Abstract

This study highlights the dynamics of intercultural communication within the environment of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram dormitory, which serves as a residence for students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Located at Jl. Pancaka No. 7B Mataram, this dormitory is an integral part of the IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram campus, accommodating students from various regions of Indonesia, including Java, Bali, Maluku, and Lombok. The primary focus of the research is to identify, observe, and explore the dynamics of intercultural communication, the language proficiency of both students and faculty, and intercultural awareness in shaping harmonious and inclusive multicultural communication among dormitory residents. The research findings indicate that a high level of intercultural awareness among dormitory residents enables them to adapt their communication styles according to their respective cultural backgrounds, thereby reducing the risk of misunderstandings or miscommunication. Furthermore, this level of awareness also strengthens cooperation, tolerance, and harmony within the dormitory environment through activities such as communal work and collective prayers, creating a warm, inclusive, and safe atmosphere for all residents, both students and faculty alike. Observations of various activities conducted in IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram dormitory also illustrate the importance of this intercultural awareness in fostering harmonious and supportive relationships among dormitory residents. Thus, this research provides deep insights into how the dynamics of intercultural communication contribute to the formation of identity and social interaction within the rich cultural diversity context of Indonesia, as reflected in the IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram dormitory.

Abstract

Tri Hita Karana is a Hindu communication philosophy which consists of human relationships with God (Parahyangan), relationships between humans (Pawongan), and human relationships with nature (Palemahan). Tri Hita Karana is implemented by Buwun Sejati Hindus in developing their village as a tourist village. This research is located in the tourist village of Buwun Sejati. The research focus is on the implementation of Tri Hita Karana as a communication philosophy, and its relationship with symbolic interaction theory. The research method is a qualitative descriptive method, where the research findings will be narrated in words. The results of the research show that the implementation of Tri Hita Karana carried out by Buwun Sejati Hindus includes the implementation of the Parahyangan concept in the communal prayer ritual to commemorate the holy Nyepi holiday. The implementation of a life full of tolerance carried out by Hindus as the implementation of pawongan is by maintaining security carried out by pecalang during the Friday prayers of Muslims. The concept of weakening was implemented by the Buwun Sejati Hindu community who were also members of the Hindu religious instructors in tree planting movement activities in the West Lombok area, one of which was in Buwun Sejati Village. The relationship between the Tri Hita Karana concept and the theory of symbolic interaction in the development of the Buwun Sejati natural tourism village includes symbols in culture, meaning in social relations, the process of negotiating meaning, respect for nature, and finally cultural identity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji strategi komunikasi yang diterapkan oleh Public Relations RRI Mataram dalam mensosialisasikan transformasi digital di era konvergensi media. Transformasi ini melibatkan pergeseran dari penyiaran konvensional menuju pemanfaatan platform digital, yang menuntut pendekatan komunikasi yang adaptif, inovatif, dan responsif terhadap perkembangan teknologi. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi. Analisis menggunakan teori konvergensi media, yang menjelaskan integrasi antara media lama dan media baru dalam menyampaikan pesan komunikasi secara efektif kepada khalayak yang semakin beragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi Public Relations RRI Mataram meliputi publikasi informasi melalui media sosial, penyelenggaraan event seperti peluncuran logo baru, penyebaran berita terkini melalui siaran radio dan kanal digital, serta keterlibatan komunitas melalui kerja sama dengan instansi pemerintah, lembaga pendidikan, dan penyiaran iklan layanan masyarakat maupun iklan komersial. Strategi ini mencerminkan integrasi media tradisional dan digital dalam membangun citra serta menjaga eksistensi lembaga. Selain itu, RRI Mataram mengoptimalkan teknologi digital seperti audio-video streaming dan aplikasi RRI Play Go guna meningkatkan kualitas siaran dan memperluas jangkauan audiens. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi komunikasi yang holistik, adaptif, kolaboratif, dan berbasis teknologi menjadi kunci keberhasilan RRI Mataram dalam menghadapi tantangan era digital yang dinamis dan kompetitif.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how the TikTok account Calonarang Taksu implements communication strategies to deliver Hindu religious educational content, and to assess the extent to which these contents effectively enhance the audience’s understanding and spiritual awareness. A qualitative approach using content analysis was employed to examine three purposively selected videos, each with over one million views during the period of January to March 2024. Data were gathered through direct observation and digital documentation, and analyzed using the Uses and Gratifications theoretical framework. The findings indicate that the account conveys educational messages through religious visual symbols, performance dramatization, the use of local languages, and the depiction of sacred moments in Balinese Hindu rituals. The content addresses five dimensions of audience needs: informational, emotional entertainment, personal identity, social connection, and emotional expression. Overall, the content not only entertains but also strengthens cultural identity, fosters spiritual reflection, and facilitates meaningful religious experiences in digital spaces. Therefore, TikTok can be regarded as a potential platform for contextually transforming the delivery of religious teachings in the digital era.

