Abstract

The research explores android-based learning media and applies the learning technique to counter this issue. This study investigates the poro English application in teanching English pronunciation in the classroom.It aims to identify student’s responses toward the application in learning English pronunciation in which students of ninth grade of SMP Negeri 35 Makassar. This study using a qualitative method to explore teaching and learning English pronunciation in the classroom using the poro english application. The data were collected in two main instruments: observation and interviews.The observation explored the process of applies the poro English application in teaching English pronunciation. While the interviews were administered to reveal the student’s response. The result showed that poro English application in teaching English pronunciation could be applied in the classroom. In particular, most students responded positively to using the application in the learning activities. For example,they said that application really helped them to learn and made it easier for them to practice pronunciation.

Abstract

Mahasiswa inbound Universitas Bosowa adalah mahasiswa yang berasal dari Perguruan Tinngi lain yang datang ke Universitas Bosowa untuk mengikuti perkuliahan selama 1 semester.  Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi informasi yang berkaitan dengan peminat mata kuliah Sociolinguistics oleh mahasiswa merdeka inbound di Universitas Bosowa.  Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang bersifat kualitatif.  Penelitian ini menampilkan jumlah peminat mata kuliah Sociolinguistics mahasiswa inbound angkatan pertama pada tahun 2021 dan angkatan kedua pada tahun 2022.  Metode penelitian dilakukan melalui wawancara kepada mahasiswa peserta mata kuliah Sociolinguistics pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2021 dan tahun 2022.  Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh peminat mata kuliah Sociolinguistics pada angkatan pertama tahun 2021 hanya 1 orang dari Universitas Samudera dan pada angkatan kedua tahun 2022 meningkat menjadi 6 orang yaitu 3 mahasiswa dari Universitas Negeri Medan, 1 mahasiswa dari Institut Pendidikan Bahasa Cirebon, 1 mahasiswa dari Institut Pendidikan dan Bahasa Invada Cirebon, dan 1 mahasiswa dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang.  Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa mahasiswa peminat mata kuliah Sociolinguistics pada angkatan kedua tahun 2022 meningkat secara signifikan. Bosowa University inbound students are students from other tertiary institutions who come to Bosowa University to attend lectures for 1 semester. The purpose of this research is to explore information related to interest in Sociolinguistics courses by inbound independent students at Bosowa University. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. This research shows the number of interested students in the Sociolinguistics course of the first batch of inbound students in 2021 and the second batch in 2022. The research method was carried out through interviews by students who participating in the Sociolinguistics course in the odd semesters of the 2021 and 2022 academic years. Based on the data obtained, there was only 1 student in the first batch of 2021 from Samudera University who interested in the Sociolinguistics course and in the second batch of 2022 it increased to 6 students, namely 3 students from Medan State University, 1 student from the Cirebon Language Education Institute, 1 student from the Invada Cirebon Language and Education Institute, and 1 student from the Muhammadiyah University of Semarang. Thus, it can be concluded that students interested in Sociolinguistics course in the second batch of 2022 have increased significantly.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine to enchance the students’ ability in writing narrative text through blended learning of class Xl-5 students of SMAN 4 Makassar in writing narrative texts using the blended learning method. This study used a pre-experimental method. The Subject of this study were students of class Xl-5 at SMAN 4 Makassars emester in the academic year 2022/2023, with a sample of 34 students. Data collection was narrative text through offline and online. The research data collected through the test showed that the student's writing ability after the research was conducted, students were more interested in using the blended learning method in writing narrative texts. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be seen that the student's results in the offline pre-test were 49.03. Then after getting treatment, the students' pre-test scores increased to 79.47 in the post-test. While the students' results in the online pre-test were 52.18, and after getting treatment, the students' pre-test scoreincreased to 89.15 in the post-test. It can be concluded that students' writing skills are improved in the online learning.So it can be concluded that using the blended learning method can improve students' learning ability in writing narrative texts at SMAN 4 Makassar.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the implementation of the English day program in students' speaking skill. This research method is, applied a qualitative research, data were collected from observations, interviews, and documentation. The sample of this research is the students of class XI SMAN 18 Makassar who follow the English Club. the writer uses interview guidelines. The results of this study indicated that the English day program can improve students' speaking skills. However, the implementation of English day at SMAN 18 Makassar has not been carried out well because: some students still use Indonesian during English day, and some students are not confident to speak English with friends around them. It is recommended that the person in charge of the English Club can implement the English day program in the school environment, and tighten the applicable rules, because English day is an important program for international schools. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran aplikasi pembelajaran pronundroid-IPA terhadap hasil belajar pengucapan dalam bahasa Inggris di kelas XI SMA Negeri 5 Makassar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan Pre-experimental dengan desain One Group Pre-test dan post-test. yaitu memberikan tes sebelum perawatan, kemudian memberikan tes setelah perawatan menggunakan pengucapan aplikasi pronundroid-IPA. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI 4 yang beranggotakan 5 siswa. Penelitian dilakukan dalam 29 kali pertemuan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik uji yang dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif. Data yang diperoleh juga dianalisis menggunakan program SPSS versi 3.22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran menggunakan aplikasi Pronundroid-IPA Pronundroid-IPA terhadap hasil belajar bahasa Inggris kelas XI siswa SMA Negeri 0 Makassar. Fakta ini dapat dilihat pada hasil analisis SPSS versi 5,4, nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa adalah 22,0. Dengan demikian, dapat dikatakan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara model pembelajaran yang menggunakan aplikasi pengucapan pronundroid-IPA pada hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the use of Jeopardy Game learning media on Reading Comprehension Skills of Narrative Text by Eighth Grade students of UPT SPF SMP Negeri 35 Makassar. This research focused on quantitative experimental research. The population of this research was students of class VIII UPT SPF SMP Negeri 35 Makassar, totaling 282 students. Random Sampling technique was used to one class as research sample, which consisted of 28 students. The data were obtained from written tests related to reading comprehension on narrative text. The results of this study used inferential analysis of the t-test by SPSS v.16 which showed a significant effect on the students’ mean score of Reading Comprehension skill between the pretest and post-test. The mean score of the students’ Reading Comprehension on Nrrative Text enhanced from 3.39 in the pretest to 6.46 in the posttest. The significance value calculated 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 (P-value = 0.000 < 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that Jeopardy Game learning media is effect applied to students’ Reading Comprehension skill on Narrative Text in class VIII at UPT SPF SMP Negeri 35 Makassar.

