Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mahasiswa Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama NTB dan Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram, khususnya dalam persiapan menghadapi tes TOEFL prediksi. Latar belakang kegiatan ini adalah rendahnya skor TOEFL prediksi mahasiswa yang belum memenuhi standar kelulusan. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode Blended Learning yang menggabungkan pembelajaran online dan offline, meliputi kelas persiapan reading, listening, dan tata bahasa, serta simulasi tes TOEFL prediksi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam skor TOEFL prediksi peserta. Materi pelatihan yang komprehensif, simulasi tes, dan umpan balik individual terbukti efektif dalam mempersiapkan mahasiswa menghadapi tes TOEFL. Kegiatan ini juga menggarisbawahi pentingnya kolaborasi antara Universitas Mataram, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama NTB, dan Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram dalam menciptakan ekosistem pendidikan yang mendukung peningkatan kompetensi bahasa Inggris mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif yang terukur pada peningkatan skor TOEFL peserta, pemahaman yang lebih baik terhadap tes TOEFL, serta peningkatan kepercayaan diri dan motivasi mahasiswa dalam menghadapi tantangan berbahasa Inggris di dunia akademis dan profesional. Saran untuk keberlanjutan program ini mencakup pengembangan materi pelatihan yang lebih mendalam, peningkatan keterlibatan mitra, pemantauan dan evaluasi berkala, serta penyediaan sumber daya tambahan untuk mendukung proses belajar peserta.

Abstract

Pendidikan lingkungan hidup memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk karakter siswa yang peduli terhadap alam. Artikel ini membahas implementasi kegiatan pendampingan pemberian nama ilmiah pada tumbuhan di lingkungan SMPN 17 Mataram sebagai media pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan. Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemanfaatan tumbuhan sekolah sebagai sumber belajar, khususnya dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA). Metode yang digunakan meliputi analisis masalah, observasi, pendataan tanaman, identifikasi nama ilmiah melalui referensi ilmiah, pelabelan tanaman, serta refleksi siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 20 jenis pohon berhasil diidentifikasi dan dilabeli, seperti Mangifera indica dan Swietenia macrophylla. Proses ini meningkatkan literasi sains, keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan kesadaran ekologis siswa. Pemasangan label tanaman tidak hanya memperkaya sumber belajar kontekstual, tetapi juga mendukung pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis proyek dalam Kurikulum Merdeka. Kegiatan ini dinilai efektif dan berkelanjutan dalam membentuk karakter siswa yang cinta lingkungan, serta berpotensi menjadi program unggulan sekolah berbasis konservasi dan pendidikan ekologis.

Abstract

Basic Mandarin Training for Tourism for Lombok Tourism Polytechnic students was held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. This community service program, organized by University of Mataram's Language Academic Support Unit, aimed to introduce Mandarin to students. Participants were students who would be undertaking internships in the hotel industry in Taiwan. The training consisted of two stages: program socialization and the training sessions themselves. The material provided covered Mandarin phonetic basics, Hanzi character writing, and simulation-based conversation practice. Participants learned through role-playing activities in tourism scenarios, such as hotel room bookings and restaurant services. Despite the program's limited duration, participants showed high enthusiasm and actively participated. They were also introduced to using the Pleco application as a tool to support independent learning. Evaluation results indicated that this program was quite effective in providing a basic understanding of Mandarin for Lombok Tourism Polytechnic students, though independent practice in pronunciation is highly needed. Therefore, after the training, participants were advised to integrate applications and AI to support their self-study efforts. With improved Mandarin skills, students are expected to compete in the global tourism industry and provide higher-quality services to Chinese tourists.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims at enhancing the English communication skills of tourism practitioners in Timbanuh Village, Pringgasela, East Lombok. The urgency lies in the need for local tourism practitioners to adapt to the global market, which emphasizes sustainability and the competitiveness of local destinations. The PKM also serves to expand productive and inclusive employment opportunities while supporting the village's economic sustainability through more professional tourism management. The PKM was designed as English for Tourism training based on local resources and wisdom. The training was conducted in four phases: vocabulary and phrases, expressions related to English for Tourism, interactive exercises, and intercultural learning. The activities were delivered through a learning model that integrates theory and practice, alongside interactive discussions. The results of this PKM indicate an improvement in participants’ English proficiency within the context of tourism.

Abstract

This community service was conducted to assist the English teachers at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Model Mataram (SDNMM) adapt and adopt the Common European Framework (CEFR) for Languages into the English Curriculum of the school. The activity involved all English teachers at the school (11 teachers) and the assistance was conducted for one week. The adaptation and adoption processes were completed in four stages: (1) mapping out the core competencies of the CEFR for English primary and the core competences of the SDNMM English curriculum, (2) aligning the core competences of English in the school curriculum, (3) modifying the SDNMM English Curriculum. Some factors which inform the reducement and addition of the competences include (1) the students’ existing competencies, (2) teachers’ teaching competencies, (3) the available reseources at the school, and (4) the school vision and mission.
