Abstract

Sea urchin (Echinometra mathaei) is a potential marine resourches that had not been explored widely. It has flavonoid, triterpenoid, alkaloid, saponin compound with high antioxidant activity. Antioxidant activity and flavonoid compound were potentially correlated with analgesic activity. This study aimed to examine e the potential of Echinometra mathaei as an analgesic in white male mice that were induced by acetic acid to produce peripheral pain in vivo (streatching in mice) with writhing test method. The amount of stretching was observed for 1 hour after administration of ethanol extract of Echinometra mathaei orally. Balb/c white mice which devided into 6 groups randomlly, as negative control group, a group that induced acetic acid 1%, Asetosal group with dose of 65 mg/kgBW, and Echinometra Mathaei groups with the dose of 100 mg/kgBW, 200 mg/kgBW, and 400 mg/kgBW. The results of this study showed that all dosage of Echinometra mathaei decrease the peripheral compared to negative control (P,0.05). The percentage inhibition of pain at 200 mg/kgBW (72.59%) was the highest among other doses was significant different from asetosal group (52.53%). This research concluded that Echinometra mathaei has the analgesic activity to inhibit peripheral pain . Keywords: Echinometra mathaei, ethanol extract, analgesic, mice, writhing test

Abstract

Echinometra mathaei sea urchins are known to contain chemical compounds that can be used to overcome health problems, one of which has antioxidant activity. Some previous studies have explained the benefits of sea urchins but to ensure the quality assurance of sea urchins extracts, efforts should be made to determine the quality standards of sea urchins extract. This study aims to standardize specific parameters and non-specific parameters on Echinometra mathaei sea urchins extract to ensure the quality of 96% ethanol extract. Samples were obtained from Rongkang Beach, Kwanyar District, Bangkalan District, Madura which were then extracted using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. The results of the study for specific parameters showed that organoleptically and macroscopically the extracts were thick, blackish brown in color and characteristic of sea urchins; levels of dissolved compounds in ethanol of 78.37%; levels of dissolved compounds in water of 93.09%; and chemical content tests showed that the extract contained steroid compounds, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids and terpenoids. Determination of non-specific parameters showed that Echinometra mathaei sea urchin extract had a drying shrinkage of 3.03%; specific gravity of 0.8411 g/mL; water content of 5.32%; Pb heavy metal contamination was 7.28 mg/kg, Cd was <0.0024 mg/kg, Hg was <0.0002 mg / kg, Mg was 347.83 mg / kg; microbial contamination of <10 colonies / mL; and yeast mold contamination of <10 colonies/mL. The conclusion is Echinometra mathaei sea urchin extract has the potential to be developed into a medicinal preparation. Abstract

Abstract : Sea urchin (Echinometra mathaei) contains a compound of Echinochrome A, which is a polyhydroxy naphthoquinone that is known to be potential antioxidant. The antioxidant effect correlated with the antidiabetic activity that associated with oxidative stress conditions. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of 70% Ethanol Extract of sea urchin (Echinometra mathaei) on blood glucose levels in alloxan induced rats. This research was an experimental study using 30 male white rats, divided into 6 groups, i.e the negative control group (normal rat were only given CMC Na 0,5%), Positive control group (hyperglycemic rats were only treated with CMC Na 0,5%), metformin group as a refference standard group (hyperglycemic rats that treated with metformin) and the treatment group (hyperglycemic rats were treated with ethanol extract 70% of Echinometra mathaei dose of 100 mg/kgBW, 200 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW). Alloxan monohidrat 120 mg/KgBW was used as diabetogen agent. The parameters examined in this study were blood glucose levels of rats after 7 days of treatment. The observational data were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA (P < 0.05) and continued with LSD. The results of this study showed that all doses of ethanol extract significantly reduced blood glucose levels in rats compared to the control group. The most effective dose in reducing blood glucose levels and compared to metformin was 400 mg / kgBW. Key word: alloxan induced, Echinometra mathaei, ethanol 70%, hiperglycemia, marine product.

