Abstract

ABSTRAKSustainable waste management is one of the crucial issues in maintaining cleanliness, environmental health, and quality of life of the community, with unique and often more complex challenges in rural areas that may have limited infrastructure. This study specifically aims to determine and analyze in depth the relationship between the level of community knowledge and the manifestation of their behavior in daily waste management in Yaturaharja Arso X Village, Keerom Regency, Papua. To achieve this goal, this study adopted a quantitative method with a cross-sectional study design to investigate the phenomenon at one point in time. Primary data collection was carried out by distributing structured questionnaires to 45 respondents, who were heads of families or household representatives, selected using purposive sampling techniques based on representativeness and permanent domicile criteria. The questionnaire instrument was designed to measure variables of knowledge levels related to types of waste, impacts, and management methods, as well as variables of waste management behavior. Data analysis revealed a positive and statistically significant relationship between the level of community knowledge regarding the principles of proper waste management and their daily behavior. It was found that respondents with higher knowledge scores consistently demonstrated more responsible practices in terms of sorting organic and inorganic waste, selecting safe disposal methods, and general household waste management efforts, including simple reduction and recycling. In conclusion, these findings underscore that increasing community knowledge and awareness through targeted education programs can be an important and effective intervention strategy in efforts to realize better and more sustainable community-based waste management in rural areas. Pengelolaan sampah yang berkelanjutan menjadi salah satu isu krusial dalam menjaga kebersihan, kesehatan lingkungan, dan kualitas hidup masyarakat, dengan tantangan yang unik dan seringkali lebih kompleks di wilayah pedesaan yang mungkin memiliki keterbatasan infrastruktur. Penelitian ini secara spesifik bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis secara mendalam hubungan antara tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat dengan manifestasi perilaku mereka dalam pengelolaan sampah sehari-hari di Kampung Yaturaharja Arso X, Kabupaten Keerom, Papua. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini mengadopsi metode kuantitatif dengan desain studi cross-sectional guna menginvestigasi fenomena pada satu titik waktu. Pengumpulan data primer dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner terstruktur kepada 45 responden, yang merupakan kepala keluarga atau perwakilan rumah tangga, dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling berdasarkan kriteria keterwakilan dan domisili tetap. Instrumen kuesioner dirancang untuk mengukur variabel tingkat pengetahuan terkait jenis sampah, dampak, dan cara pengelolaan, serta variabel perilaku pengelolaan sampah. Analisis data mengungkapkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan secara statistik antara tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai prinsip-prinsip pengelolaan sampah yang benar dan perilaku sehari-hari mereka. Ditemukan bahwa responden dengan skor pengetahuan yang lebih tinggi secara konsisten menunjukkan praktik yang lebih bertanggung jawab dalam aspek pemilahan sampah organik dan anorganik, pemilihan metode pembuangan yang aman, serta upaya pengelolaan sampah di tingkat rumah tangga secara umum, termasuk pengurangan dan daur ulang sederhana. Kesimpulannya, temuan ini menggarisbawahi bahwa peningkatan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat melalui program edukasi yang tepat sasaran dapat menjadi strategi intervensi yang penting dan efektif dalam upaya mewujudkan pengelolaan sampah berbasis masyarakat yang lebih baik dan berkelanjutan di wilayah pedesaan.

