Abstract

Obesity is a rapidly increasing global health problem and requires effective intervention strategies. Low-carbohydrate diets have become a major concern in obesity management, but previous studies have provided mixed results. This study aims to conduct a meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of a low-carbohydrate diet on weight loss in obese patients. The research method used in this research is meta analysis. A literature search was conducted through electronic databases for studies that met the inclusion criteria. Data from selected studies were then analyzed using meta-analysis methods to determine the effects of low-carbohydrate diets on weight loss. The results of this study stated that the meta-analysis involved data from 10 studies that met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that a low-carbohydrate diet significantly contributed to weight loss in obese patients. The average weight loss achieved was significantly higher in the group on a low-carbohydrate diet compared to the control group. The conclusion of this study, namely from this meta-analysis, shows that a low-carbohydrate diet is effective in reducing weight in obese patients. The clinical implication of these results is that low-carbohydrate diets may be an effective therapeutic option in the management of obesity. However, further research needs to be done to understand in more depth the long-term effects and safety of this low-carbohydrate diet. Through this research, it is hoped that it can provide a deeper understanding of the effectiveness of a low-carbohydrate diet as an obesity management strategy.

Mental health education programs have an important role in increasing the understanding and skills of patients experiencing mental disorders. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of mental health education programs for patients with mental disorders through a qualitative approach using phenomenological methods. The research background highlights the need for a holistic approach to the management of mental disorders, with an emphasis on comprehensive education and understanding. The aim of this study was to understand patients' subjective experiences of a mental health education program and to evaluate its impact on improving their well-being. The research method used involves a qualitative approach with a phenomenological approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation. Data analysis was conducted thematically to identify common patterns in participant experiences and program impact. The research results show that mental health education programs make a positive contribution to increasing patients' understanding of their condition, strengthening coping skills, and improving overall quality of life. Patients expressed positive changes in self-perception, interpersonal relationships, and ability to manage symptoms. However, challenges such as stigmatization and lack of social support were also identified. This research concludes that mental health education programs have a significant impact on improving the well-being of patients with mental disorders. Recommendations are provided to increase program accessibility, reduce stigma associated with mental disorders, and strengthen social support for patients. Further research is needed to explore the effectiveness of this program over a longer period of time and in a broader population.

Abstract

The role of nurses in emergency management is very crucial in providing effective and timely services to patients. Training in emergency management skills is important to improve nurses' competence in situations that require a quick and precise response. The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of emergency management skills training for nurses on increasing competence and readiness in responding to emergency situations. This research method uses a pre-test post-test study design with a control group, where a number of nurses from various care units are identified and divided into an intervention group (which received training) and a control group (without training). Training is carried out using simulation methods and practical exercises involving realistic emergency scenarios. Before and after training, both groups were tested to measure their level of competency and readiness in responding to emergency situations. The results of the study showed a significant increase in the level of competency and readiness to respond to emergency situations in the group that received emergency handling skills training compared to the control group. Nurses who undergo training show increased abilities in evaluating situations, making decisions, and implementing appropriate actions in emergency situations. The conclusion of this research is that training in emergency management skills has a significant positive influence on increasing the competency and readiness of nurses in responding to emergency situations. Implementing regular and comprehensive training in care environments can be an effective strategy for improving healthcare standards and patient safety.

Abstract

One of the main causes of infant mortality is low birth weight babies. Low birth weight babies are high risk babies and are susceptible to various problems such as the risk of respiratory infections, low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia), eating disorders, too many red blood cells and the risk of experiencing hypothermia. Hypothermia in babies with low birth weight is caused by very thin subcutaneous fat so it is influenced by environmental temperature. In general, babies with low birth weight must be treated with an incubator or using the KMC method so that their body temperature is maintained. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) method among mothers and the increase in Low Birth Weight (LBW) Babies in the NICU Room at Mayapada Hospital, South Jakarta. This research is quantitative using a correlative analytical descriptive design with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was the total sample, namely all 30 babies treated in the NICU room from October 2023 to February 2024. Data analysis used the Chi Square test. Research results: p-value= 0.001 (<0.05) with an OR value of 6.5. Conclusion: shows that there is a significant relationship between knowledge about the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) Method in mothers and the increase in Low Birth Weight (LBW) in the NICU room at Mayapada Hospital, South Jakarta.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia), caused by insufficient insulin secretion, impaired insulin activity, or both. One of the management strategies for Diabetes Mellitus is physical exercise. Diabetes exercise is a low-impact aerobic workout recommended by PERSADIA. The fifth series of diabetes exercise, with a duration of 40-60 minutes, is beneficial in converting glucose into energy, thus slowing the progression of diabetes. This study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of the fifth series of diabetes exercise and blood sugar levels in members of PERSADIA at Mayapada Hospital Bogor. The study uses a quantitative descriptive design with a quasi-experimental approach through a one-group pre-posttest design. The research subjects were members of PERSADIA who participated in diabetes exercise, with a total sample of 30 respondents. The results showed that almost all members of PERSADIA at Mayapada Hospital Bogor experienced a reduction in random blood sugar levels (93.3%) after performing diabetes exercise according to the standard operating procedure (40-60 minutes), while 2 members (6.7%) who did not follow the SOP and exercised for less than 40 minutes experienced an increase in blood sugar levels. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant relationship between the duration of the fifth series of diabetes exercise and blood sugar levels in PERSADIA members at Mayapada Hospital Bogor. Conclusion: Diabetes exercise can play a role in regulating blood glucose levels if conducted according to the principles of diabetes exercise, which include meeting the standards of frequency, intensity, duration, and type of exercise.
