Abstract

Retired people experience reduced income and boredom due to reduced daily activities. This was felt by retirees in RW 11 Pamulang Timur, Tangerang South. High levels of community activity at home also impact the increase in waste in the home environment. Efforts to overcome these two problems include implementing productive activities aimed at increasing household economic income and overcoming the problem of waste in the home environment. It is hoped that community service through training on ecological enzyme production from leftover vegetables or fruits can solve the waste problem and create products with high economic value. Through a 3-month fermentation process with the addition of brown sugar, an ecological enzyme liquid is created that serves as a floor cleaner, dishwashing liquid, disinfectant, bio-fertilizer as well as many other uses. Another benefit is that it contains a variety of enzymes obtained from fermentation. of lactic bacteria. The community received traditional training materials for one day, then was supported in the eco-enzyme production process for 3 months until the product was ready for harvest. The community is also trained in product marketing strategies using online media, advertising strategies, calculating costs, and selling prices, and writing simple financial reports. Production will begin in July 2023 and be ready for harvest in September 2023. Each resident produces a minimum of 1.5 liters to 5 liters of ecological enzyme solution. The resulting product is packaged in used bottles ready for the market. Some are packaged as ready-to-use products, such as hand sanitizer, shampoo, dishwashing liquid, and others. It is hoped that the proceeds from the sale of ecological enzymes can be used as a product to improve the economy at the household level with high efficiency.

Abstract

Probiotic drinks are needed to enrich the microbiome in the digestive organs. Increasing age causes a decrease in the ability of cells to metabolize food, resulting in various degenerative diseases. Tepache probiotic drinks, made from pineapple skin, contain magnesium minerals for bone health, vitamins A, B, and C. Through fermentation, it is enriched by lactic acid bacteria which play a role in helping food metabolism in the intestines and increasing the immune response. Counseling on making tepache probiotic drinks for Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK) mothers RW 11 Pamulang Timur is expected to improve public health and stimulate the household economy. The method of implementing community service is carried out by means of socialization of the benefits of probiotic drinks, training in making tepache probiotic drinks, financial management and marketing training, and production assistance. Tepache drinks are made from pineapple skin fermented for 24 hours using brown sugar, water, cloves, and cinnamon. The success of fermentation is indicated by the presence of white grains on the surface of the liquid. The fermentation results are filtered and can be consumed directly. The results of the counseling produced a tepache drink product that has been routinely consumed by PKK mothers RW 11 Pamulang Timur, and has an impact on reducing knee pain, tension, blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol. The results of household-scale sales have not shown significant profits, but simple calculations if pursued will increase household income.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the historical and cultural values of dangke as a traditional food, its potential as a source of animal protein, and the methods of its preparation and presentation. This qualitative descriptive study used in-depth interviews with key informants, focus group discussions with primary and supporting informants, and observation to collect data. The findings of this study indicate that dangke, which was originally made from buffalo milk and enriched with enzymes from papaya sap, reflects the culinary heritage of the Massenrempulu tribe in Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi. However, the limited supply of buffalo milk has led to the modification of dangke using cow's milk in some parts of Enrekang. Historically, dangke has been served with rice or "pulu mandoti" to guests since the colonial era. The origin of the term "dangke" itself has roots in the Dutch language, possibly from the expression "dank je wel" (thank you) used by Dutch soldiers after tasting this delicious dish. In addition, previous studies have shown that dangke has a high protein content, making it a valuable food source to support the diversification of animal protein sources. In conclusion, dangke has a high cultural value for the people of Enrekang and is a traditional food with high nutritional value, especially in terms of protein content.

Abstract

Tele-exercise delivers remote physical activity programs via digital platforms, enhancing accessibility and adherence, making it a promising strategy to address obesity among workers. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of tele-exercise programs on body fat percentage, lipid profile, mental health measures and Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) gene expression measured via venipuncture & RT-PCR in obese office employees. A total of 33 overweight or obese employees (male/female, 18-45 years old, Body Mass Index (BMI) 23-30 kg/m2) were randomly assigned to the strength (SE) group, strength-cardio (SC) group, and control (CT) group. The strength exercise protocol included core training, circuit training, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Tabata training; cardio exercise includes low-high impact aerobic exercises. Each group was given nutrition education, whereas the two intervention groups participated in tele-exercise three times/week for twelve weeks. Tele-exercise was delivered via ZOOM application. Mental health indicators were measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-42) questionnaire. Compliance levels between intervention groups did not differ significantly (p>0.05). There was a significant reduction in bodyweight in the SC group (p=0.046). Blood High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) levels increased only in the SC group (0.50 mg/dL), but decreased in the SE group and CT group. SIRT1 gene expression increased in SE and CT groups (2.39- and 5.33-fold, respectively), whereas a significant decrease was observed in the SC group (p=0.043). Only the SE group showed a significant reduction in stress level (p=0.03), with a decrease of 30.9%. Strength exercise intervention improves total cholesterol level by -19.09 mg/dL.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Hypertension is one of the most common non-communicable diseases affecting the elderly, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. This condition often goes unnoticed due to its asymptomatic nature in the early stages, yet it can lead to serious complications if not properly managed. The purpose of this community service activity was to improve the knowledge of elderly individuals regarding the prevention of hypertension, both before and after medical diagnosis. The method involved health assessments, health education sessions, distribution of informative leaflets, and guided hypertension exercise sessions as a form of simple physical activity. Based on the results of the pre-test, it was found that 46.9% of participants had a good understanding of hypertension prevention. After the intervention, this figure increased to 76.25%, indicating a 29.35% improvement in knowledge. These findings suggest that direct community-based education is effective in enhancing awareness and understanding of hypertension prevention and management among the elderly. This initiative is expected to promote healthier behaviors and help prevent complications related to hypertension within the community. Keywords: Elderly Hypertension, Health Education, Primary and Secondary Prevention.  ABSTRAK Hipertensi merupakan salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang banyak dialami oleh kelompok lanjut usia, terutama di negara berkembang seperti Indonesia.