Abstract

This study discusses how Hindu teenagers express their cultural and religious identity through traditional clothing that they display on social media, especially Tik Tok. In today's digital era, social media has become an important place for young people to design and convey their self-image, including through visual presentations such as traditional clothing. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis of four posts from one account of a Hindu teenage girl who shows herself wearing Balinese traditional clothing. The purpose of this study is to understand the form of expressive communication that emerges from the visualization of traditional clothing styles and the symbolic meanings contained therein. This study shows that the traditional clothing styles displayed not only function as cultural preservation, but also as a medium for conveying religious values, ethnic identity, and pride in Balinese Hindu cultural heritage. Tiktok social media in this case allows the spread of these cultural messages to a wider audience by building a positive narrative about the identity of Hindu teenagers amidst the influence of cultural globalization. This study contributes to the understanding of how teenagers use social media as a tool for expressive cultural communication, as well as the importance of maintaining the continuity of traditions through digital media that are relevant to the lives of the younger generation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana manajemen komunikasi yang diterapkan oleh komunitas Sarati Yajna Patni di Kota Mataram mampu mendorong pemberdayaan ekonomi perempuan Hindu. Pendekatan teoritis yang digunakan adalah strategi manajemen POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling). Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi manajemen komunikassi POAC dijalankan secara terstruktur dan kontekstual dalam komunitas ini. Perencanaan dilakukan secara partisipatif dengan mengacu pada kebutuhan dan potensi lokal berbasis budaya keagamaan Hindu. Pengorganisasian dilakukan melalui pembagian kerja yang inklusif berdasarkan keterampilan perempuan, sedangkan tahap pelaksanaan menekankan pada edukasi spiritual dan teknis yang terintegrasi. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui pendekatan reflektif dan spiritual yang memperkuat rasa tanggung jawab kolektif. Komunikasi yang digunakan tidak hanya bersifat interpersonal kelompok, tetapi juga simbolik dan spiritual, menginternalisasi nilai-nilai dharma, karma yoga, dan sevanam ke dalam praktik ekonomi. Pemberdayaan yang dicapai mencakup peningkatan kapasitas personal, kemandirian finansial, dan partisipasi aktif perempuan dalam ranah sosial-keagamaan. Setiap tahap POAC saling terhubung dan memperkuat satu sama lain, menjadikan manajemen komunikasi sebagai pendorong utama transformasi sosial dan ekonomi. Komunitas Sarati Yajna Patni menjadi model nyata bahwa manajemen komunikasi berbasis POAC, bila dipadukan dengan nilai-nilai budaya dan spiritual lokal, mampu menciptakan gerakan pemberdayaan ekonomi perempuan yang berkelanjutan, bermakna, dan transformatif

