Abstract

The village of Tulorantea is one of the villages where the community is engaged in tilapia fish farming. The tilapia fingerlings used are generally imported from other regions at a relatively high cost ( Rp. 1000/individual with a size of 3-5 cm), and they are often ordered in large quantities. This situation poses a threat to the sustainability of small-scale tilapia farming. In addition, the profits obtained by fish farmers at the end of the cultivation period are relatively low. One of the efforts to address this issue is the use of self-produced fingerlings. This can be achieved successfully if the breeding process of tilapia is well understood by the farmers. Therefore, the purpose of this community service is to provide farmers with an understanding of the proper methods for tilapia breeding to produce self-produced fingerlings and strategies for marketing quality fishery products. This activity is conducted in the form of counseling, with participants from the village government and fish farmers. Two weeks after the counseling, 100 potential breeders (25 males and 75 females) and net cages for acclimatizing the potential breeders are handed over to the fish farmers. The results of the activity show that the fish farmers are very enthusiastic about participating in the program and becoming involved in tilapia breeding to produce self-produced fingerlings to support their farming activities. In conclusion, problem-based counseling activities aimed at addressing the challenges faced by fish farmers have increased the enthusiasm of fish farmers in their efforts to achieve optimal production.

Abstract

Biofloc technology requires an additional carbon source (molasses) to balance the C/N ratio to support the bacteria's performance. The application of molasses should be done with sufficient time and concentration to guarantee the excellent condition of the floc. This study aims to determine the appropriate frequency of molasses application for the growth of siamese catfish (P. hypophthalmus) using Biofloc System Technology. The study used a completely randomized design of flour treatments and five replications. The frequency of molasses application was aimed to find the optimum results of applying it once a day (A), every two days (B), every three days (C), and every four days (D), each in the corresponding experimental units. The experiment was carried out in 35 days. The feed given was 5% of body weight, with a feeding frequency of twice daily. The results showed no difference in growth (weight) and feed efficiency for all treatments. However, it was found that the amount and nutrient content of the formed floc were more stable when molasses was given at a frequency every two days (treatment B) until the sixth week compared to other treatments. In conclusion, the frequency of giving molasses for flock growth twice a day can be applied for siamese catfish using the Biofloc system.

Abstract

Selama ini, ketersediaan ikan gabus (Channa striata) dipasaran masih mengandalkan hasil tangkapan di alam. Selain faktor teknis budidaya, kandungan albumin ikan gabus hasil tangkapan di alam lebih tinggi dari hasil budidaya. Budidaya ikan gabus secara terkontrol dengan pemberian pakan alami sesuai dengan lingkungan alaminya merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi kadar albumin yang rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis pakan alami (pakan segar) yang memberikan pertumbuhan dan kadar albumin tertinggi pada ikan gabus (C. striata) yang dibudidayakan secara terkontrol. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan mengujikan tiga jenis pakan segar (ikan nilem, cacing tanah, dan berudu), dan masing-masing diberi tiga kali ulangan. Benih ikan gabus (berukuran 8,54±1,85 g) dipelihara dalam baskom (diameter 48 cm dan tinggi 22 cm) yang telah diisi dengan air tawar sebanyak 6 L dengan kepadatan 3 ekor per wadah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian jenis pakan segar tidak memberikan pengaruh (p>0,05) terhadap laju pertumbuhan spesifik harian, pertumbuhan bobot mutlak dan kelangsungan hidup benih ikan gabus dengan lama pemeliharaan 21 hari. Persentase kadar albumin lebih tinggi diperoleh pada benih ikan gabus yang diberi pakan segar jenis berudu (4,2%) dibandingkan cacing tanah (3,10%) dan ikan nilem (3,03%). Pakan segar jenis berudu dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kadar albumin dalam pemeliharaan benih ikan gabus secara terkontrol.

