Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has had a significant impact on the world of education, including Arabic language learning. Arabic, which plays an important role in education and religion, is now increasingly in demand among young people who are familiar with digital technology. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods to explore various technologies that can improve the effectiveness of Arabic language learning for young people. The inclusion criteria in this study include academic literature published between 2015 and 2024 that discusses the application of digital technology in Arabic language learning, while studies that are not relevant to the context of language education or are not technology-based are excluded. The results show that the use of mobile applications such as Duolingo and Memrise, online learning platforms such as Coursera and EdX, and interactive technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) not only increase learning flexibility but also strengthen students' immersive and participatory experiences. In addition, the use of educational games, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and social media contributes to increased motivation and independence in learning. Critically, this study highlights that the success of technology implementation is greatly influenced by the readiness of digital infrastructure, teacher competence, and the learning culture in Indonesia, which still tends to be conventional. Thus, the integration of technology in Arabic language learning needs to be accompanied by teacher training, curriculum adaptation, and supporting policies in order to be implemented effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

This study describes the implementation of Arabic vocabulary instruction using a meaningful pedagogical approach at SD IT Alam Talago, Indonesia, emphasizing connections to real-life experiences and active student involvement. Using a qualitative descriptive case study method, the research involved one Arabic teacher and 28 fifth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected over one month via observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing), with validity ensured through triangulation and member checking. Findings indicate that lesson plans were designed based on student characteristics, contextual themes, and environmental learning resources. Instruction employed Total Physical Response (TPR), Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), and Inquiry-Based Learning, encouraging active engagement in vocabulary use, enabling most students to understand and use vocabulary in simple contexts. Evaluation was conducted continuously through pre-tests, formative assessments, and post-tests covering comprehension, usage, pronunciation, and engagement. Overall, Arabic vocabulary instruction using this approach demonstrates a more contextual and student-centered learning process, although outcomes still depend on individual student circumstances and characteristics.

Abstract

Instructional media are a key element in supporting the success of the learning process, particularly in enhancing students’ motivation to learn Arabic. However, the use of limited media, such as blackboards, tends to make students bored, passive, and unmotivated during lessons. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing strip story media on improving students’ motivation to learn Arabic at SMP N 1 Hiliran Gumanti, West Sumatra. The method used was an experiment with a quasi-experimental design involving two classes: Class VIII 1 as the control group and Class VIII 3 as the experimental group. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that the use of strip story media had a significant effect on students’ learning motivation, with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), thus accepting Ha and rejecting H0. Additionally, there was an increase in the average student learning motivation from 24.48 (45%) in the “moderate” category to 39.85 (75%) in the “high” category. Thus, the strip story medium proved effective in enhancing students’ motivation to learn Arabic.

Abstract

This study examines code-mixing phenomena in the oral Arabic communication of students at An-Nur Tangkit Islamic boarding school in Indonesia. Given the relatively recent introduction of Arabic as a foreign language, students often incorporate Indonesian elements into their speech. Through qualitative field research involving observation and interviews, this study investigates the specific forms of code-mixing employed by students and teachers. The analysis reveals three primary language elements in code-mixing: individual words, phrases, and clauses. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the linguistic practices and challenges faced by learners of Arabic in Indonesian educational settings.
