Abstract

Stripping overburden using the blasting method is more economical than using equipment. One of the impacts caused by blasting activities is flyrock. Flyrock influences how far people and units have to be evacuated during blasting activities, so by controlling flyrock the evacuation distance can be reduced based on existing studies, in accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 1827.K/30/MEM/2018. By using the Richard and Moore equation, the distance of the flyrock throw can be predicted by approaching constant values adjusted to the actual conditions at Pit Inul Middle. The research results show that there are several factors that influence the occurrence of flyrock, namely burden with a coefficient of determination value of 0.5183 and stemming height with a coefficient of determination value of 0.4142. Both of these factors have a moderate (medium or sufficient) correlation with flyrock. The actual average distance of flyrock that occurred during data collection was 11.58 meters and the furthest was 39.74 meters. By knowing the prediction of the maximum flyrock throw and considering the safety factor of the equipment, standard values for the stemming and burden height variables can be set, namely a minimum of 2 meters.

Abstract

The utilization of coal as a fossil fuel causes several ecological problems, as for the consequences of the coal combustion process, namely pollution and emissions. Combustion of high sulfur coal produces sulfur dioxide gas (SO2). This sulfur dioxide (SO2) will become H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) which can directly or indirectly disrupt human life, such as causing acid rain, causing tightness in the respiratory tract and causing corrosion and shortening the life of factory equipment. To reduce SO2 gas, a reduction in sulfur content is carried out before combustion which is called desulfurization. This research was conducted using the leaching method with variations in leaching agent and solution concentration. Leaching agents used in this study are NaOH and HCl. The coal to be desulfurized is coal from PT Anugerah Krida Utama with an initial total sulfur content of 4,05% adb. 10 grams of coal with a size of 0,212 mm was leached with 250 ml of chemical solution using a hot plate stirrer at 80˚C and 250 rpm for 1 hour. The results showed that the optimum condition for leaching agent NaOH occurred at a concentration of 8 M showing the initial total sulfur content of 4,05% adb decreased to 1,69% adb with a maximum percentage decrease of 58,27% and at leaching agent HCl the optimum condition occurred at a concentration of 1 M showing the initial total sulfur content of 4,05% adb decreased to 2,91% adb with a maximum percentage decrease of 28,14%.

Abstract

Soil is an important component in the natural environment which has an important role in supporting human life and the ecosystem as a whole. One key aspect of soil properties is its erodibility, which determines how susceptible the soil is to erosion. This research aims to assess the level of soil erodibility in the disposal area, which is the location where overburden is deposited in coal mines. Soil erodibility is influenced by a number of factors, including texture, structure, organic matter content, and soil permeability. Laboratory analysis methods are used to measure soil erodibility from samples taken from the disposal area. The results of this research provide a deeper understanding of the potential for erosion in disposal areas and provide a basis for the development of effective erosion control strategies to minimize environmental and mine operational impacts. These findings are important for the coal mining industry in managing the environment sustainably and ensuring the continuity of their operations.
