Abstract

The rapid integration of digital technologies in higher education has transformed academic and administrative processes, but it has also given rise to new challenges such as technostress among  faculty and  staff.  This  study  explores  the  interrelationships between technostress, perceived organizational support, and work engagement within higher education institutions. Drawing on organizational behavior and occupational stress frameworks, the research investigates how technostress influences employees’ psychological states, and whether perceived organizational support can serve as a buffer that enhances engagement. Using a quantitative approach with survey data collected from academic and administrative staff, the study applies structural equation modeling to test the hypothesized relationships. The findings reveal that technostress negatively impacts work engagement, while perceived organizational support significantly mitigates this effect and fosters higher levels of engagement. These results highlight the critical role of supportive organizational practices in sustaining employee well-being and performance amidst ongoing digital transformation. The study contributes to the literature on  technology-related  stressors  in  educational  settings  and  provides  practical insights for institutional leaders seeking to cultivate a resilient and engaged workforce.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan kedai kopi di Indonesia, khususnya di wilayah Bali, tampak dari semakin banyaknya kedai kopi yang tersebar di Kota Denpasar. Salah satu yang cukup populer adalah Fore Coffee. Dalam menghadapi persaingan yang kian memanas, Fore Coffee harus terus berinovasi, dari sisi produk dan pelayanan. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengkaji pengaruh pengembangan karir terhadap perilaku kewargaorganisasian, dengan keterlibatan karyawan sebagai pemediasi, pada barista Fore Coffee Kecamatan Denpasar Barat. Penelitian ini memiliki populasi mencakup barista Fore Coffee yang bekerja di wilayah tersebut, dengan sampel sebanyak 40 responden menggunakan teknik nonprobability sampling melalui metode jenuh. Metode yang digunakan dalam menganalisi hasil datanya adalah structural equation modeling (SEM) berbasis partial least squares (PLS). Penelitian ini memiliki hasil bahwa pengembangan karir memiliki pengaruh positif signifikan terhadap perilaku kewargaorganisasian, serta secara langsung meningkatkan keterikatan karyawan. Selain itu, keterikatan karyawan juga terbukti berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap perilaku kewargaorganisasian. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pengembangan karir sepenuhnya memediasi hubungan keterikatan karyawan dan perilaku kewargaorganisasian. Secara teoritis, ini menguatkan teori kognitif sosial dalam menjelaskan perilaku kewargaorganisasian. Secara praktis, penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pengelolaan pengembangan karir yang terbuka guna meningkatkan keterlibatan karyawan.   The growth of coffee shops in Indonesia, especially in Bali, is reflected in the increasing number of coffee shops in Denpasar, with Fore Coffee emerging as one of the more popular brands. To stay competitive in a saturated market, Fore Coffee must continuously innovate in both products and services. This study analyzes the influence of career development on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), with employee engagement as a mediating variable among baristas at Fore Coffee in West Denpasar. The research involved 40 respondents selected through non-probability saturated sampling, and the data were analyzed using SEM-PLS. The results show that career development has a significant positive effect on employee engagement and OCB, while employee engagement also positively affects OCB. In addition, employee engagement fully mediates the relationship between career development and OCB. The findings support social cognitive theory in explaining OCB and highlight the importance of transparent and strategic career development in practice.
