Abstract

This study explores the role of mentoring and the utilization of MSMEs machinery as strategic factors in preparing effective business plans for young start-ups, with a focus on Thai snack micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Mentoring is examined as a source of guidance, knowledge transfer, and confidence building, while UMKM machinery is considered as a technological variable that enhances production efficiency and product quality. Using a case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis from selected Thai snack MSMEs. The findings indicate that mentoring significantly improves entrepreneurs’ ability to structure comprehensive business plans, identify market opportunities, and manage risks. Simultaneously, the adoption of UMKM machinery contributes to operational scalability and competitiveness, enabling young start-ups to meet market demand more effectively. The integration of mentoring and machinery adoption provides a synergistic effect, resulting in stronger strategic planning and sustainable business growth. This study highlights the importance of combining human capital development with technological adoption to support the success of young entrepreneurs in the MSME sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Story-Based Learning (SBL) model on the multidimensional literacy and emotional engagement of elementary school students. The research design employed a quasi-experimental method with a mixed-methods approach. A total of 180 fourth-grade students from three elementary schools were divided into two groups: an experimental group applying SBL and a control group following conventional learning. Quantitative data were collected through pre-test and post-test measures assessing reading, writing, and critical thinking abilities, as well as an emotional engagement questionnaire. In addition, qualitative data were obtained from participatory observations and semi-structured interviews to enrich the understanding of the learning process in the field. The analysis showed that the experimental group experienced a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the multidimensional literacy aspects, particularly in reading (85.4 vs. 78.7), writing (83.1 vs. 75.6), critical thinking (81.5 vs. 73.4), and collaboration and communication (84.0 vs. 77.3). An increase in emotional engagement was also reflected by a rise in motivation scores from 3.2 to 4.0 (on a 1–5 scale), accompanied by a higher level of students’ interest and self-confidence compared to the control group. Classroom observations and interviews indicated that story-based instruction successfully triggered students’ enthusiasm, empathy, and active participation in discussions and expressing opinions. Thus, SBL can be proposed as an effective and holistic learning model for enhancing both the multidimensional literacy and emotional engagement of elementary school students. The practical implications of these findings highlight the importance of teachers’ readiness in selecting relevant stories, designing creative activities, and managing classroom interactions in a communicative manner. Curriculum support and collaboration among stakeholders are also needed to optimize the benefits of SBL, fostering a literate, critical, and empathetic generation.

Abstract

Technological advances in online transportation services such as Grab facilitated user mobility. User reviews of the application were a valuable source of information for developers to improve service quality and for users to make decisions regarding service use. This research aimed to analyze the sentiment of Grab application user reviews using a machine learning approach. The system development method used in this research was the Agile method with the stages of Planning, Iterative Development, and Testing. The machine learning algorithms applied were Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Naive Bayes. The results of sentiment analysis of Grab application reviews were in the form of classification of reviews into positive, neutral, and negative sentiments. The test results showed that the Random Forest algorithm had the highest accuracy rate of 95.14%. This indicated that Random Forest was effective in identifying sentiment patterns in review data.

Abstract

Economic growth in developing countries is vital for alleviating poverty, reducing inequality, and fostering sustainable development. However, this field faces challenges such as resource constraints and global disruptions, including the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses bibliometric methods to analyze research trends on economic growth in developing countries over the past five years (2020–2024). Based on 232 publications indexed in the Scopus database, we employed the bibliometric analysis using scival tools provided by Elsevier to examine publication metrics, citation counts, and thematic patterns. The results show a steady rise in research output, with a focus on sustainability and environmental economics. China leads in both scholarly output and citation impact, followed by contributions from the United States and Pakistan. Key topics include the Environmental Kuznets Curve, renewable energy, and trade liberalization, aligning with global sustainability goals. However, research from regions like Africa and Latin America remains underrepresented, and emerging areas such as digital transformation and equitable growth receive limited attention. These findings emphasize the need to design policies that balance economic growth with environmental sustainability. Enhancing regional collaboration and supporting underrepresented areas can improve research equity and impact. This study provides actionable insights and identifies opportunities for more inclusive and impactful future research in economic growth.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to changes in consumption habits and irrational consumption, which also exhibit a strong tendency towards family economic education (FEE) in shaping student economic behavior and economic irrationality (IR). The novelty of this study lies in the exploration of the relationship between FEE and students’ economic behavior mediated by basic economic (BE) understanding, which is still under-explored in the context of economic education in Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative approach with structural equation modeling (SEM). A total of 385 students of economics or economic education study programs are spread across 38 provinces in Indonesia. The finding of the research indicate that FEE has a significant but relatively weak positive effect on students’ BE understanding. In addition, FEE directly increases students’ irrationality, as well as BE understanding, which also turns out to contribute positively to such irrational behavior. This finding implicitly shows that the delivery of intensive FEE information does not always have a positive impact but can actually strengthen IR in students. Thus, this study emphasizes the need for a more careful and selective approach in FEE to reduce students’ irrational behavior.

Abstract

Management of local wisdom-based tourism products, development and packaging of globally competitive local products can be packaged through educational tourism. Educational Tourism is an effort to introduce local wisdom products of a country. One of Thailand's local wisdom products is traditional pottery. However, the existence of pottery in the era of modernization began to be less attractive to the younger generation. This international service was carried out with the aim of recognizing local culture and local wisdom products and participating in painting traditional Thai pottery. This activity is a community service activity that collaborates between the Faculty of Economics and Business of Swadaya Gunung Jati University Indonesia, Panca Sakti Tegal University Indonesia, Thai Globa Businnes Administration Technological College Thailand (TGBC Thailand), Suan Dusit University and Eastern Instutite for Integrated Learning in Management University India. Community service activities were carried out in Nong Nooch Thailand, with a total of 30 participants consisting of 10 students and 20 lecturers. Through this international service, it fosters a sense of love and preservation of cultural heritage and local wisdom products of a country.

Abstract

Accounting is a science that has its own unique features, where every country applies accounting principles in accordance with standardized international norms. Accounting plays an important role for countries as it can be considered the language of business, revealing the financial performance of enterprises. The diversity in accounting applications across nations inspired our interest in exploring the differences between Indonesian and Thai accounting practices through community service involving lecturers and students from Thai Global Business Administration Technological College Thailand (TGBC Thailand). This international community service initiative included six lecturers from Indonesia, five lecturers from TGBC, and 15 students, at TGBC. The purpose of this international community service was to educate participants about and introduce accounting practices applied in both Indonesia and Thailand. This activity is expected to provide additional insights and applications of new knowledge in the field of accounting.
