Abstract

The land conflict between Suku Anak Dalam Bathin Sembilan and PT. Asiatic Persada had occurred since 1987. This conflict occurred because of PT. Asiatic Persada has occupied 3.550 hectares of Suku Anak Dalam Bathin Sembilan’s land. This paper will analyze how the movement of Suku Anak Dalam Bathin Sembilan who lived in Bungku Village, Batanghari, Jambi to struggle their land. This study uses the social movement theory that explains three phases of movements, such as the interest phase, the protest phase, and perspective phase. The author uses a qualitative method and the data are taken from interviews and literature study. This study found that the beginning movement of Suku Anak Dalam Bathin Sembilan was very intense with the support of local and international Non-Governmental organizations, then the movement built a sustainable strategy in the protest phase. Unfortunately, that strong movement has split into two in the perspective phase.

Abstract

The existence of Afghanistan that dubbed The Golden Cresent is the birthplace of two global terrorist groups namely the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Nearly 70% of drug activity in Afghanistan has been strongly controlled by Taliban terrorist groups since 2007. Using narcoterrorism and non-traditional security threat conceptual frameworks, this article explains the dynamics of the development of opium production and trade in Afghanistan, the Taliban track record in the opium trade in Afghanistan and the opium trade as a non-traditional security threat in Afghanistan. This article uses descriptive analysis of data obtained from books, journals, and mass media. In this study, there are two important points that obtained. First, the opium business which is a source of funding for the Taliban group is one of the main causes of the continuing acts of terrorism in Afghanistan and a source of various transnational crimes. Second, the opium trade and terrorism are non-traditional security threats that occur due to a combination of opium trade and acts of terrorism which have implications for the internal and external areas of Afghanistan.

Abstract

This research analyzes about the status that given towards terrorists according to the Geneva Conventions as a source of International Humanitarian Law. This research is using descriptive qualitative methods to describe the practices carried out by terrorists and violations committed against the International Humanitarian Law. The sources for this research are from literature studies with secondary data sources such as books, articles, research journals, mass media, college notes, and internet sites. This research describing that according to the Geneva Conventions, the status given to terrorists as perpetrators of crimes against humanity is unlawful combatant. In addition, the ICRC also gives unprivileged belligerent status to those who carry out their acts of terrorist as individuals and do not have assimilation with any terrorism groups. Acts of terrorism have also been proven to violates the Geneva Conventions, including Article 33 and Article 147 of the Geneva Convention IV 1949, Articles 51 and 85 of Additional Protocol I 1977, and Article 13 of Additional Protocol II 1977.

Abstract

Covid-19 dikategorikan sebagai pandemi global sejak Maret tahun 2020 sehingga data dan informasi Covid-19 telah menjadi konsumsi harian masyarakat Indonesia dalam rentang satu setengah tahun terakhir. Penyajian data dan informasi Covid-19 tidak bisa dipisahkan dari pemanfaatan teknologi geospasial khususnya yang berbasis sistem informasi geografis (SIG). Artikel ini hendak memaparkan peran Esri Indonesia sebagai aktor non negara sekaligus penyedia teknologi geospasial berbasis SIG yakni ArcGIS. Selanjutnya, artikel ini juga akan memaparkan tentang pemanfaatan ArcGIS sebagai bentuk teknologi geospasial berbasis SIG di bidang kesehatan, sosial dan ekonomi oleh beberapa pihak yakni Pemerintah Indonesia, LPBI NU dan pengusaha ikan fillet di era pandemi Covid-19. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Data diperoleh dari studi kepustakaan, wawancara dan survei terhadap 134 responden.