Abstract

One of the efforts to reduce production costs in raising vaname shrimp is to use low protein feed with the addition of supplements to improve feed quality. Siamese catfish processing by-products in the form of silage have advantages such as a distinctive aroma and high nutrient absorption. The purpose of the study was to determine the addition of silage by-products of Siamese catfish processing to feed on the growth and survival of vaname shrimp. The treatments tested included the addition of Siamese catfish by-product silage to 25% protein feed at a dose of 10% (A), 20% (B), 30% (C), 40% (D) per kg of feed. The test shrimp (weight 2.30 ± 0.19 g) was given 5% of body weight with a frequency of 5 times a day. Maintenance was carried out for 7 weeks in an aquarium measuring 30×25×25 cm3 containing 12 L of water. The results showed that the highest growth was obtained in the addition of catfish by-product silage at a dose of 40% (2.81 g) and the lowest at a dose of 10% (2.00 g) (p<0.05). The lowest feed conversion ratio was in the 30% dose treatment (2.93) compared to the 10% dose (4.09). The survival rate obtained for all treatments ranged from 86.7-93.3%. The use of silage in feed to obtain growth and survival and low feed conversion ratio in vaname shrimp can be done by adding silage at a dose of 30% / kg of feed.

Abstract

Plankton are important organisms in aquatic ecosystems including marine ecosystems because of their large contribution to primary productivity and consumer abundance. The role of plankton as an important component in maintaining the balance of aquatic ecosystems and providing fishery resources that benefit the surrounding community is the basis for research on the condition of plankton in the waters of Gosong Tiaka. This study aims to assess the species composition and ecological index of plankton in the location. The research location was divided into 5 stations, namely the western part of Gosong Tiaka, northwest of Gosong Tiaka, southwest of Gosong Tiaka and northeast of Gosong Tiaka. The results showed that there were 6 phytoplankton classes and 8 zooplankton classes in the waters of Gosong Tiaka. The highest number of species for phytoplankton and zooplankton groups were found in the Bacillariophyceae class (9 species) and Copepoda class (3 species), respectively. While the highest abundance of phytoplankton and zooplankton was obtained in Chaetocerus sp. (Bacillariophyceae class) and Temora sp. (Copepoda class), respectively. This indicates that plankton from the Bacillariophyceae and copepod classes play a very important role in the study site. Based on the ecological index assessment, plankton diversity is in the medium assessment range, which means that the condition of the aquatic environment in the water location is in the medium assessment range (not under heavy environmental pressure). The plankton community in these waters is in a stable condition, indicated by the absence of dominating species.

Abstract

The enactment of PERMENTAN Number 10 of 2022 (Ministerial Regulation of Agriculture), which serves as a reference, indicates that pond farmers do not have the right to receive subsidized fertilizers. Additionally, the scarcity and rising prices of non-subsidized fertilizers in the market have led to a decrease in the productivity of fish and shrimp ponds, particularly those managed using conventional systems. This situation has also resulted in a decline in the income of the community as business actors. The objective of this community service activity is to provide guidance on cultivating Gracilaria sp. seaweed as one of the potential commodities that can be developed to maximize pond productivity. The socialization materials about seaweed Gracilaria sp. and its cultivation include preparation stages, seed spreading, monitoring, fertilization, harvesting, drying, storage in warehouses, and seaweed packaging. The results of this activity show the participants' enthusiasm to experiment with seaweed cultivation in one of the participants' ponds. Once it grows well, other farmers will begin to cultivate it. Farmers have understood about Gracilaria sp. seaweed and its cultivation, and they desire the realization and support of seaweed cultivation.