Abstract

The implementation of this training is in partnership with SMPN 2 Sesean students in the south Pangli district, Sesean district. This training aimed to introduce AI writing tools to the target partners so that their writing skills in English could develop. The team did their training because leaving the problem of secondary school students Sesean had not yet been interested in writing tools because junior high school students had not yet been required to master and apply their special writing skills in English. PKM activities are conducted with preparation, socialization, training and counseling, and evaluation. As for the results of a training program involving ten students: (1) Students can be able to use ai writing tools (Quilbot and Grammarly), (2) Students can draw on artificial intelligence writing technology in English writing tools, (3) Students can develop their writing ability by using ai writing tools until their writing skills can be more optimal and can be applied to further education.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine to improve students’ Literacy Reading skill Using E-Book System of twelveth grade students of SMA Bosowa School Makassar. This study used a pre-experimental method. The Subject of this study were students of twelveth grade SMA Bosowa School Makassar semester in the academic year 2023/2024, with a sample of 10 students. Data collection was reading text using E-Book System. The research data collected through the test showed that the student's reading ability after the research was conducted, students were more interested in using the E-Book System in reading English text. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be seen that the student's results in the pre-test were 64.00. Then after getting treatment, the students' pre-test scores increased to 85.55 in the post-test. It can be concluded that students' reading skills are improved on the students’. So it can be concluded that using the E-Book System  can improve students' learning ability in reading English texts at SMA Bosowa School Makassar

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out what barriers students’ experience in reading skill of second grade students’ of SMPN 35 Makassar. This research method was a descriptive quantitative with a likert scale design. This research conducted in two steps, namely observation and giving questionnaire. There were 15 statements with used percentage of data frequency to calculated the questionnaire. This research was conducted on second grade students of SMPN 35 Makassar. The samples of this research consisted of 20 students of class VIII-5 for the 2023/2024 academic year. Researcher analyzing data from questionnaires distributed to students. The result of the research can be seen that barriers experienced by students in reading skill consist of self-confidence, students' interest and environment.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out the factors that influence the English vocabulary mastery of the second grade of SMPN 35 Makassar. This research method is descriptive quantitative research method. This research was conducted on the second-grade students of SMPN 35 Makassar. The sample in this study were 20 students in class VIII-1 for the 2023/2024 academic year. The researcher analyzed data from questionnaires which distributed to students using quantitative descriptive analysis with the percentage of information frequency divided by the number of samples. The finding reveals that there were two factors that influence to students' vocabulary mastery namely, internal factors and external factors. The Internal factors is the most dominant factors influencing to students' vocabulary mastery. These internal factors consist of two, namely students' motivation to learn vocabulary and students' self-confidence in learning vocabulary. External factors are factors that influence students from outside in mastering vocabulary. These external factors consist of the family environment and the school environment.
