Abstract

The digital era has brought both new opportunities and challenges for da'wah activities. The rapid development of information technology facilitates the dissemination of da'wah messages, but at the same time, it has also given rise to a proliferation of disinformation and hoaxes that have the potential to mislead the public. This paper aims to analyze the challenges of da'wah amidst the rapid flow of information that is not always valid, and to formulate relevant strategies for da'wah (Islamic preachers) in dealing with this situation. Using a qualitative approach based on a literature review, the research results show that hoaxes not only obscure the truth but can also weaken the moral authority of da'wah and divide the community. Da'wah in the era of disinformation and hoaxes faces complex challenges due to the rapid, massive, and often unverified flow of digital information. Hoaxes disguised as religious narratives can undermine the authority of da'wah (Islamic preachers), cause polarization, and even carry legal consequences. Therefore, adaptive, critical, and digital literacy-based da'wah strategies are needed, including prioritizing information clarification, strengthening communication ethics, and building collaborative da'wah networks. Preaching in the era of disinformation requires preachers to be not only skilled in conveying religious messages but also proficient in media and technology literacy, so that their preaching remains relevant, authentic, and effective for society

Abstract

This study discusses digital da'wah content that is developing in new media as a response to the culture of hedonism, using a contemporary da'wah approach.. The culture of hedonism in digital media is no longer merely about pursuing personal pleasure, but has transformed into a culture of self-image, commodification of happiness, and social recognition based on digital numbers. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the hedonistic culture that is developing in the new media ecosystem and to evaluate forms of digital da'wah content that are responsive to this phenomenon. Using a qualitative approach and library research methods, this study utilizes scientific literature sources, contemporary da'wah theory, new media theory, and hedonistic culture theory as analytical tools. The analysis technique is carried out thematically through the stages of issue categorization, theory synthesis, and critical interpretation. The results of the study indicate that the culture of hedonism in new media has three main characteristics: extreme visualization of a consumptive lifestyle, commodification of self-image as a source of happiness, and digital existence as a benchmark for social value. Responding to this, digital da'wah content has developed in three forms: (1) aesthetic narrative-visual to attract emotion and attention; (2) communicative and concise da'wah microlearning; and (3) reflective-critical content that challenges the culture of showing off and builds spiritual awareness. The implications of this research show that digital da'wah needs to play a strategic role not only as a conventional da'wah medium, but also as a counter-cultural space that presents alternative values to the dominance of hedonistic culture in the digital space.

Specific Background: Instagram is utilized by Afkaruna Official to communicate gender justice based on Islamic feminist perspectives to diverse audiences. Knowledge Gap: Existing studies rarely analyze communication strategies, message representation, and audience reception within Islamic feminist digital activism. Aims: This study examines the urgency of dissemination, communication strategies, and audience responses. Results: Instagram serves as a strategic space shaped by persistent gender bias and low literacy. Strategies include optimized content distribution, persuasive education, visual storytelling, and inclusive Islamic framing. Audience responses are generally positive through likes, comments, and shares, although active dialogue remains limited. Novelty: The study integrates digital communication strategies with Islamic feminist perspectives in social media activism. Implications: The findings indicate that social media contributes to gender justice literacy and public awareness while requiring more participatory communication approaches.
