Abstract

Abstract

Community service activities were conducted in Koto Mesjid Village, XIII Koto Kampar District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, where most residents rely on fishery products, especially catfish. An initial survey identified the problem of underutilized smoked catfish waste, which also caused environmental pollution. To address this, partners from the village's smoked catfish industry were aided in handling the waste by processing it into organic fertilizer. This initiative aimed to enhance the community's knowledge and skills in waste management, reducing pollution while increasing the economic value of fish waste. The activities spanned eight months, involving preparation, partner engagement, monitoring, and publication. Socialization, material support, counseling, and training were critical methods used. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge about producing organic fertilizer from fish waste.

Abstract

Teluk Makmur Village, Medang Kampai District, Dumai City, is one of the peatland pineapple production centers with considerable potential to be developed into value-added processed products. However, pineapple processing by community business groups is still carried out manually using simple household equipment, resulting in low production efficiency and inconsistent product quality. This community service activity aimed to improve the technology readiness of peatland pineapple jam processing at the Puak Milenial Business Group in Dumai City by applying appropriate technology. The methods included identifying initial production conditions, implementing appropriate technologies such as pineapple peeling knives, pineapple grating machines, and stainless-steel jam stirrer machines, and providing technical assistance during the production process. The evaluation used a descriptive-comparative approach, comparing the production system before and after technological intervention. The results showed that the application of appropriate technology improved operational readiness of production by shifting the production system from a manual to a more structured, semi-standardized system at the household industry scale. In addition to improving production efficiency, the use of more hygienic equipment also supported better food production practices. This activity indicates that the application of appropriate technology can be an effective strategy to strengthen the technical capacity of local potential-based MSMEs.

The person of supply chain in frozen pangasius fish fillets are supplier of pangasius fish raw material, entrepreneur of frozen pangasius fish fillets and customer. The circle supply chain consists of product flow, financial flow and information flow. The performance SCOR of frozen pangasius fish fillets generally is performing well. DEA in frozen pangasius fish fillets has 5 suppliers that achieve 100% efficiency in green condition, from December 2018 to January 2019. While the frozen pangasius fish fillets supply chain achieve 100% efficiency in green condition obtained in January 2019. Cash-to-cash cycle time sensitivity are the most influential variable on efficiency value of the pangasius fish supply chain and there is no sensitivity value that most influences the efficiency of frozen pangasius fish fillets. Recommendations for improvement of the total potential improvement namely variable input cash-to-cash cycle time 98,78% and input costs 1,22%.