Abstract

Inflamasi merupakan proses yang terjadi setelah adanya trauma yang disebabkan oleh mikrobiologi, zat kimia atau fisik. Salah satu obat antiinflamasi yang beredar dipasaran dan banyak diresepkan yaitu natrium diklofenak. Lebih dari 20 persen pasien mengalami perdarahan gastrointestinal dan ulserasi lambung yang merupakan efek samping dari NSAID. Minyak ikan salmon dapat dengan mudah diperoleh dari hasil laut yang beragam dan melimpah. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis aktivitas antiinflamasi akut minyak ikan salmon dengan alat pletismometer air raksa. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara in vivo yang diujikan pada tikus putih jantan galur Wistar (Rattus norvegicus L.). Efek antiinflamasi dilihat dari perhitungan volume edema kaki tikus dilakukan sebelum dan 30 menit sesudah pemberian induksi karagenin 1 persen secara subplantar. Dua puluh empat ekor tikus dibagi secara acak menjadi enam kelompok uji yaitu kelompok kontrol, negatif, ositif, dan kelompok uji (dosis 40mg/kg BB, 50mg/kg BB dan 60mg/kg BB) secara oral. Hasil perhitungan persen hambatan inflamasi kontrol positif (Emulsi natrium diklofenak Dosis 5mg/kg BB), dan kelompok minyak ikan salmon (Dosis 40mg/kg BB, 50mg/kg BB dan 60 mg/kgBB) sebesar 49,97 persen ; 22,22 persen; 33,28 persen dan 44,35 persen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai ED50 minyak ikan salmon sebesar 65.3280 mg/kgBB. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa minyak ikan salmon mempunyai aktivitas antiinflamasi pada sampel tikus jantan (Rattus norvegicus L.).

Abstract

Diperlukan pengetahuan yang baik agar penggunaan vitamin dan multivitamin sebagai salah satu upaya untuk mencegah penularan COVID-19 dapat mendapatkan manfaat dan meminimalkan adanya resiko efek samping. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan multivitamin pada masa pandemi COVID-19. Penelitian dilakukan secara deskriptif cross-sectional dengan teknik pengambilan sampel accidental sampling di kecamatan Driyorejo, Gresik. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan sebanyak 74 responden yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi. Penelitian ini didominasi oleh usia 18-24 tahun (85,14%). Vitamin C merupakan vitamin yang paling banyak digunakan oleh responden di masa pandemi COVID-19 (50%). Dari penelitian ini juga diketahui bahwa sebanyak 27,03% responden mendapatkan sumber informasi tentang penggunaan multivitamin/vitamin dengan tepat yaitu pada Apotek/AA/Apoteker. Serta sebanyak (81,08%) responden memperoleh multivitamin/vitamin dengan tepat yaitu di Apotek. Tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat di kecamatan Driyorejo terhadap penggunaan multivitamin pada masa pandemi COVID-19 dikategorikan menjadi tiga yaitu tingkat pengetahuan baik (60,81%), cukup (33,78%), dan kurang (5,41%). Pengujian hubungan antara penggunaan` multivitamin/vitamin dengan tingkat pengetahuan menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap penggunaanmultivitamin/vitamin di kecamatan Driyorejo mayoritas termasuk dalam kategori baik.

Abstract

Sea urchin (Echinometra mathaei) is one of the marine biota that contains high flavonoid and phenolic compounds that are potent as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. This study aimed to measure the anti-inflammatory activity of the 70% ethanol extract of sea urchins in male white rats induced by carrageenan. Anti-inflammatory activity test using 5 groups of rats selected randomly, each group consists of 5 rats. Negative control group, positive control group, and 3 groups of extracts (doses of 100, 200, and 400mg/kgBW). Each group was induced using 1% carrageenan subplantarly and the volume of edema was measured using a mercury plethysmometer every 30 minutes for 3 hours. The data were statistically analyzed using one-way Anova. The results showed that the percentage of inflammatory inhibition in the positive control group, and the Echinometra mathaei ethanol extract group (dose of 100, 200, and 400 mg/KgBW) showed a significant difference (P0.05) with the negative control group with a percentage value of Inflammation inhibition was 61.11%, 85.19%, 85.19%, and 74.07%, respectively. The administration of sea urchin ethanol extract at all doses had a higher percentage of anti-inflammatory than diclofenac sodium, but increasing the extract dose did not significant increase inflammatory inhibition. This research concluded that 70% ethanol extract of Echinometra mathaei at doses of 100, 200, 400 mg/KgBW has strong anti-inflammatory activity potential.

