Abstract

This research aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes through the application of the Discovery Learning model in the acid and base material of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Tareran in the 2023/2024 school year. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The subjects in this study were 11th grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tareran, totaling 12 students. This research includes 4 stages (1) planning stage, (2) implementation, (3) observation, (4) reflection. Data collection methods used in this study were observation method, and post-test. The results showed that with the Discovery Learning learning model there was an increase in student learning outcomes, namely from cycle I 73.91%. In cycle II with improved actions in the form of learning activities by dividing students into groups, students conduct discussions according to the learning material, namely acids and bases, students work together, students collect discussion results and make conclusions with guidance from the beginning to the end of learning activities, there was an increase from 73.91% to 85.5%.

Abstract

Flipped classroom merupakan pendekatan pembelajaran di mana isi materi dan keterampilan yang biasanya diajarkan selama sesi kelas disampaikan di luar kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi peningkatan hasil belajar mahasiswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran flipped classroom pada materi stokiometri dalam kuliah kimia dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen dan desain one-group pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 35 mahasiswa kelas A di program studi pendidikan matematika Universitas Negeri Manado (Unima). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes hasil belajar dengan memberikan pretest sebelum proses perkuliahan dan posttest setelah proses perkuliahan dilaksanakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata hasil belajar mahasiswa pada pretest adalah 49,33, sedangkan pada posttest meningkat menjadi 87,33. Pengujian N-Gain score menunjukkan skor sebesar 77%, yang masuk dalam kategori efektif dan tinggi. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model flipped classroom secara efektif dan signifikan meningkatkan hasil belajar mahasiswa pada materi stokiometri dalam kuliah kimia dasar di program studi pendidikan matematika Unima.

Abstract

Quinolones are heterocyclic compounds that are important in medicine and materials for DSSCs or OLEDs. One thing that is rarely studied is the ability to detect metal ions. Diazo groups have an important role in forming complexes with metal ions. This research aims to obtain initial information regarding the metal detection capabilities of diazo quinolinone compounds. The compound 7-[(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)diazenyl]-4-methyl-2-quinolinone is the test target. Tests were carried out with various metal ions in MeOH. Next, the wavelength of the complex was determined using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of complex analysis of Compound 2 with various metal ions show the potential to be an indication of the presence of metal ions.

Abstract

Momordica balsamina L. is a wild plant that generally grows in moist soil and gets a lot of sunlight. The leaves and fruit are reported to have various medicinal and nutritional properties. This study aimed to isolate and identify the compounds contained in the ethyl acetate fraction in Momordica balsamina L The isolation stage was carried out by the maceration method and the separation and purification of the compounds using gravity column chromatography methods to obtain isolate fraction F1.6.2 with a sample weight of 2.4 mg. Identification of compounds using proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance (13C-NMR) spectroscopy techniques. The proposed identified compound is octadecan-3-one or 3-octadecanone with the molecular formula C18H36O

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the quality of multiple-choice items in the "Chemistry Boost" test from FMIPAK Unima, based on responses from 80 high school students answering 40 items. The validity test used a combination of Discrimination Index (DI) and Difficulty Level (DL). DI has 6 categories: Very Good, Good Enough, Marginal, Poor Discrimination, Negative, while DL consists of 6 categories: Discarded, Very Easy, Easy, Maintained, Very Difficult, and Reviewed for deficiencies or taught. The results obtained are 23 valid items, or 57.5%. Based on the results, the cognitive processes of Anderson's revised Bloom Taxonomy were determined, with valid items in C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6 being 2, 2, 12, 6, 0, respectively. Items categorized as Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are in C4 and C5, totaling 18 items. Valid chemistry topics include Acid-Base, Atomic Structure, Stoichiometry, and Reaction Rates. Topics less understood by participants include Compounds and Chemical Formulas, Solubility, Chemical Equilibrium, Ionization Energy, Redox, Electrochemistry, and Hydrocarbons.

Abstract

The identification of bioactive peptides with therapeutic potential is an emerging focus in drug discovery. In this study, we evaluated the structural stability and binding affinity of the oyster-derived peptide YAKRCFR through molecular modeling and docking simulations against the human peroxiredoxin receptor. Structural prediction using the PEP-FOLD4 server revealed a consistent α-helical conformation across all models, stabilized by key intramolecular hydrogen bonds and favorable sOPEP energy values. Molecular docking was validated with a root mean square deviation (RMSD) of 0.273 Å, confirming the reliability of the docking protocol. The YAKRCFR peptide exhibited a strong binding affinity with the 1HD2 receptor (ΔG = –8.1 kcal/mol), outperforming both ascorbic acid (–6.1 kcal/mol) and the native ligand (–4.862 kcal/mol). Detailed interaction analysis indicated that YAKRCFR forms stable hydrogen bonds and van der Waals interactions with critical residues such as ILE A119 and PHE A120, contributing to its thermodynamic stability and binding specificity. These findings suggest that YAKRCFR holds promise as a lead compound for further development in peptide-based therapeutic strategies, particularly for targets involving the human peroxiredoxin receptor.
