Abstract

Background : Number theory is often perceived as a difficult subject by students, particularly when taught using conventional textbooks. This challenge highlights the need for a more effective and interactive learning resource that aligns with students’ learning styles and curriculum requirements.Aim : This study aims to develop a comprehensive and curriculum-aligned number theory textbook to improve the understanding of students in the Mathematics Education Program at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu.Method : The research employed the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The study began with a needs analysis followed by the development of an interactive textbook. A total of 49 students participated in the study, divided into two groups: the Experimental Group (using the developed textbook) and the Control Group (using a conventional textbook). The effectiveness of the textbook was evaluated using N-Gain scores and t-tests.Results : The research found that the students in the Experimental Group, who used the newly developed textbook, demonstrated a significant improvement in understanding number theory compared to the Control Group. The Experimental Group showed a higher average N-Gain, suggesting that the developed textbook was more effective in enhancing student comprehension of number theory. The positive results indicated that the interactive and curriculum-aligned design of the textbook played a crucial role in improving the learning experience and outcomes for students.Conclusion : The findings suggest that the developed number theory textbook effectively enhances students’ comprehension and is appropriate for use as a teaching resource in the Mathematics Education Program at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of students' mathematics anxiety and analyze its impact on the ability to understand algebra concepts at SMP Negeri 11 Bengkulu Tengah. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with 25 seventh-grade students in the 2024/2025 academic year as research subjects. Research instruments included a mathematics anxiety questionnaire, algebra concept comprehension test, and semi-structured interviews. (1) The results showed that the majority of students (76%) experienced mathematics anxiety at moderate to high levels, with 40% of students in the high anxiety category, 36% in the moderate category, and 24% in the low category. (2) Students' ability to understand algebra concepts was also still low, with 48% of students in the poor and fair categories. Per-indicator analysis showed that students had the best mastery in restating concepts (82%), but were very weak in applying concepts to problem-solving (31.4%). (3) There was a consistent negative relationship between the level of mathematics anxiety and the ability to understand algebra concepts, where the higher the students' mathematics anxiety, the lower their ability to understand algebra concepts. Interview results with three research subjects showed that mathematics anxiety disrupted students' concentration, working memory, and self-confidence in doing mathematics, thus impacting the low achievement of algebra concept comprehension

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya faktor kognitif dan emosional dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pendekatan pembelajaran mendalam (deep learning) dan kecerdasan emosional terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VII di SMPN 4 Kota Bengkulu, baik secara parsial maupun simultan. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain asosiatif. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari siswa kelas VII.1 yang dijadikan responden penelitian. Data mengenai penerapan pendekatan deep learning dan kecerdasan emosional dikumpulkan melalui angket, sedangkan data hasil belajar matematika diperoleh dari nilai ulangan harian siswa. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji prasyarat statistik yang dilanjutkan dengan analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan deep learning berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap hasil belajar matematika dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar . Kecerdasan emosional juga berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap hasil belajar matematika dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar . Secara simultan, kedua variabel tersebut berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar matematika dengan kontribusi sebesar  Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi pembelajaran yang mendorong pemahaman mendalam serta pengembangan kecerdasan emosional siswa dapat mendukung peningkatan hasil belajar matematika secara optimal.
