Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mengajar guru Bahasa Inggris tingkat SMP di Kota Bandar Lampung melalui pemanfaatan teknologi AI SmallTalk2Me. Teknologi ini membantu guru dalam mengembangkan materi pembelajaran, melatih pelafalan, serta meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dalam mengajar Bahasa Inggris secara lisan (SmallTalk2Me, 2024). Program pelatihan dilakukan melalui workshop interaktif dan praktik langsung dengan bimbingan dari Program Studi Magister Bahasa Inggris Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan guru menggunakan SmallTalk2Me untuk menunjang proses belajar mengajar. Para peserta juga menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi terhadap keberlanjutan pemanfaatan teknologi ini dalam kelas mereka.

Abstract

Teaching student with special needs could be complicated. This research aimed to define English teachers' challenges in teaching English to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This research was conducted at SLB Pelita Nusa Pekanbaru using qualitative methods within a case study research design. In-depth interviews with two English teachers, observation, and documentation were used as data collection techniques. Based on the results, teachers faced several challenges in teaching English to students with ASD that are closely related to the characteristics of the children themselves. The challenges could be regarding students' mood and emotional regulation issues, tantrums and behavioural issues, verbal communication barriers, short attention span and memory retention issues, students' repetitive and restricted behaviour, lack of motivation, and external factors such as parental influence. To address these issues, teachers used various strategies such as repetition in learning, using visual aids and technology, simplifying the instructions, adjusting the phase of learning, and collaborating with the parents. This research provides practical insight into teaching English to students with ASD. It highlights the necessity for teachers to be patient, creative, adaptive, and collaborative when teaching English to students with ASD.

Abstract

This research examines the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance speaking skills in a vocational school in Lampung. The investigation utilises a subjective strategy, centring on English teachers' recognitions and encounters in utilising PBL. The considering points to investigate how English instructors see the viability of PBL in progressing professional students' talking abilities, recognize challenges in actualizing PBL, and report procedures and best hones utilised by instructors. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with English instructors at SMK Tri Sukses. The discoveries uncover that PBL essentially improves understudy inspiration and engagement in learning English. Abstract

This study investigates the challenges and opportunities of corporate governance in Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) by employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Corporate governance in IFIs is distinct from conventional institutions due to the dual requirement of complying with international governance standards and Shariah principles. The review synthesizes findings from peer-reviewed articles published between 2019 and 2024 to provide a comprehensive understanding of the governance landscape in IFIs. The results highlight several persistent challenges, including the lack of standardization in Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB) practices, regulatory fragmentation across jurisdictions, and limited expertise among governance professionals. These challenges create inconsistencies in the effectiveness of Shariah governance and may undermine institutional credibility. However, the study also identifies considerable opportunities. Strengthening corporate governance enhances stakeholder trust, increases investor confidence, and positions IFIs as leaders in ethical and sustainable finance. Furthermore, the adoption of digital governance tools, such as blockchain and artificial intelligence, offers innovative solutions to improve transparency, accountability, and compliance monitoring. This study contributes to the literature by consolidating recent insights and proposing recommendations for harmonization, capacity building, and sustainability integration. It concludes that robust governance frameworks are critical for the long-term stability of IFIs and their role in advancing ethical finance aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

The following aims guided the conduct of this study: Developing Smartphone-based Learning application based on animal descriptions. Understanding the viability of a smartphone-based learning application focused on descriptive writings about animals. In this study, the researcher used the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE development stages (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation), especially the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases, but research was only conducted until the development stage. Material and media professionals carried out media validation. The Articulate Storyline 3 application was used to develop Android application-based learning media based on descriptive text about animals. The material expert's validation results obtained an average rating of 4.77 in the area of "Very Feasible." The media expert's assessment got an average rating of 4.73 in the "Very Feasible" category.

Abstract

Research on pre-service teachers (PSTs) has increasingly focused on their integration of technology-based tools during teaching practicums. However, limited attention has been given to how PSTs navigate these tools in rural school settings. This study examines the types of technology-based tools selected by PSTs and explores their perspectives on their use in English teaching. Employing a qualitative descriptive research design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with eight PSTs from Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia who taught in two public rural schools during their teaching practicum. The interview data were transcribed, coded, and analyzed thematically. Findings revealed that PSTs primarily utilized AI, web-based, and game-based tools in their teaching. Among AI-based tools, ChatGPT was the most frequently used. Canva, Pinterest, and Bilibili were commonly selected for web-based tools, while Kahoot! Quizizz and Wordwall were preferred for game-based learning. PSTs expressed positive views on these tools, highlighting improvements in students’ learning satisfaction, motivation, and classroom engagement. However, they also faced challenges, particularly regarding accessibility and technical limitations in rural areas. Additionally, students had limited digital competencies, which must be addressed to prepare them for future technological advancements. Teaching obstacles also stemmed from the incompatibility of students’ digital devices, further complicating technology integration in the classroom. Despite these barriers, such challenges should not hinder the educational process. Students' limitations can be addressed through collaborative learning strategies and enhancements in instructional quality. Therefore, this study recommends infrastructure improvements to expand technology accessibility and implement adaptive teaching strategies that maximize available resources in rural settings.

