Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang tokoh dan penokohan dalam Novel Bulan Kertas karya Arafat Nur. Ruang lingkup penelitian ini meliputi unsur tokoh dan penokohan. Penelitian bertujuan mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis tokoh dan teknik-teknik penokohan yang terdapat dalam Novel Bulan Kertas karya Arafat Nur. Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik kepustakaan. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat berbagai jenis tokoh dan beragam teknik penokohan yang digunakan Arafat Nur dalam novel ini. (1) Tokoh utama dalam novel ini ada dua, yaitu Rafa dan Naya. (2) Tokoh tambahan dalam novel initerdapat empat belas tokoh, yaitu Kanafi, Askan, Fadil, Ayah Rafa, Ayah Naya, Ibu Rafa, Ibu Naya, Nadira, Nafil, Teungku Farhat, Afdal, Sarah, Bu Aini, dan Tetangga Naya. (3) Tokoh protagonis ada tujuh, yaitu Rafa, Naya, Kanafi, Ayah Rafa, Ayah Naya, Ibu Rafa, dan Ibu Naya. (4) Tokoh antagonis ada dua, yaitu Askan dan Fadil. (5) Tokoh bulat ada tiga, yaitu Rafa, Naya, dan Kanafi. (6) Tokoh sederhana terdapat tiga belas, yaitu Askan, Fadil, Ayah Rafa, Ayah Naya, Ibu Rafa, Ibu Naya, Nadira, Nafil, Teungku Farhat, Afdal, Sarah, Bu Aini, dan Tetangga Naya. (7) Tokoh berkembang ada tiga, yaitu Rafa, Naya, dan Kanafi. (8) Tokoh statis tidak ditemukan dalam novel ini. (9) Tokoh netral ada dua, yaitu Naya dan Kanafi. (10) Tokoh tipikal ada dua, yaitu Teungku Farhat dan Bu Aini. Penokohan yang digunakan Arafat Nur dalam Novel Bulan Kertas ada dua teknik, yaitu teknik langsung dan teknik tidak langsung. Teknik langsung terdapat 11 kutipan sedangkan teknik tidak langsung ditemukan 246 kutipan yang menunjukkan teknik tidak langsung sangat dominan digunakan dalam novel ini.Kata kunci: tokoh, penokohan, dan novel. ABSTRACT This study examines the character and characterization in the Novel Bulan Kertas by Arafat Nur. The scope of this research includes elements of character and characterization. The study aims to describe the types of figures and characterization techniques contained in the Novel Bulan Kertas by Arafat Nur. The technique used in this research is literature technique. Technique of data analysis used in this research is content analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that there are various types of characters and various characterizations techniques used by Arafat Nur in this novel. (1) The main characters in this novel are two, namely Rafa and Naya. (2) Additional characters in the novel are fourteen characters, namely Kanafi, Askan, Fadil, Ayah Rafa, Ayah Naya, Ibu Rafa, Ibu Naya, Nadira, Nafil, Teungku Farhat, Afdal, Sarah, Bu Aini, and Tetangga Naya. (3) The protagonist is seven, Rafa, Naya, Kanafi, Ayah Rafa, Ayah Naya, Ibu Rafa, and Ibu Naya. (4) The character of the antagonist there are two, namely Askan and Fadil. (5) There are three round figures, namely Rafa, Naya, and Kanafi. (6) Simple figures are thirteen, namely Askan, Fadil, Ayah Rafa, Ayah Naya, Ibu Rafa, Ibu Naya, Nadira, Nafil, Teungku Farhat, Afdal, Sarah, Bu Aini, and Tetangga Naya. (7) Developing figures have three, namely Rafa, Naya, and Kanafi. (8) Static characters are not found in this novel. (9) Neutral figures are two, namely Naya and Kanafi. (10) Typical figures are two, namely Teungku Farhat and Bu Aini. Characterization used Arafat Nur in Novel Bulan Kertas there are two techniques, namely direct techniques and indirect techniques. Direct technique there are 11 citations whereas indirect techniques found 246 excerpts indicating indirect techniques are very dominant used in this novel.Keywords: character, characterization, and novel

Abstract

This research was conducted using financial reports from companies engaged in retail distribution sector during the periods of 2013-2016 using financial ratios analysis. These ratios described how profitability, assets management and company’s equity are affecting the dividend policy. We can conclude that dividend policy has major impact on the company’s growth and stock performance. The results show that a slight decrease in the stock price will also cause a decrease in the profit and eventually causing decrease to the earning per share. The dividend per share experiences an increase because these companies still intent to pay the dividend among their share holders to maintain share price. Share price declines due to the interest rate policies of Bank Indonesia and the value of export import. These companies have run proper dividend policies by maintaining the growth and company value, seen from the increasing portion of retained earnings and the portion of dividend payment. Thus the decreasing price of share is mostly caused by external factors.

Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis Proses Pengawasan Pembangunan Infastruktur oleh Badan Permusyawaratn Desa di Desa Sungai Nilam Kecamatan Jawai Kabupaten Sambas. Penelitian ini didasarkan atas fenomena realisasi pembangunan yang kurang maksimal. Adapun metode  yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif, dengan desain penelitian analisis deskriptif . Penelitian ini menggunakan teori proses pengawasan Manullang (2005:184) yang terdiri dari : 1) Menetapkan alat pengukur (standar), kesimpulanya adalah  pengawasan BPD dalam pembangunan dapat dikatakan masih belum maksimal hal ini dibuktikan karena acuan maupun pedoman pengawasannya belum jelas, setiap anggota BPD tidak memiliki dan menyimpan RKPDes atau RAB karena faktor sumber daya manusianya, baik dari tingkat pendidikan, pengalaman maupun pelatihan kurang sehingga tidak memahami akan tugas yang akan diawasi; 2) Menilai (evaluasi), kesimpulanya adalah dapat dikatakan belum maksimal, ditemukan dilapangan pembangunan tidak sesuai RAB , tidak taat administrasi  karena keterlambatan laporan pertanggungjawaban; 3) Mengadakan tindakan perbaikan, kesimpulanya adalah dapat di katakana cukup baik, hal ini dibuktikan setelah selesai monitoring dari inspektorat sambas pemerintah desa langsung mengadakan perbaikan penimbunan jalan batu kong. Adapun saran yang direkomendasikan peneliti adalah  pengawasan yang dilakukan BPD, setiap anggotanya harus memiliki dan memahami RKPDes maupun RAB, agar dalam pelaksanaanya tercapai standar, evaluasi maupun tindakan perbaikan dalam mengawasi Pemerintah Desa dalam pembangunan di Desa Sungai Nilam Kecamatan Jawai Kabupaten sambas. Kata Kunci: Pengawasan, Pembangunan Infastruktur, Badan Permusyawaratan Desa

Abstract

Background: Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is one of the most well-known spices with antimicrobial activity. However, different extraction methods of ginger will result in different antimicrobial properties due to the various substances extracted. This study aimed to compare antimicrobial activity between ethanolic extract and essential oil of ginger against food-borne bacteria grown in 2.1% Mueller Hinton agar. Methods: Fresh ginger rhizomes were extracted either by using vapor distillation method or maceration using ethanol to obtain ginger essential oils (GEO) and ginger ethanolic extract (GEE), respectively. Ethanolic extract and essential oil of ginger at different concentrations were then tested for their antimicrobial activity using disk diffusion method against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella typhi, and Staphylococcus aureus. Tetracycline was also used as a standard of antibacterial agent. Results: Ginger essential oil in 25%, 50%, and 100% showed significant growth inhibition of four types of bacteria compared to ginger ethanolic extract. This antimicrobial effect of ginger essential oil was shown to be dose-dependent. However, it has been demonstrated that ginger ethanolic extract 50% and 100% has a stronger antimicrobial effect against B.subtilis. Conclusion: Ginger essential oil and ethanolic extract showed different degree of antibacterial activity against food-borne bacteria due to compound contained within respective extracts, with a higher degree of activity found in ginger essential oil. These may show that different ginger extract may have different antibacterial activity.

Abstract

Introduction: Oral health awareness in Indonesia is still low with more and more oral and/or dental infection becomes more prevalent such as gingivitis, endodontitis, and pericoronitis. These infections could be caused by mouth microflora such as lactobacilli, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus mitis, Streptococcus oralis, and Streptococcus sobrinus. As time goes by, these bacteria could also become more problematic as antibacterial resistance emerges. Betel nut and betel leaf are well known traditional herbs that is often used in combination for "nyirih"; an Indonesian tradition to chew both plants often after meal. It is believed that these plants treat bad breath and also increases oral health as it could inhibit bacterial growth. Method: Betel nut and betel leaf were dried, powdered and macerated using 96% ethanol. The extract was tested on mouth microflora of volunteers grown in BHI using agar using disk diffusion test and modified E-test strip. Results: The betel leaves extract showed antibacterial activity in most of concentration used (1.25%, 2.5%, 5%, 10%) while betel nuts only gave antimicrobial effect in 10% concentration. The E-test results also showed the synergistic action between Piper betel leaves and Areca catechu nuts with some giving significant difference compared to the single treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion: Piper betel leaves gives antimicrobial effect with MIC value of 1.25% while Areca catechu have MIC value of 10%. Furthermore, combination of both resulted in synergistic effect as indicated with larger diameter of inhibition compared to the single treatments.

