Abstract

The convergence between sustainability and halal consumption practices has led to a surge of interest in identifying variables influencing consumer behavior towards purchasing eco-friendly and sustainable halal goods. This paper examines the effects of Islamic ethics, environmental consciousness, and social norms on the purchase intention of eco-friendly and sustainable halal products, considering the moderating role of consumer trust. Four hundred and twelve participants among Muslims participated in the study, and their data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The proposed model had good explanatory power as it was able to explain 68.4% and 59.7% of the variances in green halal purchase intention (R² = 0.684) and consumer trust (R² = 0.597), respectively. Results of this study indicate that Islamic ethics (β = 0.31, p < 0.001), environmental consciousness (β = 0.27, p < 0.001), and social norms (β = 0.22, p < 0.01) positively influenced consumer trust. Moreover, consumer trust significantly and positively impacted green halal purchase intention (β = 0.45, p < 0.001). The mediation analyses reveal that consumer trust partly mediates the effect of Islamic ethical values, environment, and social norms on green halal purchase intention. Out of all the antecedents tested, Islamic ethical values have been found to be the most effective determinant of green halal purchase intention. It can thus be concluded that the purchase intention for green halal products increases significantly if the customers perceive these products as being consistent with Islamic moral standards, sustainable for the environment, and approved by society, especially where the issue of consumer trust is involved. This research has contributed significantly to the extant literature by showing how trust acts as an important bridge between the antecedents of green halal purchase intention and the actual intention to purchase.

Abstract

The modern coffee industry in Indonesia has grown rapidly with the emergence of popular brands such as Kopi Kenangan, Janji Jiwa, and Fore Coffee. These brands operate in a monopolistic competition market structure, characterized by many sellers offering similar but differentiated products. This study aims to analyze the market structure, differentiation strategies, and the nature of competition among leading coffee brands, as well as to examine their alignment with Islamic economic principles, such as fairness, transparency, and the prohibition of unhealthy competition. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method by collecting secondary data and conducting limited interviews with consumers and business actors. The results indicate that while the competition is generally fair, aggressive promotional strategies and market dominance by larger brands may create imbalances that warrant further ethical evaluation from an Islamic economic perspective.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determination of a 1:1 inheritance distribution between male and female heirs in Islamic law from the perspectives of formal juridical aspects, rights and obligations, historical aspects, and sociological aspects. The research employs a normative legal or dogmatic legal approach. The results of this study indicate that a 1:1 inheritance distribution between sons and daughters may be implemented when there is mutual consent among the heirs, even though Article 176 of the Compilation of Islamic Law and Qur'an Surah An-Nisa verse 11 explicitly stipulate that the inheritance ratio between male and female children is 2:1. This determination is based on several perspectives. First, the formal juridical perspective, which considers that men and women possess equal standing before the law in modern society. Second, the perspective of rights and obligations, which views inheritance as a right rather than an obligation, thereby allowing an equal 1:1 inheritance agreement. Third, the historical perspective, which understands the 2:1 inheritance provision as originating within the context of pre-Islamic Arab society that previously denied inheritance rights to women, making the primary principle the recognition of women as legal heirs. Fourth, the sociological perspective, which shows that daughters often provide greater care to the deceased during illness and until death, so that a 1:1 distribution is considered more reflective of justices

Abstract

Higher education for women in rural areas is a key element in community empowerment, but access to it is still hampered by social and economic factors. Women in Pasir Gombong Village, Bayah District, face challenges in accessing higher education due to unequal opportunities, conservative social norms, and lack of sustainable institutional support. This community service aims to increase women's participation in higher education by applying a participatory approach involving various stakeholders. The programme includes an initial survey to map the main barriers, focus group discussions (FGDs) to explore community perspectives, educational workshops to increase understanding of the benefits of higher education, and academic mentoring for young women who plan to continue their education. The programme evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test to measure changes in community perceptions towards higher education for women after the intervention. The results show that this intervention programme succeeded in raising community awareness about the importance of higher education for women, strengthening institutional support, and increasing women's motivation to pursue higher education. The conclusion of this service emphasises the importance of a holistic approach in overcoming social and institutional barriers. This model can be replicated in other areas by adjusting the intervention strategy according to the social and cultural characteristics of the local community.
