Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that has become a global health concern, with Indonesia being the country with the second-highest number of pulmonary TB cases after India. The level of knowledge and preventive behavior regarding TB significantly influences both the spread and the success of TB treatment. This study aims to evaluate the impact of health education based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) on TB prevention knowledge and behavior among patients. The study design utilized a quasi-experimental approach with control and intervention groups, where the intervention was administered through face-to-face education and followed by smart chat support sessions for one month. A total of 50 respondents participated, divided into treatment and control groups. Data analysis employed the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Mann-Whitney tests. The study results show that the statistical analysis indicated a significant improvement in knowledge and preventive behavior in the intervention group post-intervention (p=0.000), while the control group showed no significant change. The finding of this this improvement suggests that TPB-based interventions, which encompass attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, are effective in influencing health behavior changes. The conclusion is TPB-based health education through face-to-face sessions and smart chat follow-ups can be recommended as an intervention strategy to enhance TB prevention knowledge and behavior among high-risk populations.

Abstract

Choking is an emergency that often occurs in early childhood due to foreign objects or food that block the respiratory tract and can cause death if not treated immediately. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using video media on increasing the knowledge of student guardians about choking management. The study used a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design with 34 respondents selected by total sampling at Al-Hidayah Ringinanyar Kindergarten in April-May 2025. The instrument was a choking knowledge questionnaire consisting of 17 items that had been tested for validity (p = 0.005) and reliability (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.82). Data analysis included univariate and bivariate using Wilcoxon test. The results showed that before the intervention 61.8% of respondents had poor knowledge, after the intervention it increased to 88.2% with a good category. The Wilcoxon test resulted in a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which indicates a significant effect after health education with video media. Video media allows respondents to practice the material directly, making it easier to remember and repeat information. In conclusion, health education using video media is effective in increasing the knowledge of student guardians about choking management in early childhood.

Abstract

Abstract

Low adherence to TB medication can also lead to the development of drug resistance, making treatment more challenging. There is a need for a specific approach to TB patients to enhance motivation in anti-tuberculosis treatment, including the innovation of providing motivational interviewing (MI). This study aims to determine the impact of MI on the treatment adherence of tuberculosis patients as indicated by the BTA test. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a control group. The population consisted of 60 respondents using consecutive sampling techniques, divided into 30 experimental groups and 30 control groups. Descriptive analysis was used to depict the deviation in the percentage of gender, age, and education, while the difference test employed the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results indicated that both the experimental and control groups consisted mostly of males, with 16 (53.3%) and 17 (56.7%), respectively, and individuals over 41 years of age, with 23 (76.7%) and 21 (70%), respectively. Meanwhile, the difference test showed that the treatment group had a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant difference in treatment adherence before and after the intervention. Discussion: MI communication can increase clients' motivation to engage in positive behavior’s, such as adhering to treatment, which can lead to negative BTA test results. Conclusion: This intervention can be recommended as an additional approach to improving treatment adherence in tuberculosis patients.

Abstract

The incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (pulmonary TB) continues to increase every year, one of the contributing factors is the lack of public knowledge about pulmonary tuberculosis so that there are still many people who are not healthy. The purpose of this study was to describe family knowledge about preventing pulmonary tuberculosis transmission using TikTok media at the Sukorejo Health Center. This research uses a descriptive method. The population in this study were all families accompanying pulmonary tuberculosis patients who were still registered and actively seeking treatment at the Sukorejo Health Center from January to April 2023, totaling 20 people. A sample size of 20 accompanying families of pulmonary tuberculosis patients was taken using total sampling technique. Data collection used an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The results of the study were: family knowledge about preventing the transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis using TikTok media as much as 80 Percent in the good category, 20 Percent in the enough category. Not all families can understand the prevention of pulmonary tuberculosis transmission using TikTok media, so a holistic approach is needed. Various parties need to work together to increase family understanding about preventing the transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) occur in individuals of the productive age and its risk can be diminished if such individuals possess healthy behaviors. BMI is a calculation which is frequently administered to express individuals at risk of suffering from NCDs. Predicting the risk of an individual from suffering from non-communicable diseases is possible by employing CERDIK behavioral (knowledge, attitude, and actions) questionnaires, but it does not yet elaborate the role of body mass index (BMI). The objective of this study is to compare the body mass index and behavior with individuals’ risk factors suffering from non-communicable diseases. The study administered a cross-sectional design. The sample amounted to 200 individuals in the productive age who generally fast-food establishments in Blitar from April to June of 2022. Sample was selected by administering the simple random sampling method. The results demonstrated that merely few individuals experienced a high risk of contracting non-communicable diseases. Behavioral factors are no longer used to determine an individual's risk of developing non-communicable diseases when body mass index is taken into account as a contributing factor. Therefore, body mass index is not a risk factor. According to research, adopting healthy lifestyle habits can lower the risk of developing non-communicable diseases.

Abstract

Microorganisms do not cause non-communicable diseases (NCDs) but tend to change in modern lifestyles that do not apply CERDIK. In past research, the risk of suffering from non-communicable diseases was influenced by behavior, which consisted of three domains, namely knowledge, attitudes, and actions, without considering other individual factors. This study aims to assess the influence of individual health history factors, BMI, and behavior. The design used is cross-sectional. A sample of 302 people aged 15-59 are at risk of NCD and often visit fast food restaurants. Sampling using cluster random sampling. The variables collected are individual health history, BMI, and behavior. Data collection was carried out from April to June 2023. The analysis carried out was descriptive and structural equation modeling using PLS (Partial Least Square) software. The influence of the individual health history factor is 0.116, the BMI factor is 0.277, and the behavioral factor is -0.107. The resulting formula is . This formula can be used as a method to calculate the individual risk of suffering from NCDs.
