methodology: To retrieve relevant tweets, use the Tweepy library to access the Twitter API. Access can only be obtained using a Twitter API key. Pre-processing Text: Eliminating superfluous characters, links, and mentions from the text data. Tokenizing text means breaking it up into individual words or phrases. eliminating stop words. Topic Modeling: Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) or Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) are two methods used for topic modeling. Two well-liked Python packages for topic modeling are Scikit-learn and Gensim. Sentiment analysis can be done with TextBlob or NLTK. While TextBlob makes things easier, NLTK offers more customization options. Visualization: Producing word clouds for subjects and sentiment distribution, among other visual representations of the data, requires the use of tools like Matplotlib or Seaborn. It is anticipated that the study's findings would provide light on the prevailing themes in the "Ndasmu" discourse and the attitudes that accompanied the presidential debates. These findings can help us comprehend the dynamics of public opinion and how individuals react to important political occasions like debates for the presidential nomination.

Abstract

Peningkatan kasus kekerasan seksual di Sulawesi Tenggara, khusunya pada tingkat pelajar terus meningkat dan menjadi salah satu masalah serius yang perlu diperhatikan segera. Upaya pencegahannya membutuhkan kolaborasi berbagai pihak, termasuk pemerintah, pendidikan tinggi, komunitas, dan individu. Beragam bentuk kekerasan yang terjadi seperti pelecehan seksual, pemerkosaan, atau eksploitasi seksual adalah kasus yang paling banyak terjadi. Dari kasus tersebut, memberi dampak pada korban meliputi trauma fisik, emosional, dan psikologis. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Kapontori Kabupaten Buton, dengan tujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman bentuk-bentuk kekerasan seksual, upaya mitigasi dan tata cara pelaporan kasus yang dapat dilakukan. Lokasi dipilih berdasarkan masih minimnya pengetahuan para pelajar terkait pencegahan kekerasan seksual, selain itu kurangnya pendampingan serta pengetahuan yang diajarkan guru pada siswa tentang kekerasan seksual. Metode pengabdian ini dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan yaitu tahapan persiapan dan tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan melalui metode ceramah dan tahapan diskusi kelompok. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pengabdian ini adalah para siswa memahami jenis, bahaya, dampak dari kekerasan seksual dan siswa dapat memahami dan melakukan pencegahan kekerasan seksual secara pribadi dan berkelompok.

Abstract

Dalam komunikasi, media selalu menjadi elemen penting dalam penyampaian pesan. Media adalah sarana atau alat yang digunakan oleh komunikator untuk mengirimkan pesan kepada komunikan atau khalayak. Proses komunikasi dibagi menjadi dua cara: primer dan sekunder. Komunikasi primer adalah penyampaian pesan dari komunikator ke komunikan menggunakan media primer, seperti lambang atau bahasa. Film merupakan salah satu media massa yang sangat populer dan memiliki fungsi hiburan dalam komunikasi. Film memiliki daya tarik tersendiri bagi khalayak dibanding media massa lainnya dan terus berkembang seiring kemajuan teknologi. Analisis film menggunakan semiotika, terutama teori Roland Barthes, memungkinkan pemahaman mendalam tentang tanda dalam konteks skenario, gambar, teks, dan adegan film. Penelitian ini tertarik pada film "Like & Share," sebuah film drama remaja Indonesia yang mengangkat isu kekerasan seksual, pelecehan, dan revenge porn. Film ini menampilkan realitas fenomena sosial sehari-hari dan menyiratkan pesan moral tentang eksplorasi dunia remaja, kecanduan pornografi, komunikasi buruk, dan perjuangan korban pelecehan seksual. Dengan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes, penelitian ini mengungkap representasi kekerasan seksual dan objektifikasi perempuan dalam film "Like & Share." Film ini bukan hanya media hiburan, tetapi juga alat penyampai pesan moral dan pengetahuan yang mampu mempengaruhi penontonnya melalui kekuatan visual dan audio.