Abstract

Background: Lemongrass and ginger are traditional food ingredients in Asian countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, India, and Malaysia. Although their single essential oil has been assessed for its antibacterial activities, no report has been done for their combination. Material and methods: Our study evaluated single and combination of these herbs for their antibacterial properties against food-borne bacteria E. coli (NEB® catalog No. C2989K), B. subtilis (ATCC 6633), S. typhi (ATCC 14028) and S. aureus (InaCC B4). Essential oil of lemongrass and ginger were obtained by steam distillation and their antimicrobial were evaluated using disk diffusion assay with chloramphenicol as the standard antibiotic. Synergistic activity was assessed using the combination of materials at two or four-fold dilution from their respected MIC value. Results: We confirmed that single lemongrass and ginger essential oils inhibited the bacteria growth with MIC value of about 1-5% and 2.5-5%, respectively. Moreover, their synergism activities were observed when both were mixed at two-fold dilution from their respective MIC. Conclusion: We conclude that the combination of the ginger essential oils and lemongrass essential oils may have potential as a natural preservative to prevent food-borne diseases.

Abstract

Recycled Paper Hub is a business unit mainly focus in processing recycled paper sorted from local collector who also act as supplier such as waste paper collected from traditional market, ex-packaging collected from home industry and household waste, etc. Recycled Paper Hub primary goal is to participate in the sustainable business by contributing to the economy of the surrounding community along with a commitment to maintaining a green environment. In order to achieve this goals, Recycled Paper Hub conduct business development strategy which include financial planning and projection. The method used in this research is using data that has been previously collected and analyzed within 3 stages, namely : data collection (internaly from company that the author is working, then data filtering, and finally data presentation along with conclusion. Within this research, financial planning is distributed in 5 main pillars, that is : Financial Objectives, ,Financial Elements, Financial Projections, Feasibility Analysis, and Performance Analysis.

Abstract

Abstract—Norse Mythology is a mythology that originated in the Scandinavian region, which is the basis of all mythologies in the area. At this time, people's knowledge of Norse mythology was only obtained from films, and the adaptation was not in accordance with the original mythology. Submission of stories remains inauthentic due to additional characters that are not present in the original story, thus affecting the authentication of the mythology being conveyed. To educate the public about Norse mythology, interesting media are needed but can also convey a message by not changing the specific elements of the mythology. The survey was conducted on 53 teen respondents and fans of the Marvel franchise. From the survey results, 88% of respondents had never used a motion comic application, but were interested in trying a motion comic application. Through the survey results, a motion comic with the theme of Norse Mythology was made to fulfill the stated goals. The results of the design will be implemented and have several options, including Starting Story, Journal, and Credit. Start Story will start the story from beginning to end, with a mini game in the middle. The journal is a collection of information about the Ragnarok War, and the Credit contains the names of those who intervened in making the Ragnarok motion comic. The making of this motion comic uses several programs. The verification and validation stage is carried out after the implementation has been completed. This application can help teens and adults to understand the mythological story of the Ragnarok War, based on the results of the validation that has been done. Keywords: motion comic, mythology, Norse, Ragnarok, war Abstrak—Mitologi Nordik merupakan mitologi yang berasal dari daerah Skandinavia, yang merupakan dasar dari segala mitologi yang berada pada daerah tersebut. Pada masa ini, pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai mitologi Nordik hanya didapat dari film, dan adaptasi tersebut tidak sesuai dengan mitologi aslinya. Penyampaian cerita tetap tidak autentik dikarenakan adanya karakter tambahan yang tidak ada dalam cerita aslinya, sehingga mempengaruhi autentikasi mitologi yang disampaikan. Untuk mengedukasi masyarakat mengenai mitologi Nordik, maka dibutuhkan media yang menarik namun juga dapat menyampaikan suatu pesan tersebut dengan tidak mengubah unsur khas dari mitologi tersebut. Survei dilakukan kepada 53 responden remaja dan fans dari franchise Marvel. Dari hasil survey, 88% responden belum pernah menggunakan aplikasi motion comic, namun tertarik untuk mencoba aplikasi motion comic. Melalui hasil survei tersebut, dibuatlah sebuah motion comic bertema Mitologi Nordik untuk memenuhi tujuan yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil desain akan diimplementasikan dan memiliki beberapa pilihan, diantaranya adalah Mulai Cerita, Jurnal, dan Kredit. Mulai Cerita akan memulai cerita dari awal hingga akhir, dengan mini game di tengah-tengah. Jurnal adalah kumpulan dari informasi mengenai Perang Ragnarok, dan Kredit berisi nama-nama pihak yang turut campur tangan dalam pembuatan motion comic Ragnarok. Pembuatan motion comic ini menggunakan beberapa program. Tahap verifikasi dan validasi dilakukan setelah implementasi telah selesai. Aplikasi ini dapat membantu remaja dan dewasa untuk memahami cerita mitologi Perang Ragnarok, berdasarkan hasil validasi yang telah dilakukan. Abstract

