Abstract

Koi fish are a freshwater fish that widespread interest because of the variety of patterns and the color combination. One of the attempt to enhance the quality of color is to add a source of pigment in the food that will help the improving color process in a fish's body. This study aims to determine an optimum dose of increasing combination the Spirulina and carrot flour on the feed towards the brightness levels of color and growth of the Koi fish. The study used Randomized completely design (RCD) that consist four treatments and three repetitions. The combination dosage used in each treatment is P1 (100% rebon shrimp flour), P2 (60% rebon shrimp flour + 5% spirulina + 35% carrot flour), P3 (60% rebon shrimp flour + 10% Spirulina + 30% carrot flour) and P4 (60% rebon shrimp flour + 15% Spirulina + 25% carrot flour). The study is done for 30 days with the frequency of feeding four times a day at 8:00 a.m., 12:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.. Feed is fed on the fish to their fullest (ad-satiation). The study shows that adding spirulina and carrot flour combinations to the rebon shrimp feed has a real impact on changing color levels of TCF (Toca Color Finder), red dimensional changes, growth of the long and the weight of the koi fish (P<0,05) but have no visible effect on the brightness changes in l *a*b* Koi (P > 0,05). TCF color level changes (Toca Color Finder), red color dimensional changes, l *a*b color changes, the highest growth of long and weight found in P3 (60% rebon shrimp flour + 10% spirulina + 30% carrot flour). Abstract

Seawater quality is a key factor in determining the health of coastal ecosystems and the sustainability of marine resources. Anthropogenic activities such as the discharge of industrial and domestic waste, marine transportation, and intensive fishing practices can influence the physical, chemical, and biological parameters of seawater. Research on seawater quality in the marine waters of Bontang City has been conducted, but remains very limited in number. This study aims to analyze the Seawater Quality Index (IKAL) in the marine waters of Bontang City. The analytical method employed refers to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia No. 27 of 2021. The results indicate that the average Seawater Quality Index (IKAL) in Bontang City during the second semester of 2023 was 72.69, which is categorized as good condition.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between the level of perception and the level of community participation in household waste management in Loa Bakung Village. The research employed both quantitative and qualitative methods using questionnaires, literature review, and direct observation. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling with a total of 80 participants. The results show a p-value of 0.001 ≤ α = 0.05 with a correlation coefficient of 0.361, indicating that there is a correlation between perception and participation in waste management, although the relationship is weak and positive. Qualitative findings reveal that waste banks can help reduce waste volume (66.3%) and highlight the importance of separating organic and inorganic waste (61.3%). However, actual participation remains limited, with only a small proportion of respondents regularly practicing waste sorting, composting, or recycling. The suggested recommendation is the need for awareness programs through KIE (Communicative, Implementation, and Education) approaches and regular monitoring.

Abstract

Peningkatan 10 μg/m³ paparan PM2.5, kemungkinan terkena retinopati diabetik meningkat sebesar 41%. Kesimpulan: pada pasien DM, semakin tinggi paparan partikulat, semakin tinggi pula risiko DR. Sangat penting untuk mengurangi paparan  PM2.5. Kata kunci : Partikulat Mater, DM, retinopathy, biomarker

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the impact of betaine supplementation in artificial feed on the biological performance of tinfoil barb (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) fingerlings, specifically focusing on survival rate, growth rate, and feed efficiency, while also determining the most effective dosage. The research was conducted for 30 days at the Experimental Pond Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Mulawarman University, utilizing a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The tested betaine dosages included 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3% of the total feed weight. The findings indicated that betaine supplementation at various concentrations did not have a statistically significant effect (P>0.05) on the survival or growth parameters of the fish. However, the treatment with a 2% betaine dosage recorded the highest positive trend in terms of total length, absolute weight, daily growth rate, and feed efficiency. The survival rate reached 100% across all treatments, suggesting that the addition of betaine to the diet did not result in a significant difference in the survival rate of the research subjects.
