Abstract

This Mathematics critical thinking skill is one of the components a student must possess. This skill will assist them to be able to make the right decision. In fact, however, not many of them having a high of critical thinking skill. It causes them to be lack of skills in completing the mathematics cases. This research aims to: (1) describe the critical thinking skills of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems and (2) identify the students' critical thinking components in the focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, dan overview. This was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. This research involved 32 subjects comprising 15 male students and 17 female students. The method used in this research is test, interview, and triangulation. The test used in this research consisted of 6 problems representing 6 sub-skills of critical thinking skills. The results of data collection were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that: (1) the critical thinking skills of junior high school students were in a low category; (2) overview became the lowest critical thinking sub-skills mastered by the students compared to other critical thinking sub-skills

Abstract

This study aims to describe the thinking process of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) students in solving mathematical problems using teaching aids. This research is a qualitative research that uses a descriptive research methodology. The subjects of this study were students at one of the Special Schools (SLB) in Cirebon City as many as 3 ADHD students who had received learning using visual aids. Then the subject selection technique used purposive sampling technique. The main instrument in this research is the researcher himself. Auxiliary instrument in this research is math problem in essay form. Data collection techniques using interview and test techniques. The data analysis techniques in this study consist of: (1) classifying the data, (2) presenting the data, and (3) concluding the data that has been obtained. The results showed that the thinking processes of ADHD students: (1) ADHD students can form understanding when answering questions about flat shapes; (2) ADHD students are not able to repeat the answers that have been obtained; (3) ADHD students are unable to use other strategies in solving given math problems; (4) ADHD students are not able to give reasons for the answers that have been obtained on the written answer sheet; and (5) ADHD students cannot give the correct conclusion on the answers that have been obtained.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui model pembelajaran yang lebih efektif antara model pembelajaran berbasis Argumentasi dengan model pembelajaran langsung  terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika siswa. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan menggunakan posttest-only control design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Cirebon yang tediri dari 360 siswa. Adapun Sampel pada penelitian ini diambil 2 kelas dengan teknik random sampling menggunakan undian kelas, diperoleh kelas VIII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII D sebagai kelas kontrol. Kelas VII A diberi perlakuan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis Argumentasi, sedangkan kelas VII D menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode dokumentasi dan tes.. Untuk pengujian hipotesis pada penelitian ini, digunakan uji t satu pihak  dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. Dari hasil uji-t  satu pihak, diperoleh bahwa thitung= 2,34 dan ttabel= 1,66. Berarti thitung > ttabel sehingga H0 ditolak, dan H1 diterima. Artinya model pembelajaran berbasis Argumentasi lebih efektif daripada model pembelajaran langsung terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP N di Kabupaten Cirebon.
