Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of project-based learning supported by comic media on students' chemical science process skills in the experimental class XI MIPA at SMAN 1 Lembar, focusing on reaction rate material. The measured science process skills include observing, hypothesizing, planning experiments, using tools and materials, classifying, and communicating. Project-based learning is a method that emphasizes problem-centred instruction, problem-solving, decision-making, and collaborative opportunities for students. This quasi-experimental research employed a pretest-posttest control group design. From a population of 130 students, 62 samples were selected using a one-stage cluster sampling technique and divided into an experimental group (XI MIPA 1) and a control group (XI MIPA 2). Data analysis using N-Gain calculations revealed that the experimental class experienced a medium-level improvement (0.335), significantly higher than the control class's low-level improvement (0.011). Furthermore, the statistical analysis showed that tcount (3.15) exceeded ttable (1.671) at a 5% significance level, indicating that the use of project-based learning supported by comic media had a significant influence. The study concluded that while there was no significant difference between the pretest and posttest results of the two classes, project-based learning with comic media significantly enhanced the chemical science process skills of students in the experimental class compared to those in the control class, particularly for reaction rate material.

Abstract

This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach aimed at describing the scientific literacy abilities of prospective chemistry teacher students on reaction rate. This research involved 50 students as samples with a sampling technique using purposive sampling. The data collection technique uses a test instrument similar to PISA based on scientific literacy which is analyzed using descriptive statistics. From there validator the instrument of validity obtained was 0.803 for the content aspect and 0.747 for the language aspect and the reliability score obtained was 0.65 with high information. Based on the research results obtained, each aspect of scientific literacy received a low category. The results of this research indicate that the science literacy skill of the pre-service chemistry teacher students still need to be improved so that each indicator reaches sufficient numbers and overall scientific literacy abilities become better. Students' science literacy skill were obtained from four aspects of science literacy skill, including the knowledge aspect (34.86%), the context aspect (68.86%), the competency aspect (52.26%), and the attitude aspect (75.1%) so that it was obtained the average science literacy skill of the pre-service chemistry teacher students in the overall reaction rate is 57.78% in the low category.

Abstract

penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Tindakan kelas untuk memperbaiki kondisi pembelajaran Kimia Bahan Makanan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis kasus. Melalui kasus diharapkan mahasiswa dapat mengalami peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi dan inisiatif belajar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus dengan indikator meliputi kemampuan argumentasi dan inisiatif belajar. Kemampuan argumentasi daan inisitatif belajar yang digunakan adalah > 60% dengan kategori tinggi. Instrumen kemampuan argumentasi terdiri atas tiga indicator yaitu menentukan klaim, memberikan bukti dan memberikan pembenaran. Inisiatif belajar menggunakan kuesioner dengan lima pernyataan. Data yang diperoleh dihitung dan diinterpolisasikan pada table kategorisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi dan inisiatif belajar sesuai indicator yang ditetapkan pada siklus 3. Skor tertinggi pada indicator menentukan klaim dan skor terendah pada memberikan pembenaran dari kemampuan argumentasi dari ketiga siklus. Inisiatif belajar tertinggi pada pernyataan inisiatif menyampaikan argumentasi dan skor terendah pada kesempatan mencari waktu lebih jika tidak memahami kasus yang diberikan. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi pada penerapan pembelajaran berbasis kasus untuk melatih kemampuan argumentasi mahasiswa. Namun disarankan sebelum penerapan pembelajaran berbasis kasus diharapkan pengajar mereview kembali konsep prasayarat yang terhubung dengan kasus yang dibahas sehingga mahasiswa dapat lebih mudah mencari pembenaran dari klaim dan bukti yang ditemukan

Abstract

This research aims to determine the feasibility of product development for colloid-based chemistry teaching materials and problem-based learning integrated with Sasambo ethnochemistry to increase students' chemical literacy. This research is part of a development research procedure that adopts the 4-D model, with stages to define, design, develop, and disseminate. Test the suitability of teaching materials using a questionnaire to test content validity and construct validity. And reliability. The content and construct validity analysis technique uses the V index, while the reliability of teaching materials uses the kappa moment coefficient (K). The content and construct validity analysis results showed that the criteria were very valid, with a V index of 91.36% and 90.7%. The reliability analysis results of teaching materials obtained a kappa moment coefficient (K) of 0.88 with a very high reliability category. Based on the validity and reliability values, it is concluded that colloid-based chemistry teaching materials and problem-based learning Sasambo's integrated ethnochemistry are very suitable for learning.