Abstract

Budidaya jamur di Dusun Kruwet sebelumnya pernah diperkenalkan tetapi untuk produktivitas dan keberlanjutannya sempat terhenti karena permasalahan mengenai ketidakpahaman masyarakat dalam manajemen pengelolaan keuangan dan tidak adanya pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam budidaya jamur tersebut. Hal ini menjadikan kelompok ibu-ibu rumah tangga yang sebelumnya menjadi target pembinaan budidaya jamur pada awalnya hanya memanen jamur dari hasil hibah pembibitan saja tanpa mengetahui teknik untuk membuat bibit atau menyiapkan peralatan dan bahan untuk pembudidayaan jamur tersebut. Masyarakat setempat juga tidak paham mengenai agenda sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2030 yang merupakan tanggung jawab bersama dalam mewujudkannya. Dengan adanya permasalahan tersebut, Tim pengabdian masyarakat prodi Ilmu Hubungan Internasional, Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta menawarkan pendampingan dengan mensosialisasikan agenda SDGs, pengenalan, pelatihan pembuatan media untuk penanaman jamur sampai pada tahap pemasaran hasil budidaya jamur sehingga kelompok ibu-ibu rumah tangga di Dusun Kruwet mampu menjadikan kegiatan ini sebagai salah satu upaya peningkatan ekonomi keluarga dan mewujudkan agenda SDGs 2030.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in managing the eruption of Mount Sinabung. The eruption of Mount Sinabung in 2010 and another eruption in 2013 had a major impact on the people living around Mount Sinabung. The role of various parties was carried out, including the presence of an international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Karo Regency. This paper will describe the role of NGOs using the concept of disaster management which consists of pre-disaster, emergency response, and post-disaster stages. In this study, it was found that during the pre-disaster stage the international NGOs present were FM Yoboseyo Yumen (FMYY) Japan and Mercy Malaysia. During the emergency response stage, the World Food Program (WFP) was present in Karo District. At the post-disaster stage are the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the International Labor Organization (ILO), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). This research method used a qualitative approach with descriptive research types, and data collection through interviews and secondary data.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper will explain about the securitization process in addressing refugees issue in Sweden from 2010 to 2015. This research uses the concept of securitization from Barry Buzan. Some important things that Buzan explained to analyze the process of securitization, such as: Referent Object (Actors), Existential Threats (things or issues that become threats), then will proceed to be “Securitizing Move” by “Speech Act”. This paper uses qualitative method which is arranged descriptively with support by secondary data. This paper found that the process of securitization on refugee policies in Sweden from 2010 to 2015 is supported by Sweden Democrats Party and gained the response of Swedish anti-immigrant society, they are conducting the “Speech Act” sustainably.  The result is that Sweden's open policy on refugees has changes by restricting and tightening the refugees policy. Keywords: Securitization Process, Democrats Sweden Party, Refugees Issue, Swedish Government, Swedish Society Response

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper discusses the humanitarian intervention in Nigeria because the Boko Haram’s attack. Humanitarian intervention was carried out because there had been gross human rights violations in an area and the government's inability to solve them. Boko Haram attack has caused a humanitarian crisis in Nigeria. Unfortunately, Nigeria has been unable to solve the problem. Boko Haram is a separatist group that wants to replace Nigeria’s legitimate government to Sharia Law. Thus, humanitarian intervention is needed. This paper will explain three sub chapters of the discussion, such as: First, the political and economic conditions in Nigeria. Second, process of Boko Haram attack. Third, humanitarian intervention efforts in Nigeria carried out by international actors, such as: The African Union, some countries in Africa, the United States and some international humanitarian agencies. The research method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method. Data sources from literature and internet studies. This paper finds that the humanitarian intervention consists of a military approach and a socio-economic approach. In 2020, humanitarian interventions focus on recovery in education, health issues, and assisting the shelter of refugees.

Abstract

Rusia yang merupakan negara dengan kekuatan militer peringkat ke-2 di dunia, melakukan invasi ke Ukraina pada tanggal 24 Februari 2022. Invasi yang dilakukan oleh Rusia dilatar belakangi oleh ancaman dari Ukraina yang ingin bergabung ke NATO. Ukraina yang kekuatan militernya tidak begitu besar melakukan strategi crowdfunding atau penggalangan dana untuk memperkuat pertahanan militernya melalui organisasi salah satunya adalah Come Back Alive. Penggalangan dana dilakukan melalui cara cryptocurrency. Penggalangan dana menyediakan seperti peralatan medis, penyediaan perlengkapan militer seperti baju anti peluru, helm, dan lain-lain. Come Back Alive menjadi organisasi terbesar yang melakukan penggalangan dana untuk angkatan bersenjata Ukraina. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif untuk menjelaskan analisis kampanye galang dana yang dilakukan Come Back Alive. Konsep keamanan militer digunakan untuk menganalisis kajian ini. Penelitian ini menemukan fenomena tersebut sebagai wujud upaya produksi keamanan militer oleh masyarakat dan NGO.

Abstract

This paper will explain about how indigenous people as minority group receive their recognition and accommodation by government, especially in implementation of international norm that pertains to indigenous peoples and recognized in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and Convention ILO 169. This paper will explore the issue in Latin Amerika region. To achieve the objective of this paper, author will explain in two main themes: First, the development of the political participation indigenous people in Latin American states. Second, the rights of indigenous people to their ancestral land through international norm FPIC (Free, Prior, and Informed Consent) that adopted in Latin America states. I argue that the development of indigenous people rights to their land in Latin America is supported by political participation of indigenous people in the government system in Latin America states.Keywords: indigenous people rights; international norm; Latin America; political participation.
