Abstract

The development of child motor skills is closely related to nutritional status. Stunted children generally experience delays in motor development. The objective was to determine the relationship between stunting, socioeconomic status, and children’s motor skill development. This research was conducted in 2018 using a cross-sectional method. Respondents were 80 children aged 48-60 months in urban and rural areas of West Java. The researcher used a simple random technique data collection on anthropometric, socioeconomic, and motor skills development. Then it was analyzed using chi-square and Fisher exact methods. The researcher used a simple random technique data collection on anthropometric, socioeconomic, and motor skills development. Then it was analyzed using chi-square and Fisher exact methods. We found that stunting prevalence in rural areas was higher than in urban areas. As much as 30 % of children in rural areas and only 12.5 % of children in urban areas were categorized as stunted. There is no significant association between stunting with the family’s socioeconomic status and motor skill development. The weight for the age variable showed a significant association with stunting. Children who are malnourished have a stunting risk of 10.9 times greater than normal children (OR 10.9 p < 0.001).

Abstract

In Indonesia, physical literacy has not developed as rapidly as in developed countries. There are only a few of studies examining physical literacy in Indonesia. This study was aimed to scientifically reveal the focus of physical literacy studies in Indonesia by using an article review approach. The search for articles was limited to the latest 10-year publications and articles published in accredited National/International Journals and National/International Seminars provided with ISBN. A total of 7 articles were selected for further analysis using synthesis techniques. The results of the study revealed that there were only six studies on Physical Literacy in Indonesia published in National Journals and National/International Seminars. The focus of the study on physical literacy research in Indonesia included the lead to the measurement of physical literacy and the development of physical literacy instruments in elementary schools (three studies), using learning approach to improve physical literacy (two studies), and the concept of physical literacy in Physical Education (one study). This study is limited to an article review. For further research, it is hoped that new research focusing on physical literacy studies, using a research method approach adapted to the research objectives, will emerge to develop concepts, measurements, and implementations of physical literacy programs in Indonesia.

Abstract

Technological advances are increasingly sophisticated to make lifestyle patterns easy and sedentary, especially for elementary school-age children. Just spend their daily time like watching television, playing computer and also playing video games. So reluctant to move and result in lazy to move as well as lack of activity. And cause obesity or overweight. However, not all of them show the prevalence of obesity. Therefore, the researcher aims to determine between sedentary behavior and body mass index in elementary school children. The survey method was carried out by distributing digital questionnaires to students with a total sample of 96 people and the help of Google Forms. The instrument used was the Adolescent Sedentary Activity Questionnaire (ASAQ). Descriptive analysis of the correlation between the two variables. The results show that sedentary behavior is 96.9%, body mass index is 38.5%, and there is no relationship between sedentary behavior and body mass index in elementary school students. In the future, it is hoped that there will be further research with a better research design on sedentary behavior, body mass index, and its influence.

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research was to examine the effectiveness of the Tactical Games learning model combined with the Teaching by Invitation technique in boosting both learning motivation and physical activity among elementary school students. This quasi-experimental study included three groups: the first group utilized the Tactical Games model integrated with the Teaching by Invitation technique, the second group applied solely the Tactical Games learning model, and the third group, serving as the control, followed the conventional learning model. Participants were fifth-grade students from three different schools in Tasikmalaya, Indonesia. To measure outcomes, three research instruments were employed: the Electronic Rubric for Motivation in Physical Education (eRMoPE) to assess learning motivation, the Polar GPS RC3, and the Polar Heart Rate Sensor H3 to evaluate the category of students' physical activity. Findings indicated that while all three approaches effectively enhanced learning motivation and physical activity, the combination of the Tactical Games model with the Teaching by Invitation technique yielded superior improvements. This integrative method grants students the autonomy to select skills they wish to learn and master, aligning with their abilities and understanding of game tactics adapted to specific game situations and environments. This freedom fosters a more engaging and personalized learning experience, ultimately enhancing both motivation and physical activity levels among students. The study highlights the potential benefits of blending tactical learning strategies with motivational techniques, suggesting a valuable approach for educators aiming to improve physical education outcomes in elementary schools