Abstract

Program Kelas Berbagi merupakan inisiasi CSR PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Jambi Merang pada tahun 2021 di SDN 2 Sukajaya yang bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran dan pengelolaan sampah serta pelestarian lingkungan. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi efektivitas program tersebut menggunakan metode Social Return on Investment (SROI). Data diperoleh dari wawancara mendalam, FGD, dan dokumen internal perusahaan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai SROI sebesar 2,16, yang mengindikasikan setiap investasi 1 rupiah menghasilkan manfaat sebesar 2,16 rupiah. Program ini berhasil membangun ekosistem berkelanjutan di sekolah, meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang lingkungan, dan memberikan dampak positif bagi seluruh pemangku kepentingan. Keterlibatan berbagai pihak, termasuk dinas, pemerintah, dan lembaga masyarakat di Kabupaten Musi Banyuasin, menunjukkan adanya kerja sama yang partisipatif dan kolaboratif, yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan di kalangan penerima manfaat program.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to enhance the efficiency of working capital management among food and beverage vendors operating around Lapangan Pancasila Palopo. Efficient working capital management is essential for maintaining business continuity, sustaining daily operations, and improving profitability, especially for micro and small enterprises with limited financial resources. The program focused on three key components of working capital: inventory control, cash flow optimization, and the management of accounts receivable and payable. Through socialization activities, mentoring, and the establishment of a task force, participants were introduced to practical approaches such as the First In, First Out (FIFO) method, Just in Time (JIT) purchasing, negotiation strategies with suppliers, and the adoption of basic financial technology tools, including point-of-sale systems and simple accounting applications. The results demonstrate an increased understanding among vendors regarding cost efficiency, inventory planning, and the importance of disciplined financial recording. Vendors also reported improvements in cash flow stability, reduced operational waste, and better allocation of resources for both short-term and long-term needs. Furthermore, the program strengthened their ability to maintain product quality and price competitiveness, ultimately enhancing business sustainability. Overall, this activity provided significant benefits by equipping vendors with practical skills and strategies to manage working capital more effectively and to improve their resilience in a highly competitive market.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Mikrohidro (PLTMH) Desa Tepal, Kabupaten Sumbawa, yang menggunakan turbin crossflow, khususnya pada kondisi beban puncak. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif melalui pengukuran langsung parameter hidrolik dan elektrikal, meliputi debit air, tinggi jatuh efektif, tegangan, arus, frekuensi, serta kondisi beban generator tiga fasa. Daya teoritis dihitung berdasarkan parameter hidrolik dan efisiensi komponen sistem, sedangkan daya aktual ditentukan dari hasil pengukuran tegangan dan arus generator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada debit aktual sebesar 0,03 m³/detik diperoleh daya listrik teoritis generator sebesar 5,73 kW, sementara hasil pengukuran lapangan menunjukkan daya listrik aktual mencapai 19,1 kW pada kondisi beban puncak. Ketidaksesuaian yang signifikan antara daya teoritis dan daya aktual ini mengindikasikan adanya keterbatasan dalam estimasi debit serta pengaruh dominan karakteristik beban, ketidakseimbangan arus antar fasa, dan sistem kendali beban terhadap kinerja pembangkit. Jika dibandingkan dengan potensi daya berdasarkan debit desain turbin, PLTMH Desa Tepal belum beroperasi pada kondisi optimal. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan dasar evaluasi untuk perbaikan sistem kendali dan pengelolaan beban PLTMH agar operasi pembangkit lebih efisien dan andal.   This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Micro Hydropower Plant (MHP) in Tepal Village, Sumbawa Regency, which utilizes a crossflow turbine, particularly under peak load conditions. The research method employs a quantitative descriptive approach through direct measurements of hydraulic and electrical parameters, including water discharge, effective head, voltage, current, frequency, and the load conditions of a three-phase generator. The theoretical power is calculated based on hydraulic parameters and system component efficiencies, while the actual power is determined from measured generator voltage and current. The results show that at an actual discharge of 0.03 m³/s, the theoretical electrical power of the generator is 5.73 kW, whereas field measurements indicate that the actual electrical power reaches 19.1 kW under peak load conditions. The significant discrepancy between theoretical and actual power indicates limitations in discharge estimation as well as the dominant influence of load characteristics, phase current imbalance, and the load control system on plant performance. When compared to the power potential based on the turbine design discharge, the Tepal Village MHP has not yet been operating under optimal conditions. These findings provide a basis for evaluating improvements in the load control system and load management to ensure more efficient and reliable plant operation.
