The research employed a cross-sectional survey with descriptive analysis and utilized a sample of 139 students from both universities. It identified three typologies of Islamic identities within the students: first, the Puritans, who are identical to the Indonesian Salafist local leader Yazid bin Abdul Qadir Jawas; second, the moderate Islam, influenced by Yusuf al-Qardhawi's teaching; and third, the liberal, associated with Ulil Abshar Abdala's Jaringan Islam Liberal movement. The findings are: The students enrolled in the Islamic Religious Education at Universitas Islam Bandung showed a predominant inclination towards the Puritans (50-53.3%), the moderate (30%), and the liberal (16.7-20%), respectively. Within Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia's student reveals a trend towards the Puritans (30-43.3%), the moderate (26.7- 50%), and the liberal (20-30%), respectively. This shows there is a strong inclination towards the Puritans within both universities, and it is recommended that both universities formulate policies and strategies for strengthening religious moderation.

Abstract

The Tahfidz method strategically improves students' Qur'an literacy, especially in tajwid, fluency, and memorization. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Tahfidz method in increasing the memorization capacity of the Qur'an of grade 6 students of SDN Jatimekar through a pseudo-experimental approach with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. 72 students were divided into an experimental group (Tahfidz method, n=36) and a control group (conventional method, n=36). The results of the t-test showed a significant difference between the average final test score of the experimental group (82) and the control group (78), with t(70) = 4.094, p < 0.05. The Tahfidz method has been proven to significantly increase the memorization capacity of the Qur'an, especially in the application of Tajwid and fluency in reading. The study offered novelty through the correlation of the intensity of the Tahfidz method with the improvement of students' abilities, showing a significant positive relationship (r = 0.917, p < 0.05). The implications of this research include integrating the Tahfidz method in the curriculum, teacher training for the effective application of methods, and using technology such as gamification to overcome time constraints and student motivation. This research makes an important contribution to the development of national Qur'an literacy and becomes a practical reference for educators and policymakers to improve the quality of Islamic religious education.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Duha prayers on students' daily performance of fardhu prayers. A quantitative approach was utilized, involving surveys, questionnaires, and interviews for data collection. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted. The research findings indicate a correlation between regular Duha prayers and students' adherence to fardhu prayers at home, with a 20.5% and 79.5% difference in performance before and after implementing the Duha prayer, respectively, which can be attributed to various factors. This percentage demonstrates the impact of the habit of Duha prayers on students' consciousness in fulfilling fardhu prayers, with the main contributing factor being the students' awareness developed through consistent practice at school. The consistent practice of habits can significantly influence a person's personality. Similarly, incorporating the habit of performing the Duha prayer is essential in shaping students' personalities. The implementation of fardhu prayers at home has a noticeable impact on students. Since fardhu prayers are obligatory for Muslims, it is essential to have a supportive process to ensure their fulfillment.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the Islamic boarding school curriculum in enhancing students' competencies in the Tahfidzul Qur'an program at Pesantren Darul Ulum Gunung Halu, Bandung. Key challenges include unsystematic evaluation, varied teaching methods, and differing levels of student discipline. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research collects data through observations and interviews with administrators and students. Findings show that the tahfidz curriculum is implemented through muroja’ah, tasmi’, and tadarus methods, with evaluations consisting of daily recitations, semester exams, and annual assessments. The program’s success is driven by effective management, strict discipline, and competency-based learning. Systematic curriculum planning and periodic evaluations significantly enhance the quality of tahfidz education. Through structured learning, discipline, and a supportive environment, the pesantren successfully produces students who not only excel in Qur'anic memorization but also internalize and practice Islamic values in daily life.

Abstract

Indonesia’s diverse religious landscape offers both opportunities and challenges in fostering societal harmony. Presidential Regulation No. 58 of 2023 on Strengthening Religious Moderation integrates principles of relational pluralism, managed pluralism, and religious institutional pluralism to promote interfaith dialogue, inclusivity, and public safety while respecting the autonomy of religious communities. This qualitative study, based on document analysis, interviews, and observations, reveals that the regulation facilitates collaboration between state and religious groups, increases participation in interfaith initiatives, and reduces prejudice, particularly among younger demographics. Despite these successes, challenges such as cultural resistance, uneven implementation, and limited understanding of pluralism persist. The findings contribute to the discourse on pluralism by connecting theoretical frameworks with practical applications in Indonesia’s unique socio-religious context and offer recommendations for enhancing policy effectiveness through education, capacity building, and strategic implementation.