Abstract

Authentication of Strychnos ligustrina Bl. had been performed at molecular level (DNA) with Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) method, based on the amplification of random DNA fragments by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) with a single arbitrary primer. The aim of this research was obtaining similar banding patterns between DNA of plant Strychnos ligustrina Bl. and DNA of its lignum on local market. Strychnos ligustrina Bl. was determined by UPT Balai Konservasi Tumbuhan Kebun Raya Purwodadi and plants sold as Strychnos ligustrina Bl. were collected as lignum from traditional market at Wonokromo, Rungkut, Genteng, Benowo dan Pabean. DNA from these plants were extracted by modified Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) method and amplified by RAPD method. Amplification had been performed by primer OPO-4 had shown banding patterns on the gel electrophoresis which banding patterns were shown by Strychnos ligustrina Bl. and plants sold as Strychnos ligustrina Bl. on Benowo. Based on this early result, we assume that plants sold as Strychnos ligustrina Bl. on Benowo has closely genetic relationship with Strychnos ligustrina Bl.

Abstract

Pharmacy is a facility for pharmaceutical services conducted by pharmacists. One of pharmaceuticalservices performed at a pharmacy is swamedication services. The purpose of this study was to determine thelevel of satisfaction of swamedication patients in drug information services in several pharmacies in the EastSurabaya Coastal Area, based on fi ve dimensions of service quality, namely reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy and tangibles. This cross sectional study using a validated questionnaire instrument. The research sample is swamedication patients who meet the inclusion criteria. Swamedication patients were selected nonrandomly by consecutive sampling method. Data retrieval was carried out in October-December 2018. Data from the fi ve dimensions of service quality were analyzed by the SERVQUAL method. There were 100 patients who performed swamedication services that met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that the average gap between expectation and performance is -0.36 with the largest gap value indicated on the reliability dimension of -0.51. At overall satisfaction level, the results are 89%. The conclusion is that the level of expectations of swamedication patients is higher than the level of performance of drug information services provided by the pharmacy with a good level of patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Minyak ikan merupakan sumber EPA dan DHA yang berasal dari sumber daya laut. Kapsul minyak ikan merupakan salah satu nutraseutikal untuk memenuhi kebutuhan omega-3 dan omega-6. Penelitian telah dilakukan menggunakan minyak ikan salmon yang mengandung EPA dan DHA. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan aktivitas analgesik pada tikus putih jantan (Mus musculus) strain BALB/c. Sejumlah 25 ekor tikus putih jantan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor tikus putih jantan. Kelompok kontrol negatif diberi kombinasi emulsi Tween 80 dan Span 80, kelompok kontrol positif diberi aspirin, dan kelompok perlakuan diberi emulsi minyak ikan salmon dengan dosis 20, 30, dan 40 mg/kg BB. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah writhing test dengan menginduksi tikus putih jantan dengan asam asetat 0,6%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa emulsi minyak ikan salmon dengan dosis 20, 30, dan 40 mg/kg BB memiliki persentase hambatan nyeri masing-masing sebesar 29,44; 42,64; dan 52,59%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa emulsi minyak ikan salmon memiliki aktivitas analgesik.

Abstract

Daun Angsana memiliki khasiat sebagai antidiabetes, akan tetapi pemberian melalui rute per oral akan menyebabkan epikatekin sebagai senyawa aktif mengalami hidrolisis dalam suasana asam di lambung. Sebagai rute alternatif adalah pemberian secara transdermal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efek hipoglikemik dan uji hipersensitivitas sediaan transdermal ekstrak etanol daun Angsana. Komposisi patch transdermal yang digunakan adalah HPMC, gliserol, asam oleat dan ekstrak daun Angsana masing-masing dengan dosis 19,89 mg/cm2 dan 39,78 mg/cm2. Hewan yang digunakan pada uji efek hipoglikemik adalah tikus putih jantan galur wistar yang diinduksi aloksan monohidrat 150 mg/kgBB secara intramuscular (i.m.). Tikus diukur kadar glukosa darahnya setelah 6 jam pemberian patch transdermal pada hari ke-2 sampai dengan hari ke-7. Sedangkan hewan coba untuk uji hipersensitivitas adalah marmut jantan. Sensitisasi marmut dilakukan dengan cara perlukaan dan pemberian suspensi Staphylococcus aureus kemudian dibiarkan kembali selama 48 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian ekstrak daun Pterocarpus indicus Willd. dalam dosis 35,36 mg/cm2 dan 70,72 mg/cm2 secara transdermal dengan enhancer asam oleat, dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah pada tikus yang dibuat hiperglikemik. Aplikasi sediaan patch transdermal daun Angsana dosis 2,88 mg/cm2 dan 5,77 mg/cm2 tidak menyebabkan hipersensitivitas terhadap kulit marmut yang telah disensitisasi dalam perlakuan selama 14 hari.