Abstract

Pasaman District is the largest corn producer in West Sumatra Province, one of the villages is Lingkuang Aua Bandarajo, where the majority of the population work as corn farmers. This amount is directly proportional to the amount of corn cob waste produced from agricultural activities. Based on the results of observations and interviews with local communities, it is known that the processing of corn cob waste has not been carried out optimally, because people tend to burn the corn cobs, which has an impact on environmental pollution. One solution that can be provided is to hold training on processing corn cob waste into charcoal briquettes. This PKM activity was carried out offline with 3 sessions, namely a session presenting material regarding business opportunities and how to make corn cob briquettes, practice accompanied by a team and independent practice. Through this PKM activity, it is known that there has been an increase in knowledge about corn cob briquettes by the youth of the village of Aua Bandarajo. The corn cob briquettes produced can be a source of renewable fuel and can also improve the economy of local communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for further development of the CHEM-RILW model, an extension of the previously developed ILW model. The respondents involved in this study included two lecturers (N = 2) and forty-seven chemistry students (N = 47). Data was collected using observation sheets, questionnaires, critical thinking tests, and rubrics for argumentation and communication skills. The results indicated that the implementation of the learning process successfully integrated investigative activities carried out in the laboratory. This integration demonstrated that the pre-laboratory, laboratory, and post-laboratory stages were effectively implemented. However, the previous model did not sufficiently enhance students' interpretation and presentation skills. Additionally, the human element was not adequately emphasized, which limited the development of students' argumentation skills. Analysis of the lecturer questionnaire revealed a need to improve the learning model by incorporating more real-world applications of theory. Based on these findings, it is clear that further development of the ILW model is necessary. The CHEM-RILW model, as an enhancement, introduces real-world aspects and emphasizes the human element in learning, highlighting the relevance of community science in the context of chemistry concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning difficulties of students that need to be overcome in understanding the concept of reaction rate chemistry in class XI science SMA Negeri 1 Labuapi. The approach used is a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this study are all students of class XI science of SMA Negeri 1 Labuapi, with samples selected using the nonprobability sampling method of saturation sampling. Data collection was carried out through a closed questionnaire on a likert scale of 5 and interviews. Data interpretation refers to five categories of learning difficulties, namely very high, high, moderately high, low, and very low, which are determined based on simple percentages and tables. The results of the data analysis showed that: 1) Students who experienced difficulties with internal factors included aspects of student ability 38.7%, student interest 37.5%, understanding of reaction rate material concepts 30%, student motivation 27.5%, included in the low category while external factors with aspects of approach/learning model 35%, teaching resources 23% were in the low category, and teachers 17%, class conditions 15% were in the very low category 2) Students' learning difficulties in understanding the concept of reaction rate chemistry that need to be considered are internal factors of student ability indicators (38.75%) and external factors in learning approaches/model indicators (35%).

Abstract

Pendidikan lingkungan hidup memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk karakter siswa yang peduli terhadap alam. Artikel ini membahas implementasi kegiatan pendampingan pemberian nama ilmiah pada tumbuhan di lingkungan SMPN 17 Mataram sebagai media pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan. Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemanfaatan tumbuhan sekolah sebagai sumber belajar, khususnya dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA). Metode yang digunakan meliputi analisis masalah, observasi, pendataan tanaman, identifikasi nama ilmiah melalui referensi ilmiah, pelabelan tanaman, serta refleksi siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 20 jenis pohon berhasil diidentifikasi dan dilabeli, seperti Mangifera indica dan Swietenia macrophylla. Proses ini meningkatkan literasi sains, keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan kesadaran ekologis siswa. Pemasangan label tanaman tidak hanya memperkaya sumber belajar kontekstual, tetapi juga mendukung pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis proyek dalam Kurikulum Merdeka. Kegiatan ini dinilai efektif dan berkelanjutan dalam membentuk karakter siswa yang cinta lingkungan, serta berpotensi menjadi program unggulan sekolah berbasis konservasi dan pendidikan ekologis.

Abstract

Program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) memberikan kesempatan bagi mahasiswa untuk terlibat langsung dalam dunia pendidikan melalui kegiatan asistensi mengajar. Salah satu implementasinya adalah melatih jiwa wirausaha siswa dengan memanfaatkan limbah organik menjadi produk bernilai ekonomis. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melatih jiwa wirausaha siswa melalui praktik pemanfaatan limbah organik di MAN 2 Mataram. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan adalah ceramah, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung. Kegiatan diawali dengan edukasi tentang limbah organik dan dilanjutkan dengan perencanaan pembuatan produk, serta praktik pengolahan limbah bonggol jagung menjadi camilan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa terlihat antusias dan mampu mempraktikkan proses pengolahan limbah dengan baik, serta menunjukkan kreativitas dalam menghasilkan produk. Program ini tidak hanya memberikan keterampilan teknis tetapi juga membentuk pola pikir kewirausahaan yang berwawasan lingkungan pada siswa. Dengan demikian, program asistensi mengajar dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif strategi pendidikan berbasis wirausaha yang ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Improving students’ understanding of chemistry can be supported by learning resources linked to everyday life, such as integrating chemistry with local wisdom. Yet, many teachers still face challenges in identifying scientific concepts within Sasambo ethnochemistry due to limited knowledge of its types, processes, and meanings. To address this issue, a socialization program was conducted to strengthen teachers’ understanding of the application of Sasambo-based ethnochemistry teaching materials. The program involved 31 chemistry teachers from both public and private high schools in East Lombok Regency, representing diverse age ranges and teaching experiences. The activity received positive responses from participants. Results of the pretest and posttest revealed a significant shift from the low knowledge category to the good and very good categories. This indicates that the socialization effectively enhanced teachers’ comprehension of both the concepts and applications of ethnochemistry in chemistry instruction. These findings highlight that socialization serves not only as a medium for knowledge transfer but also as an initial step in preparing teachers to design contextual teaching resources systematically, rooted in local cultural values.
