Abstract

Education in the 21st century students are required to follow the development of the current learning model, teachers must provide and utilize a variety of teaching materials in order to attract students' learning interest in achieving learning goals. This study aims to develop a textbook on post-eruption volcanic management in Lumajang. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) development research using the Borg & Gall model which includes 10 steps, and is simplified into 8 stages in this study. The method used is interviews, tests and student responses. The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistics by interpreting the research results to get the average and proportion. Based on the results of the product validity test for textbooks based on volcanic fires, it showed a score of 84.8% in the very feasible category and the score from the student response questionnaire to textbooks showed a score of 84.73% in the very feasible category. The results of the proportion of total student completeness is 89.4% which indicates that learning using development products is effectively used to improve student learning outcomes. From these results, the textbooks that have been developed can be used when learning takes place in the classroom, this is to add new insights to new knowledge for students. From this research it is hoped that it will be able to encourage students to provide an understanding of the importance of reducing education and be able to apply the occurrence of an eruption.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service after the COVID-19 pandemic is to improve the tourism sector and creative economy in Cianaga Village, Sukabumi Regency. MSME and tourism mapping shows untapped potential. The village faces problems such as being in a disaster-prone area and not many people know about the creative economy opportunities. Students of KKN Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi work together with local governments and village patriots to increase public understanding of tourism, creative economy, and the use of digital technology through counseling and mentoring. Tourismassistance, MSME product development, entrepreneurship training, and digital marketing are some forms of community service. Mapping of small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) found that several business actors actively produce superior products. Becausethis village arena is under the foothills of Mount Halimun Salak which is prone to landslides, disaster mitigation counseling is also carried out. MSME players receive intensive assistance to improve product quality and marketing. One result is an integrated travel web, increased public understanding of the creative economy, and active participation in disaster reduction. Overall, this community service can improve the economy and welfare of Cianaga Village.

Abstract

Sumbawa is one of the regions in Indonesia which is famous as a producer of forest honey produced by Apis dorsata bees. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of temperature on the color, density, and viscosity of Apis dorsata bee forest honey originating from Lunyuk District, Sumbawa. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with temperature as a treatment factor. The results of the research show that temperature has a significant effect on the color, density, and viscosity of forest honey harvested around September 2021 at the beginning of the rainy season in the harvest area and its surroundings. Color testing using a calorimeter that produces a value of L*> 50 or light colored in various temperature treatments, namely 5oC, 26oC, and 35oC. Meanwhile, the density test showed the highest value, namely 1.48 g/m3 when the honey was at 5oC. Then, the highest viscosity value is 1.38 poise which also occurs when honey is at a temperature of 5oC. This shows that the best temperature for honey storage is 5oC compared to other temperature treatments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing students' character in Pancasila learning for 5th grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 5 Makmur. The PBL model was chosen because this approach provides meaningful learning experiences through contexts that are relevant to students' lives, enabling them to understand and apply norms and rules in everyday life. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed thematically to identify the impact of PBL on students' character development. The results show that PBL is effective in improving various aspects of students' character, such as responsibility, discipline, teamwork, and empathy. Students demonstrate more positive behavior at school and in their surroundings. Additionally, this model also enhances students' motivation to learn, as they are actively involved in the learning process. However, the implementation of PBL faces several challenges, such as the need for intensive guidance from teachers. To address these challenges, thorough planning and support from the school are necessary. In conclusion, the PBL model can make a significant contribution to students' character formation, especially in understanding and applying Pancasila learning. With further development, PBL can become an effective learning approach in elementary schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the students’ higher order thinking skills based on the concept of cognitive domain thinking in the revised version of Bloom's taxonomy on the science with ecosystem themes at elementary schools. This study used descriptive research with qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were the fifth grade students at SDN Kepatihan 06 Jember, SDN Sumbersari 03 Jember, and SDN kebonsari 04 Jember. The data were collected through tests and interviews. The results of this research were the students’ higher order thinking skills in the elementary schools had various categories, namely low, medium and high categories. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the students’ higher order thinking skills on the science with ecosystem theme at elementary schools were low category with 86.08%, medium category with 12.66%, and high category with 1.26%. The low level of thinking ability was influenced by the level of understanding of the concepts in the ecosystem material that led students to have problem in understanding it.

Abstract

Science literacy is an essential competency for primary school students to face 21st-century challenges. However, few assessment tools combine strong psychometric quality with cultural relevance. This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of a local wisdom–based science literacy instrument for primary school students within the Item Response Theory (IRT) framework. The instrument comprised 34 multiple-choice items aligned with science literacy indicators and was administered to 300 fourth-grade students from several schools in Jember, Indonesia. Expert judgment ensured content validity, while empirical analyses using QUEST and R Studio evaluated item performance. The results showed good model fit, excellent reliability (0.97), and well-balanced item difficulty levels, confirming the instrument’s ability to measure a wide range of student abilities. Person–item maps and item characteristic curves indicated high discriminative power and measurement precision. Embedding local wisdom elements enhanced cultural authenticity and student engagement in science learning. Overall, the instrument demonstrated strong psychometric and contextual validity, offering a reliable tool for assessing science literacy in primary education. Its application can help teachers identify learning needs and design culturally responsive instruction. Future studies should extend validation to broader cultural contexts and refine items for students with lower ability levels.
