Abstract

Increasingly developing technology encourages educators to use it in the learning process as a learning medium in order to increase student’s interest in learning. However, currently there are still many who do not optimally use technology-based learning media. The learning media used is monotonous and unable to visualize the material on the excretion system and coordination system in humans. This has an impact on student learning outcomes which are still below the school's Minimum Completion Criteria. Therefore, technology-based learning media such as e-modules in the form of flipbooks are needed. This research aims to produce an Android-based e-module in the form of a flipbook on excretion system and coordination system material that is valid, practical and effective. The type of research used is development research using the Plomp development model which consists of three stages, namely the initial investigation stage, the development stage (prototyping), and the assessment stage. The instruments used were teacher interview guide instrument sheets, student questionnaire sheets, self-evaluation sheets, and e-module validation sheets by experts, as well as e-module practicality assessment sheets in the form of flipbooks filled in by teachers and students. The subjects of this research were class XI high school students. The research object is an Android based e-module in the form of a flipbook on excretion system and coordination system material. The research results show that the Android based e-module in the form of a flipbook obtained very valid criteria validity results with a value of 86.76% and 89.06%, practicality results by teachers and students with very practical criteria with a value of 84.17% and 86.43%. Based on the T test carried out, there is a difference in value between the experimental class and the control class, namely a significance of 0.048 in the excretion system material and 0.003 in the coordination system material. Thus, Android-based e-modules in the form of flipbooks can improve students learning competence.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of science literacy among students in Indonesia, including at SMP Negeri 17 Kota Jambi. The study aims to determine the effect of the STEM-based PBL model on the science literacy of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 17 Kota Jambi. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a pre-test post-test control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class (VII C) with 32 students who received the STEM-based PBL model treatment, and the control class (VII E) with 31 students who used the direct instruction model.  The research results science literacy skills improved, with an average pre-test score of 58.5 and a post-test score of 79.75, while the control class increased from 38.32 to 60.38. The N-Gain value for science literacy in the experimental class was 50.83 (moderate category), which was higher than the control class's 38.32. The t-test results show a significance value of 0.037 < 0.05, which means there is a significant difference between the two groups. It can be concluded that the implementation of the STEM-based PBL model is effective in improving students' science literacy skills in science learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mensintesis pengaruh model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBL) terhadap pemahaman konseptual siswa dalam biologi melalui tinjauan pustaka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Tinjauan Pustaka Sistematis (SLR) dengan menganalisis enam artikel ilmiah terakreditasi yang diperoleh dari basis data Google Scholar yang mencakup tahun 2023–2025. Hasil tinjauan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL secara konsisten memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual siswa dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan peningkatan rata-rata hasil belajar, kemampuan memahami konsep biologi, serta hasil uji statistik dengan tingkat signifikansi < 0,05 pada sebagian besar penelitian yang dianalisis. Peningkatan ini terjadi karena model PBL menyajikan masalah kontekstual yang mendorong siswa untuk berpikir aktif, menghubungkan konsep dengan situasi kehidupan nyata, dan membangun pengetahuan baik secara mandiri maupun kolaboratif. Lebih lanjut, implementasi PBL juga meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam proses pembelajaran, sehingga membuat pemahaman konseptual lebih dalam dan bermakna. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah merupakan strategi pengajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual siswa dalam pendidikan biologi.
