Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of science games on the classification and critical thinking abilities of early childhood. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The research subjects included 15 children in group B at one of the schools in Pujut subdistrict, Central Lombok Regency. Data were collected through observation using observation sheets as research instruments, while data analysis was performed using Paired Sample t-test and Repeated Measures Repeated Measures MANOVA   tests. The results showed that science games can improve children's classification and critical thinking skills. This was evident from the increase in the average scores between the pre-test and post-test results. Based on the Paired Sample t-test and Repeated Measures MANOVA   tests, the significance values obtained were 0.000 for classification skills, 0.001 for critical thinking skills, and 0.000 for both simultaneously. All significance values were < 0.05, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that science games have a significant effect on improving the classification and critical thinking in young children.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is one of the important aspects in early childhood language development that plays a role in children's communication skills and learning readiness. However, in learning practices, children are still found to have limited vocabulary due to the use of less varied and less interesting learning methods. Therefore, learning innovation is needed through the use of educational game-based digital media that can increase children's involvement in learning. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the use of educational game media on vocabulary mastery of group B children at Nurul Iman Sekarbela Islamic Kindergarten. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method in the form of a Quasi Experiment, with a one group pretest  -posttest  design. Data collection techniques use observation and documentation using a validated observation sheet instrument, then the data analysis technique uses a normality test and hypothesis testing using a paired sample T-test with the help of SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) version 21. The population in this study were 164 early childhood children in group B at Nurul Iman Sekarbela Islamic Kindergarten. The sample in this study was 15 children in group B in group B1. The researcher used a sampling approach called purposive sampling (one group). Based on the results of the study, before the treatment, the average pretest   score was 77.93. After the treatment, the average posttest  score increased to 103.07. The hypothesis test shows that the significant value (2-tailed) is 0.001 with a sample size of 15 children at a 5% level. Based on the results of the 2-tailed sig. value obtained, namely 0.001, it can be said that 0.001 <0.05. Therefore, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is an influence of the use of educational games on the vocabulary mastery of group B children at Nurul Iman Sekarbela Islamic Kindergarten. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of educational game media on the vocabulary mastery of group B children at Nurul Iman Sekarbela Islamic Kindergarten.

Abstract

Early childhood is a golden age that plays a crucial role in determining the development of children’s basic abilities, particularly language skills, which are essential for communication and social interaction. This study aimed to examine the effect of e-flipbook media accompanied by parental involvement on the language development of Group B children at TK Islam Darul Yaqin, Kediri District. This study employed a quantitative approach with an experimental research method using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The population of this study consisted of all children enrolled at TK Islam Darul Yaqin, totaling 37 children. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, in which all 18 children in Group B were selected as the research sample. Data were collected through observation and documentation. Data analysis was conducted by first performing a normality test as a prerequisite for analysis, followed by hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test with the assistance of IBM SPSS version 31 for Windows. The results showed that the average language development score before treatment (pretest) was 45.89, which fell into the category of Beginning to Develop (BD). After the implementation of the e-flipbook media accompanied by parental involvement, the posttest results indicated an increase in the average language development score to 93.89, which was categorized as Very Well Developed (VWD). The hypothesis testing results showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.01, which was lower than 0.05; therefore, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of e-flipbook media accompanied by parental involvement has a significant effect on the language development of Group B children at TK Islam Darul Yaqin, Kediri District.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the listening skills of Group B children at TK PGRI 07 Aikmel through the implementation of the two-way storytelling technique. The study was motivated by the low listening skills demonstrated by the children, as reflected in their limited attention during storytelling activities, difficulties in answering questions related to the story, and inadequate ability to comprehend and retell information in a sequential manner. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of two cycles involving planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were Group B children of TK PGRI 07 Aikmel. Data were collected through observation and documentation using an assessment instrument covering attention focusing, story comprehension, question answering, relevant responses, and following sequential instructions. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques, with a classical success criterion of at least 85%. The findings revealed a continuous improvement in children’s listening skills across the cycles. The percentage increased from 64.48% in the pre-cycle to 75.71% in Cycle I and reached 86.06% in Cycle II, exceeding the predetermined success criterion. These findings indicate that the implementation of the two-way storytelling technique is effective in improving the listening skills of early childhood learners. Furthermore, the study highlights the pedagogical value of interactive storytelling in promoting active participation, language development, and meaningful learning experiences among young children.
