Abstract

White pepper production is not in line with the government's extensification and intensification efforts, these are due to disease infection in the pepper plant that tends to increase. Information about disease progression of black pepper plants in production center areas is rarely updated. This research was conducted to observe and determine incidence and severity disease of the black pepper plantations by using the purposive sampling method. The results of the study found three types of disease that infected on black pepper plantations in the South Bangka Regency, namely yellow disease, stem rot disease, and viral disease. The incidence and severity disease are relatively higher in the Tukak Sadai District than others. The incidences of yellow disease, rot stem disease, and viral disease about 3,33 to 90,48 %; 0 to 43,70 %, and 12,5 to 100 %, respectively. The severity of rot stem disease until 43,11 %; and viral disease about 4,58 to 59,57 %.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a very strategic role in community-based economic development in Indonesia. The existence of MSMEs has been proven to be able to survive when facing a crisis. This is because MSMEs are only on a small scale, so the business capital requirements are small, and they are able to adapt to market needs. Aspects that are very important to support the existence of MSMEs are business legality, packaging design and digital-based marketing. The Culinary Community of Pangkalpinang City has superior products. The products have been marketed to the public and are often offered at District, Regency and Provincial level exhibitions. However, these products do not yet have an attractive and safe packaging design. Based on the results of an audience with the Culinary Community administrators, to overcome this problem assistance is needed for MSME actors to design packaging for the Culinary Community. This activity will involve the management of the Culinary Community by facilitating several products to make packaging designs attractive and safe. To realize this there are several problems that partners (MSMEs) have, namely: lack of knowledge about designing stickers and product packaging in an attractive and safe manner. Solutions that can be offered to help partners by socializing and assisting safe and attractive sticker and packaging designs. To reach a wider market share, socialization and assistance is carried out in designing stickers and packaging. This community service activity went well. The results of the socialization activities found that the target partners understood the importance of packaging designs that were attractive, informative and could be used as promotions. Partners understand packaging can increase product sales. At the end of the mentoring activity, the service team facilitated and handed over standing pounch packages made of aluminum foil to three target partners representing the culinary community of Pangkalpinang City. The hope of the Pangkalpinang City Tourism Office is that this community service activity can continue to increase the existence and development of culinary delights in Pangkalpinang City.

Abstract

Abstract

The island region, especially in urban areas, has geographical characteristics with limited land that is an obstacle to increasing food security and the community's economy. This condition requires a creative solution, namely the application of urban farming through hydroponic techniques to maximize the use of available resources. This service aims to develop urban agriculture through hydroponics to increase food security and the household economy in Jerambah Gantung Village, Pangkalpinang City. The methods used in this service are socialization, training, and mentoring for the Kenanga Women's Farmers Group (KWT), which consists of 12 women who are expected to be pioneers in the application of urban farming in Pangkapinang City. They are given knowledge and trained in urban farming practices, especially hydroponic techniques. The results of this service are an increase in the knowledge of KWT Kenanga members, as shown by an increase in the average pre-test and post-test results with an initial score of 70 to 95. Then, a skill increase was reflected in the harvest quantity, which increased by 37 percent, or originally 35 kg in the first harvest, to 48 kg in the second harvest. There is also an increase in community involvement and agricultural culture, which is marked by an increase in the implementation of independent hydroponics. Thus, this service not only provides direct benefits for KWT Kenanga members but is also expected to contribute to the development of broader urban farming in Pangkalpinang City.

Abstract

The Bangka Belitung Islands Province is a major centre of black pepper production in Indonesia. Black pepper production in Indonesia has dropped, so it needs to be increased using superior varieties. Identifying the genetic diversity of black pepper plants is important for breeding superior varieties. The study's objective was to determine the genetic diversity and relationships of Bangka landrace black pepper using SSR markers. This research was conducted from June to August 2024 at the Biology Laboratory, Universitas Bangka Belitung. The black pepper genotypes used in this study were as follows: Lampung Daun Kecil (LDK), Nyelungkup, Petaling 1, Chunuk, Peremis, Balunijuk 1, Balunijuk 2, and Jerambah Gantung. The SSR markers employed in this study included Psol3, Psol6, Psol9, Psol10, Psol11, Psol17, and Psol19. The genetic relationship of Bangka black pepper was analysed using the UPGMA method. Genetic relationship revealed two main clusters of eight Bangka black pepper genotypes. Cluster I consisted of the Peremis and Balunijuk 2 genotype, while the remaining six genotypes were contained within cluster II. The structure population exhibited two subpopulations, with FST values of 0.30 and 0.61, respectively. The results showed that the seven primers used produced polymorphic (82.1%) and monomorphic (17.9%) bands on eight pepper genotypes. The Polymorphic Information Content (PIC) value of all primers tested was found to be medium, with the exception of Psol9, which exhibited a low PIC value. The average PIC value was 0.32, which is categorized as medium.
