Abstract

Patikala (Etlingera elatior) is a local Indonesian plant that can be used to improve meat quality because it contains secondary metabolic compounds and acid compounds which can be used to improve the meat quality of spent layer meat. This study aims to determine the potential of patikala fruit (Etlingera elatior) as a local plant in improving the physical quality of spent layer meat. This research method used a completely randomized design, with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The research design was determined based on the amount of meat used, namely soaking spent layer meat without patikala (Etlingera elatior) extract water concentration (T0=0%), the using patikala (Etlingera elatior) extract concentration (T1=25%), patikala (Etlingera elatior) extract concentration (T2=50%), patikala (Etlingera elatior) extract concentration (T3=75%), patikala (Etlingera elatior) extract concentration (T4=100%). The parameters observed were the physical quality of the meat, namely pH, cooking loss, tenderness and water-holding capacity. The results showed that soaking patikala (Etlingra elatior) extract had a very significant effect on improving the physical quality of spent layer meat based on pH values and cooking losses, but had not significant effect on the value of tenderness and water holding capacity of meat.

Abstract

Kata kunci: temulawak, kencur, mineral zink, broiler, organ limfoid, organ pencernaan Relative Weight of Digestive Organs and Lymphoid Broiler Chickens Given Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb., Kaempferia galangan L., and Mineral ZincABSTRACTUtilization of herbal plants as feed additives that have a phytobiotic function can be an alternative to replace the use of antibiotics in broiler cultivation. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of curcuma flour (Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb.) and Kaempferia galangan L. flour as phytobiotics combined with zinc minerals on the response of the digestive organs and lymphatic organs of broiler chickens The study was conducted using an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments, four replications, each of which contained three broiler chickens. The treatments (P) that were given included P1 (Basal ration), P2 (Basal ration +2.5% Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb. flour+ 120 ppm mineral zinc), P3 (Basal ration + 0.04% Kaempferia galangan L. flour + 120 ppm zinc mineral), P4 (Basal ration + 2.5% Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb. flour+ 0.04% Kaempferia galangan L. flour), and P5 (Basal ration + 2.5% Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb. flour + 0.04% Kaempferia galangan L. flour + 120 ppm zinc mineral). The results showed that the treatment had a significant effect (p<0.05) on the relative weight of the ventriculus, liver, thymus, and bursa fabrisius. The relative weight of the digestive organs was generally higher in the P5 treatment (basal ratio + 2.5% Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb flour +0.04% Kaempferia galangan L. flour +120 ppm mineral zinc). Meanwhile, the relative weight of lymphoid organs was greater in the treatment of ginger flour, kencur flour and zinc minerals than the control. The use of Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb flour, Kaempferia galangan L. flour and zinc minerals did not show any bad effects based on the relative weight of the digestive organs and lymphoid organs of broiler chickens. Keywords: temulawak, kencur, zinc minerals, broiler, lymphoid, digestive organs

ABSTRACT Information regarding the growth of beef cattle populations in a region is crucial for stakeholders, especially in decision-making, to encourage improvement and overcome existing obstacles in meeting the increasing demand for meat in each period. Because the data is fluctuating, predictions are made using trend analysis. This study aims to analyze the growth trends of beef cattle populations in Pinrang Regency, based on Gross Population and Net Population, from 2019 to 2023, and to predict population trends for the 2024-2027 period using the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR). The methodology employed in this research is a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing time series data on beef cattle population growth from 2019 to 2023, sourced from the Central Statistics Agency of Pinrang Regency and South Sulawesi Province, as well as the Animal Husbandry and Plantation Office of Pinrang Regency. Analysis was conducted using Gross Population, Net Population, and the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR). The results show that both Gross Population and Net Population experienced a significant decline, especially in 2022-2023. The decline was caused by low birth rates, high livestock outflow, and deaths due to disease outbreaks. The CAGR prediction indicates a continued decline in population until 2027, with a rate of -29.69%. The impact of this trend includes a beef deficit, rising meat prices, and increased dependence on imported meat. In conclusion, the growth trend of beef cattle in Pinrang Regency shows a negative trend from 2019 to 2023 and is expected to continue until 2027, with a CAGR of -29.69%. Mitigating the impact requires strategic policy interventions such as improving birth rates, adopting reproductive technologies, and preventing and controlling diseases to sustain the beef cattle farming industry in Pinrang Regency Keywords: Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), Population, Beef Cattle.
