Abstract

This study aims to develop the “Deep Talk” Flash Card media as an innovative tool in group guidance services to enhance junior high school students’ ability to plan their future studies. The research was motivated by the fact that many ninth-grade students still experience confusion about their next educational pathway due to limited self-reflection skills, insufficient career information, and a lack of interactive counselling media. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects consisted of 20 ninth-grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Dukuhwaru, and the media’s feasibility was assessed by a material expert and a media expert. Data were collected through needs assessment questionnaires, validation sheets, pre-test and post-test instruments, and observation guidelines. The results show that the Deep Talk Flash Card media was categorised as highly feasible, with feasibility scores of 89% for the material aspect and 92% for the media aspect. The implementation of group guidance using this media effectively improved students’ study planning abilities, as indicated by an increase from the “fair” category in the pre-test to the “good” category in the post-test. Students also demonstrated greater engagement, higher confidence in expressing opinions, and improved reflective skills. Thus, the Deep Talk Flash Card media is effective and can serve as an innovative alternative for school counsellors to help students make more mature, well-directed educational decisions.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed educational practices, including guidance and counseling services in schools. This study aims to analyze the role of digital media Google Sites in classical guidance services to improve students' self-discipline. This research is motivated by the low level of students' self-discipline, characterized by tardiness, non-compliance with school rules, and low responsibility in completing academic tasks. A quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. The subjects of this study were junior high school students who participated in classical guidance services using Google Sites as an interactive digital medium. Data were collected through self-discipline questionnaires, observation sheets, and documentation. The results show a significant improvement in students' self-discipline after the implementation of Google Sites-based classical guidance services. Indicators such as time management, rule compliance, learning responsibility, and self-control demonstrated notable increases. These findings indicate that Google Sites serves not only as an information delivery platform but also as an effective medium to foster students' self-regulation and reflective learning. Therefore, the integration of Google Sites in classical guidance services is recommended as an innovative and effective strategy to enhance students' self-discipline in secondary education. Abstract

Social Studies (IPS) learning plays a strategic role in shaping students' social understanding, character, and cultural awareness. However, social studies learning at the junior high school level still faces the problem of low learning motivation due to conventional approaches that lack context. This condition is also found in Pemalang Regency, which has unique socio-economic characteristics and local wisdom potential in the form of batik that has not been optimally utilized in learning. This study aims to develop a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model for social studies education that incorporates the local wisdom of Pemalang batik as an effort to improve the relevance and quality of learning. The research used a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, limited to the Analyze, Design, and Develop stages. The research subjects included subject matter experts, learning model experts, and social studies teachers at three junior high schools in Pemalang Regency. Data collection was conducted through document analysis, limited interviews, literature studies, and expert validation. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively and quantitatively using a four-point Likert scale. The results showed that the PBL-based social studies learning module containing local wisdom of Pemalang Batik met the criteria of "Suitable" to "Very Suitable" based on the validators' assessment. This module was considered to have theoretical and practical validity and the potential to support contextual, meaningful, and oriented learning.
