Abstract

This research aims to prove the content validity of a numeracy literacy instrument based on computational thinking skills using Aiken's method. There are five questions divided into nine parts, all of which focus on the material “Algebraic Forms”, and have been validated by five validators from two leading universities. The data analysis technique applied is the Aiken's method, which is used to assess the extent to which this instrument meets the validity criteria. The results of the analysis show that most of the questions in the instrument received good validity scores, with an average validity of 0.81. This score indicates that this instrument is relevant and effective for measuring students' abilities in numeracy literacy and computational thinking. Apart from that, input from validators regarding the use of simpler language for grade 8 students is very valuable and is expected to improve students' understanding of the questions given. It is hoped that these results can contribute to the development of higher quality educational evaluation instruments, as well as being the basis for further research involving instrument testing to prove construct validity and reliability in the context of mathematics learning

Abstract

This study explores the influence of principal leadership, organizational culture, and teacher commitment on teacher performance in State Senior High Schools in West Muna Regency. Effective leadership and organizational factors are critical to improving teacher performance, a key driver of educational quality. The study involved 193 teachers selected through appropriate sampling techniques. Data were collected using a questionnaire designed to measure the variables of principal leadership, organizational culture, teacher commitment, and teacher performance. Descriptive statistics, simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted using SPSS version 26. The results indicated that principal leadership had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, contributing 4.6%. Organizational culture contributed 3%, and teacher commitment had the highest individual impact at 5.5%. When analyzed collectively through multiple linear regression, the three variables accounted for a total contribution of 11.8% to teacher performance. These findings highlight the importance of fostering effective leadership, a strong organizational culture, and teacher commitment to enhance educational outcomes. Principal leadership and organizational culture create an environment conducive to motivation and collaboration, while teacher commitment directly affects their engagement and effectiveness. The study confirms that principal leadership, organizational culture, and teacher commitment are significant determinants of teacher performance. These factors should be prioritized in educational strategies to improve the quality of teaching in high schools. Further research is recommended to explore other contributing factors and their interplay in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Mathematics is an abstract theory, which causes many students to experience difficulties in learning it, leading to the emergence of math anxiety. This math anxiety affects students' attitudes and performance in mathematics. To reduce this issue, it is necessary to design learning that is enjoyable and motivating for students in mathematics education. Learning that utilizes digital technology provides a solution to reduce math anxiety. Students feel happy learning with interactive multimedia. Through multimedia, they can apply and solve problems using the theories they have learned. The use of technology in mathematics learning helps students achieve better results, enhances interaction and participation in learning, and offers significant opportunities to improve their learning experience.

Abstract

Abstract

Game-Based Learning (GBL) is an innovative learning approach that integrates game elements into the learning process to increase student motivation, active participation, and learning outcomes. Amidst the acceleration of digital transformation, the application of GBL in Asian countries shows diverse developments, but has not been fully mapped scientifically. The main issues raised in this study are how publication trends, collaboration patterns, and thematic focuses of GBL research have developed in the context of education in Asia during 2010–2025. The research questions include: (1) to what extent is the productivity of GBL publications in the Asian region; (2) how is the structure of collaboration between researchers and institutions; and (3) what topics are the dominant focus and future research directions. This study uses a bibliometric approach with the PRISMA method and visualization using VOSviewer based on Scopus data. A total of 170 documents selected from five countries Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, and India-were analyzed to examine trends, distribution, and keyword co-occurrence. The results show that Indonesia and Hong Kong are the most productive countries, with significant contributions from The Education University of Hong Kong and Malang State University. Cluster analysis identified four main focuses: (1) the development of game-based learning technologies and concepts; (2) learning systems and participants; (3) psychological and cognitive aspects; and (4) specific methodologies and contexts such as virtual reality and language learning. The latest findings highlight a shift in research direction towards strengthening critical thinking, educational technology, and contrastive learning, which signals the evolution of GBL from a mere learning medium to a comprehensive strategy for shaping 21st-century skills. This research makes an important contribution to mapping the development of GBL in Asia and provides a basis for future technology-based education policies.

Abstract

This research investigates the integration of English language instruction into Nigerian vocational artisan training programs to enhance communicative competence, professional performance, and economic inclusion among tradespeople. Grounded in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) theory and workplace literacy frameworks, the study employed a mixed-methods research design, combining structured surveys with semi-structured interviews. A total of 63 artisans across five trades—carpentry, tailoring, welding, automotive repair, and electrical installation—participated in the study conducted in Kogi State, Nigeria. Quantitative findings revealed critically low English proficiency levels, with only 12.4% of respondents demonstrating high proficiency in reading technical documents and 10.0% in writing estimates and invoices. Communication-related challenges occurred frequently in workplace contexts, with misunderstanding client requests (M = 3.31) and inability to interpret safety instructions (M = 3.25) emerging as the most prevalent issues. Qualitative data identified specific trade-based English needs, including reading technical manuals, writing job quotations, using digital marketing platforms, and understanding safety regulations. Based on these findings, the study proposes a Trade-Specific English Curriculum (TSEC) framework designed to integrate task-based language instruction with authentic workplace demands through five interconnected components: Needs Analysis, Task-Based Modules, Authentic Materials, Collaborative Learning, and Performance-Based Assessment. The study concludes that language integration within vocational programs represents both a pedagogical and economic imperative, with implications for workforce competitiveness, occupational safety, and formal economic participation. The proposed framework offers a replicable model for vocational education reform aligned with Nigeria’s sustainable development objectives.
