Abstract

This study aims to analyze the issues surrounding the use of figurative language, specifically comparison, contrast, association, and emphasis, in the discussions of netizens on social media related to the 2024 Presidential Election. Using a stylistic approach, this research seeks to analyze how netizens use figurative language to express political views, criticism, and support for presidential candidates. Data were collected from posts and comments related to the presidential election topic on various social media platforms, such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. A qualitative descriptive analysis method was employed to identify and categorize the use of these language styles. The results show that comparison and emphasis are frequently used by netizens to reinforce opinions and build a positive image of the supported presidential candidates. On the other hand, contrast is more often found in comments containing criticism and political debates. In conclusion, figurative language plays a significant role in the dynamics of social interaction and political communication among netizens on social media, reflecting high public engagement in national political issues. This research contributes to the study of political language and social interaction in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the existence of the Javanese language in Wonomulyo within a multicultural context, identifies factors supporting and inhibiting its maintenance, and interprets its significance through the philosophy of language. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving community leaders, teachers, parents, and youths. The findings indicate that Javanese continues to maintain moderate vitality, particularly within family, community, and cultural–ritual domains such as selamatan and kenduren. In these contexts, Javanese functions not only as a means of communication but also as a medium for transmitting moral values, social etiquette, and collective identity, especially through the practice of unggah-ungguh. However, language maintenance faces significant challenges. The dominance of Indonesian in formal education, public spaces, and digital communication has led to a gradual narrowing of Javanese use, particularly among younger generations. While youths remain bilingual, Indonesian is increasingly associated with modernity and mobility, whereas Javanese is largely confined to symbolic and intimate domains. From a philosophical perspective drawing on Wittgenstein, Heidegger, and Foucault, the study argues that the weakening of Javanese reflects not only linguistic change but also shifts in meaning, identity, and power relations. The study highlights the need for integrated efforts involving families, communities, education, and digital spaces to sustain regional languages in multicultural societies.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman anggota mengenai peraturan dan etika berbahasa di media sosial sekaligus menumbuhkan pola pikir kritis melalui pendekatan stilistika. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif melalui sosialisasi dan pelatihan yang meliputi literasi UU ITE, etika berbahasa digital, dan analisis gaya bahasa. Karang Taruna Tammangalle sebagai mitra kegiatan merupakan organisasi kepemudaan Desa Tammangalle yang beranggotakan 30 pemuda aktif. Evaluasi program dilakukan menggunakan pre–post test, angket skala Likert 4 poin, dan lembar observasi konten digital untuk mengukur perubahan pengetahuan dan perilaku berbahasa peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman yang signifikan, dengan rata-rata skor 3,45 pada tahap persiapan, 3,48 pada pelaksanaan, dan 3,53 setelah kegiatan, seluruhnya termasuk kategori “Sangat Baik.” Peserta juga menunjukkan peningkatan kesadaran hukum, penggunaan gaya bahasa yang lebih santun, serta perilaku komunikasi digital yang lebih reflektif. Dengan demikian, sosialisasi melalui pendekatan stilistika terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi digital, kesadaran hukum, dan etika berbahasa anggota Karang Taruna Tammangalle.
