Abstract

Background: One of the management of hypertension is with herbal medicine, such as cucumber juice, because cucumber contains a lot of potassium and water, a diuretic that can lower blood pressure. Aim: This study aimed to determine the effect of cucumber juice on blood pressure in patients with stage 1 hypertension. Method: The research design used was (a quasi-experimental design) with the design using the Non-Equivalent Control Group. A total of 28 people whose blood pressure was measured consisted of 14 people in the intervention group giving cucumber juice and 14 in the control group without giving cucumber juice. Results: The study’s mean systolic blood pressure in the control and intervention groups ranged above 130 mmHg and 80 mmHg for diastolic. After the intervention procedure, the mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the intervention group decreased to 120.71 mmHg (systolic) and 76.43 mmHg (diastolic). In contrast, the control group’s systolic and diastolic blood pressure was relatively stable. The Independent t-test result showed a significant p-value (< 0.05). Meanwhile, in the control group, a p-value of (> 0.05) was obtained, meaning there was no change in blood pressure in the control group. Conclusion: This study showed that cucumber juice affects blood pressure. Based on the study’s result, nurses need to maximize hypertension control by giving education to constantly consume anti-hypertensive drugs along with herbal medicine such as cucumber juice.

Abstract

Aims: To determine the effect of self-management applications on academic procrastination in nursing students at STIKep PPNI West Java. Methods: This study used a quantitative quasi-experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The number of respondents was 60 with sampling using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique consisting of 30 intervention groups and 30 control groups, with inclusion criteria for undergraduate nursing students. The instrument used was the Tuckman Procrastination Scale. Univariate analysis used mean, SD, min, max and bivariate analysis using paired sample t test and independent sample t test. Results: Based on the results of the paired sample t-test, the p-value is 0.000 (p <0.05) and the independent sample t-test has a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05), which means that there is a significant differences in value between the intervention groups and the control group so that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Conclusions: The study found a significant reduction in academic procrastination in the intervention group compared to the control group, due to structured self-management. The intervention group experienced better behavioral changes, while the control group experienced a decrease. The study also found significant differences in self-management implementation through four stages: self-monitoring, self-contracting, stimulus control, and self-reinforcement.

Abstract

Aims : Effective communication is the main elements of patient safety goals because communication is the first cause of patient safety problems. Effective communication must be built on aspects of clarity, accuracy, in accordance with the context of language and information, systematic flow, and culture. This study looks at whether there is an effect of SISBAR communication than SBAR on effective communication between nurses and doctors during consultations or handovers Design : Observational study to 20 nurses as Nurse incharge at Ruby Barat and Timur in SHBC (Santosa Hospital Bandung Central), with Observational Chart of SISBAR in 1 month observation. Methods : This research method uses a quasi-experimental pre and post by using an observational study.  The statistical analysis test using the Wilcoxon non-parametric test. Results : The results of the statistical analysis test using the Wilcoxon non-parametric test obtained p-Value: 0.002 (< 0.05), meaning that there was an significant effect of SISBAR communication on effective communication than SBAR between nurses and doctors in SHBC Bandung. Conclusions : The results of this study indicate that SISBAR communication is more effective to be applied than SBAR. In SBAR even though there is an element of the introduction, but because it is not mentioned in the abbreviation, nurses often forget about the introduction (aspects of introducing themselves and who is speaking). Therefore, SISBAR can be an alternative in handover communication between nurses and doctors in hospitals. SISBAR communication with the development of SBAR, ISBAR to SISBAR can be developed in others hospitals and in Indonesia generally
