Abstract

The Society 5.0 era demands educational innovation that integrates technology, collaboration, and complex problem solving into the learning process. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing a project-based collaborative learning model on improving student learning outcomes and 21st-century skills in geography. The research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach in two cycles, which included planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 67 grade XI phase F students at SMAN 1 Siak, Siak Regency, Riau Province, in the 2023–2024 academic year, who were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significant increase in their understanding of geography concepts with an increase of 41.74%, p < 0.05, while the control group only increased by 4.49%, p > 0.05. In addition, 88.6% of students in the experimental group achieved the “very good” category in 21st-century skills, particularly in collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity. Thus, the project-based collaborative learning model has been proven effective in transforming geography learning and is recommended as an innovative strategy to address educational challenges in the Society 5.0 era

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed educational practices, particularly through the integration of gamified learning platforms such as Quizizz. This study aimed to explore students satisfaction with the use of Quizizz in Geography learning and to identify which aspects most influence their learning experience. Employing a descriptive quantitative design, data were collected from 35 tenth grade students through a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring four key indicators: interactivity, ease of use, learning motivation, and material comprehension. Data were analyzed using mean scores and frequency distribution to determine overall satisfaction levels. The results revealed that students satisfaction with Quizizz based gamification was categorized as neutral (mean=3.01). Among the four aspects, material comprehension obtained the highest score (mean=3.13), suggesting that real-time feedback effectively supported students conceptual understanding. In contrast, learning motivation recorded the lowest score (mean=2.90), indicating possible fatigue from repetitive quiz formats and competitive features. Technical barriers, such as unstable internet connections, also affected students engagement and comfort. These findings suggest that while Quizizz provides valuable interactive learning experiences, its effectiveness depends on pedagogical variation and contextual adaptation. Teachers are encouraged to integrate gamified tools strategically to sustain motivation and enhance overall student satisfaction in Geography education

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Wordwall, an interactive digital learning medium, on student engagement and learning outcomes in junior high school social studies. Employing a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design, the research involved 58 seventh-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received instruction using Wordwall, while the control group followed conventional teacher-centered learning. Data were collected using observation sheets to measure learning activities and achievement tests to assess cognitive outcomes. Descriptive analysis indicated a consistent increase in student engagement in the experimental class across three meetings, with average activity scores rising from 89.52% to 92.56%. Inferential analysis using the Mann–Whitney U test revealed a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes between groups (p < 0.001). The findings suggest that Wordwall effectively promotes active participation and enhances academic achievement, supporting multimedia learning and constructivist perspectives in digital classroom environments.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the welfare level of rubber farmers in Nagari Sungai Batuang and to analyze the economic, social, and environmental factors influencing their welfare. Employing a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, the research began with a quantitative survey of 33 rubber farmers, followed by in-depth qualitative interviews with six purposively selected informants based on variations in welfare level, land ownership, access to aid, and social participation. The findings indicate that the farmers’ welfare levels range from low to moderate, with a distribution of 24.2% categorized as pre-prosperous, 39.4% as prosperous I, 27.3% as prosperous II, and 9.1% as prosperous III. The primary income source for farmers is rubber latex sales, contributing an average of 72% of total income, while the remainder derives from side activities such as livestock farming, trading, and freelance work. Multiple linear regression analysis reveals that economic factors have the most significant influence on welfare (β = 0.489; p < 0.001), followed by environmental factors (β = 0.351; p = 0.004) and social factors (β = 0.274; p = 0.038). Qualitative findings highlight key barriers including dependence on fluctuating rubber prices, limited infrastructure, and low institutional participation. Furthermore, farmers’ perceptions of welfare are also shaped by non-material dimensions such as a sense of security, social relationships, and life meaning. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for integrated interventions involving economic capacity building, agricultural infrastructure improvement, institutional strengthening, and social support to enhance welfare in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the socio-economic conditions of horticultural farmer group members in Nagari Bungo Tanjuang and to identify the factors influencing their income. Horticultural farming is a strategic sector in the rural economy, requiring the optimization of both human and physical resources. A quantitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 35 farmer group members and analyzed descriptively and comparatively to reveal respondent profiles and inter-variable relationships. The results show that most farmers are in their productive age and have over 11 years of farming experience, although their educational backgrounds vary. Data analysis indicates a positive correlation between farmers’ income and factors such as land size, farming experience, and frequency of participation in training programs. Additionally, collective ownership of production assets by the farmer group serves as an essential form of physical capital supporting agricultural activities. The study concludes that farmers’ income is influenced by a combination of human capital namely experience and skill enhancement and physical capital, including land and production facilities. The findings underscore the importance of strengthening farmer group institutions as a key strategy for sustainably enhancing farmers' capacity and well-being.