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pemberitaan moderasi beragama di desa wisata Lombok Barat. Lokasi penelitian yaitu di desa wisata Buwun Sejati kecamatan Narmada kabupaten Lombok Barat. Desa Buwun Sejati dijadikan desa wisata toleransi hal ini termuat dalam pemberitaan media online Mandalika Post, toleransi merupakan salah satu indikator dari moderasi beragama. Fokus penelitian yaitu pada aspek jenis dan proses penulisan berita moderasi beragama di desa wisata Buwun Sejati dalam media online Mandlika Post serta menganalisis implikasi pemberitaan moderasi beragama di desa wisata Buwun Sejati yang dimuat oleh media online Mandalika Post. Penelitian ini dirancang dalam deskriftif kualitatif, dengan menggunakan teori pengolahan berita dan teori Stimulus Organism Respon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis berita dalam pemberitaan moderasi beragama di desa wisata Buwun Sejati Lombok Barat adalah berita depth news, yakni berita mendalam, dimana jurnalis melakukan pengulasan lebih dalam mengenai kondisi desa wisata Buwun Sejati sehingga dicanangkan menjadi desa wisata toleransi. Proses penulisan dengan menggunakan teknik piramida terbalik dilengkapi dengan unsur 5W+1H, yaitu What, Where, When, Who, Why dan How. Implikasi pemberitaan moderasi beragama di desa wisata Buwun Sejati adalah bagaimana kerukunan dan kehidupan yang harmonis sebagai warga negara Indonesia terwujud di desa tersebut hal ini juga dilihat dengan penerapan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dari empat indikator moderasi beragama yaitu Komitmen Kebangsaan, Toleransi, Anti Kekerasan dan Akomodatif terhadap Budaya Lokal

Abstract

Effective communication is a fundamental aspect of human life that plays an important role in building harmonious interpersonal relationships, both in the family, education, and organizational environments. This study aims to analyze the role of effective communication in everyday life, analyze the benefits of effective communication in everyday life, the application of effective communication in the family, school and campus or organizational environment so as to determine the impact of effective communication in various environments based on theory and previous research results. Through the literature study method, it was found that effective communication not only involves delivering clear messages, but also listening with empathy and creating a shared understanding. The benefits of effective communication include misunderstandings that occur when communicating, increasing cooperation in various activities, and achieving common goals. The application of good communication in various contexts, such as family, campus, and society, shows a significant positive impact on the quality of relationships, life satisfaction, and productivity. Therefore, developing effective communication skills is an important investment to achieve personal and professional goals.

Abstract

The death of Juliana Marins, a Brazilian national who fell while hiking Mount Rinjani, received widespread attention from both national and local media, each presenting the event with different framing approaches. This study aims to analyze the news framing of Kompas.com (national media) and Lombokpost.jawapos.com (local media) using a qualitative descriptive method and Robert N. Entman’s framing theory, which includes four elements: defining problems, diagnosing causes, making moral judgments, and suggesting remedies. Eight articles published between June 21 and July 1, 2025, were analyzed to examine differences in perspective. The results show that Kompas.com framed the event from a structural and formal viewpoint, emphasizing institutional roles and critiques of safety procedures. In contrast, Lombokpost.jawapos.com highlighted emotional aspects and human interest stories, focusing on the local guide’s account and volunteer efforts. These differences reflect each media’s editorial orientation and geographical proximity. The study affirms that media framing is influenced by social context, institutional positioning, and narrative strategies toward audiences.

Abstract

Reproductive health is an important aspect in creating a harmonious, prosperous, and happy family. Reproductive health checkups for mothers are not only related to medical aspects, but also have philosophical and spiritual meanings in maintaining family balance. In the Hindu perspective, the concept of Sukhino Bhawantu teaches that individual happiness and prosperity are the basis for creating social harmony. This study aims to describe the importance of reproductive health checkups for mothers in creating healthy, prosperous, and happy families in accordance with the values of Sukhino Bhawantu. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study show that reproductive health checkups can prevent pregnancy complications, support family planning, and strengthen family resilience. Thus, efforts to provide reproductive health checkups for mothers are a form of actualizing the values of Sukhino Bhawantu in Hindu family life.