Abstract

Osmoregulation in fish is a process that involves regulating the balance of water and electrolytes in their bodies, especially changes in salinity in the water environment where they live. This study aims to determine the osmoregulatory ability of orbiculate cardinalfish (Sphaeramia orbicularis) to changes in salinity. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments, namely control (no treatment), 150 mL fresh water/L sea water, 100 mL fresh water/L sea water, and 50 mL fresh water/L sea water and respectively three repetitions each. orbiculate cardinalfish with a length ranging from 5.2 ± 0.46 cm and a weight of 2.3 ± 0.25 g were kept in each rearing container and given treatment based on each treatment. The parameters observed in this study were the fish's osmoregulatory ability by looking at fish behavior, external organs (fish skin and gills), and examination of internal organs (kidneys), and survival rate. The results showed that the control treatment at the end of the study had abnormal kidney and gill conditions. Meanwhile, the dilution treatment of 150 mL fresh water/L sea water, 100 mL fresh water/L sea water, and 50 mL fresh water/L sea water showed normal conditions or symptoms in the kidneys and gills, but the fish skin organs showed pale or faded in all treatments. Based on these results it can be concluded that the best treatment is 150 mL fresh water/L sea water treatment.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems provide a variety of ecosystem services, making mangroves an important/vital ecosystem in coastal areas. Mangrove ecosystems provide abundant fishery resources, supporting food security and improving the economy of the community. This study aims to examine the structure of mangrove communities in the waters of Lapangan Senoro, which is a Mining Concession Area (MCA) operated by JOB Pertamina-Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi (JOB Tomori). Mangrove data collection was conducted using 10 m x 10 m transects at two stations representing natural mangrove communities and rehabilitated mangroves. The results of the study indicate that there are 10 mangrove species at the study site, dominated by Rhizopora apiculata. The diversity of mangroves at the study site, both those representing natural mangrove communities and those resulting from rehabilitation, falls into the “moderate” category, meaning that the mangrove communities have a fairly balanced level of complexity. Based on the INP value, the R. apiculata species plays the most important role in the ecosystem. The density of mangroves at Senoro Field is categorized as good/very dense.

Abstract

Keberhasilan suatu kegiatan budidaya terutama pada skala intensif salah satunya ditentukan oleh pakan buatan. Karenanya, pakan buatan menghabiskan porsi terbesar biaya operasional dalam suatu kegiatan budidaya. Penelitian tentang penggunaan bahan pakan alternatif banyak dilakukan untuk menekan besarnya biaya pakan ikan. Salah satunya adalah pemanfaatan limbah kulit pisang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat untuk melihat pertumbuhan dan respon fisiologis ikan nila yabf diberi pakan mengandung tepung kulit pisang yang difermentasi Saccharomycess cerevisiae sehingga mendapatkan informasi yang lebih dalam mengenai potensi tepung kulit pisang terfermentasi untuk dijadikan bahan baku pakan menggantikan bahan baku pakan import yang memiliki harga tinggi seperti tepung ikan dan kedelai. Kulit pisang yang digunakan adalah jenis pisang kepok matang yang dihaluskan dan difermentasi denga ragi roti S. cerevisiae sebanyak 2%. Dosis yang digunakan adalah 0%, 10%, 15% dan 20%. Parameter yang diujikan adalah pertumbuhan bobot mutlak, TKO, gula darah dan IHS. pertumbuhan bobot mutlak, TKO, gula darah dan IHS terbaik terlihat pada perlakuan 15% kemudian diususl oleh perlakuan 20%, 10% dan terakhir adalah kontrol 0%. Dari hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa tepung kulit pisang terfermentasi dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan baku pakan untuk mengurangi penggunaan bahan baku pakan import seperti tepung ikan dan tepung kedelai.

Abstract

Probiotik, sebagai mikroorganisme hidup yang memberikan manfaat kesehatan bagi inangnya ketika diberikan dalam jumlah yang sesuai, memiliki potensi besar untuk meningkatkan kualitas pakan dan kesehatan udang, serta memperbaiki kualitas lingkungan perairan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh konsentrasi probiotik (Lactobacillus sp.). dalam pakan komersil terhadap pertumbuhan udang kaki putih (Penaeus vannamei). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama 40 hari pada bulan Oktober-November 2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode rancagan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan yaitu penambahan probiotik Lactobacillus sp. dengan konsentrasi berbeda dan 4 ulangan sehingga terdapat 20 unit percobaan. Data laju pertumbuhan spesifik, rasio konversi pakan, dan kelangsungan hidup dianalisi ragam (ANOVA) pada tingkat kepercayaan 95% dan diuji lanjut Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Data diolah menggunakan program software Microsoft Excel 2010 dan Minitab 16. Hasil analisis ragam (ANOVA) dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95% menunjukkan bahwa penambahan probiotik bakteri Lactobacillus sp. dengan konsentrasi berbeda dalam pakan komersil terfermentasi berpengaruh nyata terhadap laju pertumbuhan spesifik udang kaki putih. Penggunaan probiotik Lactobacillus sp. pada pakan dengan konsentrasi 16% menghasilkan laju pertumbuhan spesifik tertinggi sebesar 6,02±0,36%, rasio konversi pakan terendah sebesar 1,73±0,18 dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup sebesar 75%.