Abstract— Proses pembuatan produk multimedia menggunakan pendekatan yang identik dengan rekayasa perangkat lunak (SDLC). Pada pengembangannya, SDLC mengalami modifikasi sesuai dengan ruang lingkup dataset multimedia dan memunculkan metodologi Multimedia Development Lifecylce (MDLC). Namun metodologi ini memiliki kelemahan apabila produk multimedia yang dikembangkan berbasis waktu karena memiliki pendekatan yang berbeda. Sebagai contoh produksi film umumnya mementingkan tahap pra-produksi, produksi dan pasca-produksi seperti pada alur pengerjaan proses produksi video. Tahapan ini belum pernah diakomodasi sebelumnya pada standar MDLC. Kami mengusulkan modifikasi MDLC untuk mengkombinasikan proses produksi video agar dapat membantu pihak pengembang dalam merencanakan dan membangun produk multimedia berbasis waktu. Untuk memvalidasi usulan metode ini, kami menggunakan studi kasus film dokumenter krupuk Amplang Balikpapan. Studi kasus ini dipilih karena krupuk Amplang Balikpapan kurang dikenal oleh masyarakat terutama dari luar Balikpapan. Popularitasnya masih dibawah krupuk Amplang Samarinda. Film dokumenter ini perlu dilengkapi dengan perangkat pelengkap dalam bentuk website interaktif sehingga relevan dengan penerapan modifikasi MDLC. Hasil pengujian menggunakan Film Analysis Guide serta uji t berpasangan terhadap data responden setelah memakai produk ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode usulan modifikasi MDLC dapat menjadi alternatif pengembangan produk multimedia berbasis waktu. Keywords: mdlc, proses produksi video, film dokumenter, amplang, balikpapan Abstrak— The production of multimedia products follows a methodology that is identical to software engineering (SDLC). During the process of its development, the Standard Development Lifecycle (SDLC) was altered to accommodate the comprehensive nature of the multimedia dataset, which resulted in the emergence of the Multimedia Development Lifecycle (MDLC) methodology. On the other hand, if the multimedia product that is being developed is time-based, then this methodology is inadequate because it takes a different approach. For instance, the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of film production are the most important ones to focus on, just as they are in the workflow of the video production process. The MDLC standard has never before made room for this level in any of its iterations. As a result, we suggest a change to the MDLC in order to combine the video production process in order to provide developers with assistance in the process of planning and producing time-based multimedia products. In order to demonstrate the viability of this proposed strategy, we conducted a case study based on the documentary film crackers Amplang Balikpapan. The Amplang Balikpapan crackers were selected for this case study because they are not as well known by the general public, particularly those who are not from the Balikpapan area. Its notoriety is not yet on par with that of the crackers sold in Amplang Samarinda. In addition, in order for this documentary to be useful in the process of implementing the MDLC alteration, it needs to be accompanied with supplementary resources. One example of these tools is an interactive website. The results of the test using the Film Analysis Guide and a t-paired test of the respondent's data after using this product can be obtained by saying that the modified MDLC method can be an alternative time-based multimedia product development. Abstract

Abstract—Artikel ini membahas tentang perbedaan antara multimedia interaktif dan non-interaktif. Multimedia non-interaktif ditampilkan dalam format linier dan pengguna tidak dapat berinteraksi dengan kontennya, sedangkan multimedia interaktif memungkinkan pengguna untuk berinteraksi dan mengontrol cara konten ditampilkan. Dalam pembuatan produk multimedia, developer biasanya mengacu pada dua metode, yaitu Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) dan Multimedia Production Stage (MPS). MSEM (Multimedia Software Engineering Methodology) adalah metode pengembangan perangkat lunak yang didesain untuk membantu dalam pembuatan aplikasi multimedia interaktif atau non-interaktif. Studi ini mengkaji manfaat MSEM pada implementasi produk multimedia dengan mempelajari dampak dan manfaat penggunaan MSEM pada perangkat promosi wisata lokal yang memuat multimedia interaktif dan non-interaktif. Manfaat penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan masukan pihak developer multimedia untuk menggunakan MSEM dalam merencanakan dan mengembangkan produk multimedia. Abstrak—This article discusses the difference between interactive and non-interactive multimedia. Non-interactive multimedia is displayed in a linear format and users cannot interact with its content, while interactive multimedia allows users to interact and control the way content is displayed. In the creation of multimedia products, developers usually refer to two methods, the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and the Multimedia Production Stage (MPS). MSEM (Multimedia Software Engineering Methodology) is a software development method designed to assist in the creation of interactive or non-interactive multimedia applications. This study examines the benefits of MSEM in multimedia product implementation by studying the impact and benefits of using MSEM in promoting local tourism products containing interactive and non-interactive multimedia. The purpose of this research is to provide input for multimedia developers to use MSEM in planning and developing multimedia products.
