Abstract

Youth unemployment remains a pressing issue in Indonesia, largely due to limited formal job opportunities and the insufficient readiness of graduates to adapt to an increasingly dynamic labor market. This condition calls for an alternative solution through the promotion of entrepreneurship, not merely as a means of economic gain but as a pathway toward value, meaning, and sustainable living. This Community Service Program aimed to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset rooted in self-reflection and life purpose awareness by strengthening participants’ critical thinking, self-confidence, responsibility, and understanding of the ikigai concept, which covers achieving balance among what one loves, is good at, what society needs, and what can provide income. The program was implemented through a participatory approach involving self-reflection, group discussions, simple business simulations, and interactive lectures. The results revealed strong enthusiasm and engagement from participants, along with improvements in logical reasoning, risk-taking ability, and task discipline. Moreover, the integration of ikigai helped participants discover business directions aligned with their passions and personal values, resulting in more meaningful and sustainable ventures. Overall, this program successfully fostered awareness that entrepreneurship is not merely a solution to unemployment but a way to create a productive, purposeful, and socially valuable life.  Keywords: character development, entrepreneurial mindset, ikigai, unemployment, youth entrepreneurship. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of board member diversity and earnings quality on the future performance of hotel companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2021–2023 period. Board diversity is measured by nationality, gender, and expertise; earnings quality is measured by Performance-Adjusted Discretionary Accruals (ADA); and future performance is measured by Return on Assets in the following year. This is a quantitative study using partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that board nationality diversity does not significantly affect future performance, indicating that the presence of foreign board members does not fully benefit future performance. Conversely, gender and expertise diversity have a positive and significant effect on future performance. These findings confirm that inclusive representation and professional competence can drive improved company future performance. Earnings quality has a negative effect on future performance. These findings emphasize that transparency and prudence in financial reporting need to be balanced with a more proactive business strategy to drive long-term growth.

Abstract

Indonesia's media and entertainment industry has experienced significant growth; however, PT. MNC Sky Vision Tbk faced challenges due to declining subscribers from 2019 to 2023. This led to a decrease in revenue and an increase in net losses. This study evaluates the company's financial performance using financial ratio analysis, horizontal and vertical analysis, and cash flow analysis based on financial statements and annual reports. The findings indicate a downward trend in financial performance, driven by declining sales without a proportional reduction in the cost of revenue, with fixed asset depreciation being the largest expense. Most financial ratios show deterioration and reduced cash inflows from operating activities have heightened the company’s liquidity risk. To address these issues, the company should focus on increasing sales, improving accounts receivable collection, and optimizing fixed asset management to enhance financial stability and ensure long-term business sustainability.

This community service program, targeted at elementary school teachers and students, aims to provide fundamental financial knowledge and raise awareness about the importance of developing "good habits" at the individual and family levels from an early age. The program involved 20 teachers and 67 students. Teachers received training using the Financial Life Skills (FLS) module developed by USAID, while students participated in simulations through the Petualangan Anak Pintar (Smart Kids’ Adventure) board game. Evaluation results from focus group discussions (FGDs) and surveys revealed that all participants (100%) found the material relevant to their needs, beneficial, and easy to follow. The program significantly enhanced participants' confidence and critical thinking skills in making financial decisions, such as budgeting, managing finances, and planning savings. Furthermore, teachers identified the potential to integrate FLS materials into the elementary school curriculum. The use of the PAP board game proved to be an engaging and effective method for introducing financial literacy to students. Nevertheless, there remains a need for material innovation tailored to the cognitive abilities of students in Grades IV, V, and VI.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between formal education and age and the level of financial literacy among school teachers, especially in Bandung City. This study also aimed to investigate the effect of financial literacy to financial management. The study was done at JKN Senior High School (SHS) in Bandung City, with the JKN teachers as the sample. JKN SHS was chosen for several reasons, such as its alignment with the phenomenon, and the teachers in JKN SHS have diverse formal educational backgrounds and age ranges. The hypothesis testing result showed that formal education positively affects financial literacy. However, age was not shown to influence financial literacy. Thus, financial literacy positively impacts personal financial management. This outcome established an evidence-supported link to the socio-economic issue, namely the increase in urban poverty in Indonesia. In Bandung, teachers facing the demands of a consumer-driven urban life on limited income find that high financial literacy is not just advantageous but essential for developing financial resilience and preventing poverty. The observation empirically validates the claim that strong financial literacy can safeguard individuals against a decrease in their quality of life and enhance their readiness for economic emergencies and crises.
