Abstract

A sustainable economic approach involves achieving economic growth while preserving the environment. One solution aligned with green economy initiatives is the Solar Power Plant (PLTS), which utilizes sunlight as the primary energy source to generate electricity. In response to increasing energy demand and growing environmental concerns, a spare parts supply company in Karawang, West Java, has decided to adopt hybrid energy by investing in renewable energy sources through the installation of an on-grid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) on the factory roof. This study aims to evaluate the financial feasibility of this green economic initiative. The analysis considers various aspects, including initial investment costs, operational and maintenance expenses for key components (solar modules and inverters), potential savings in electricity costs, and the projected return on investment over a specific period. The financial analysis methods applied include Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (DPP), and Profitability Index (PI) to determine the project's economic viability. The findings indicate that the DPP is 2.43 years (well below the 25-year lifespan), NPV is Rp 1,433,144,387.92 (positive and greater than 1), IRR is 46.31% (exceeding the 5.75% benchmark), and PI is 1.95 (greater than 1). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the construction of a rooftop solar power plant with an on-grid system is a financially viable investment for the spare parts supply company in Karawang, West Java.

Abstract

The industrial revolution 4.0 has expanded business and economic transactions beyond the domestic sphere, fostering interactions between countries. This shift necessitates business entities that can facilitate seamless international transactions. Freight forwarding, as a key player in the logistics sector, plays a crucial role in enabling the movement of goods and services across international borders. However, freight forwarding companies face challenges from fluctuations in foreign exchange rates due to transactions involving suppliers and consumers from various countries, making them vulnerable to currency exchange rate volatility. This paper aims to understand the financial business processes of freight forwarding companies, particularly in managing financial risks and addressing currency exchange rate fluctuations. Additionally, it seeks to explore strategies to minimize the negative impact of exchange rate fluctuations on the financial stability of these companies. The research methodology is descriptive, employing surveys and interviews with freight forwarding companies and stakeholders in the logistics industry. Data triangulation with relevant agencies ensures more valid and comprehensive insights into how the industry addresses currency exchange rate challenges. The findings suggest that freight forwarding companies can mitigate losses from exchange rate fluctuations by implementing hedging strategies and adopting supply chain finance practices on an ongoing basis.

However, three of them—namely homestay, rice field culinary, and educational tourism—still face challenges in customer service and sales performance. Situation analysis revealed that reactive marketing approaches and the absence of communication standards have led to stagnant growth and a decline in visitor numbers. This community service program aimed to enhance effective communication skills among local entrepreneurs to support smart selling practices and improve customer retention. The program was implemented in three stages: (1) planning through focus group discussions (FGD) and SWOT analysis, (2) interactive training using simulation and role-playing methods, and (3) evaluation using pre- and post-tests as well as follow-up discussions. The target partner was the Brenjonk Organic Farmer Community with a total of 32 participants from the three non-agricultural business units. Evaluation results indicated a statistically significant improvement in participants’ understanding of effective communication and communication ethics, as shown by higher post-test scores. The program successfully equipped participants with practical skills for professional communication, customer understanding, and clear information delivery. As a sustainability measure, the development of communication standard operating procedures (SOP) is recommended to ensure consistent and high-quality service practices.   Keywords: communication skills; community empowerment; front-liner training; kampung Brenjonk; SDGs; smart selling

This type of research is explanatory research. The population of this study is coal subsector companies that consistently pay dividends from 2021 - 2023.  There are 7 company samples that have met certain adjusted criteria.