Abstract

The purpose of this Community Service (PKM) activity is to provide science practical training on the material of light properties for grade V of SD Al Ihsan Yapis Kotaraja. Practical work is a learning process in the form of observation through experiments that aims to equip students to quickly understand theory and practice. Science learning should not only be given through theory, but also apply practical methods so that students can easily understand the concept of the material. This is in line with the development of the era and technology and the demands of 21st century learning that must be possessed by students, one of which is critical thinking skills. Practical methods can be applied to science subjects because students' skills are through the science process. This community service activity uses lecture, question and answer, discussion, and practical methods. Based on the results of direct observation and evaluation, the science practical training carried out by the PKM Lecturer Team has a positive impact on students, including; 1) Students are skilled in using simple science practical tools; 2) Increase the attitude of mutual cooperation when doing practical work; 3) Have a confident attitude through presentation of practical results.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity was titled "Training on Making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) from Banana Peel Waste" at MA Yaa Bunayya Jayapura. The main objective of this PKM activity was to raise students' awareness of environmental protection by making liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from banana peel waste. This community service activity used a participatory approach, actively involving students in every stage of the activity. The methods used were training, lectures, Q&A sessions, group discussions, and presentations. A project-based design was used in this activity because it involved the development of specific projects that could help students, teachers, and the school community through waste management. The results of the PKM activity indicated that training on making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) from banana peel waste can be an effective way to increase students' awareness and skills in environmentally friendly waste management. Thus, this training can benefit students, the school, and the surrounding environment, ensuring a sustainable human life free from banana peel waste. This training also serves as a good example for the community to develop sustainable waste management practices.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to integrate mathematical concepts with Papuan local wisdom through an ethnomathematics approach. This program was implemented at the Ayapo Reading House, Ayapo Traditional Village, Sentani and involved 30 students consisting of grades 4-6 of Elementary School (SD). The learning method used exploration of traditional Papuan arts such as wood carving (Ohote), bark painting (Khombow), local batik motifs (Hote Hiloi, and Yoniki) to introduce the concept of patterns and symmetry in mathematics. A multisensory approach was applied through clapping activities, rhythmic tapping, and pattern drawing exercises. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' interest in mathematics and their ability to identify patterns and symmetry in Papuan culture. As many as 94% of students became prouder of their cultural heritage after understanding that traditional Papuan art contains complex mathematical concepts. This shows that ethnomathematics learning not only improves numeracy literacy but also strengthens students' cultural identity. This program has successfully proven the effectiveness of local cultural integration in STEM learning, especially for education in 3T (Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged) areas.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the integration of Papuan local wisdom through the activity of making ongol-ongol food from sago in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in Grade V of SD Al-Ihsan Yapis Kotaraja. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research subjects consisted of grade V teachers, grade V students, and the principal who participated in the learning process activities based on Papuan local wisdom. The data collection process through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the learning process of making ongol-ongol from sago can increase students' understanding of the material of changes in the state of matter, the concept of food, and increase a sense of pride in Papuan local wisdom. In addition, the implementation of the integration of Papuan local wisdom supports the learning of IPAS to be more contextual, meaningful, strengthens the character values ​​of mutual cooperation, and students' attitudes of responsibility. The integration of Papuan local wisdom through education is expected to be sustainable and developed in the IPAS learning process to create student learning experiences.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan menganalisis implementasi pembiasaan karakter peduli lingkungan melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pada kelas rendah sekolah dasar. Karakter peduli lingkungan merupakan aspek penting dalam pembentukan kepribadian siswa, terutama di tingkat pendidikan dasar. Kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dianggap sebagai salah satu sarana efektif untuk mendorong pembentukan karakter peduli lingkungan. Metode penelitian ini memanfaatkan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen. Subjek penelitian melibatkan guru, siswa, dan orang tua di beberapa sekolah dasar yang memiliki kegiatan ekstrakurikuler terkait lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi pembiasaan karakter peduli lingkungan melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pada kelas rendah sekolah dasar dapat meningkatkan kesadaran siswa terhadap pentingnya menjaga lingkungan. Guru berfungsi sebagai fasilitator dalam mengarahkan kegiatan yang melibatkan partisipasi aktif siswa. Peran orang tua juga memiliki signifikansi dalam mendukung penerapan ini dengan melibatkan diri dalam kegiatan sekolah dan memberikan dukungan kepada anak-anak mereka. Tindakan tersebut perlu dimulai dari tingkat dasar untuk membentuk dan menanamkan nilai-nilai kepada peserta didik di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how to create a chemistry e-module based on Papuan local wisdom, develop a chemistry e-module based on Papuan local wisdom, the feasibility of a chemistry e-module based on Papuan local wisdom, and improve student learning outcomes using chemistry e-modules based on local Papuan wisdom on colloidal materials. The research method used is Research and Development (R and D). This research was conducted in class XI IPA 1 of SMA YPK Diaspora Kotaraja Jayapura with a sample size of 30 students. The research results show that the chemistry e-module based on local Papuan wisdom on colloidal materials is very suitable for use as teaching material with an average validator assessment of 87%. The use of chemistry e-modules based on local Papuan wisdom can improve student learning outcomes with the n-Gain test obtaining an average of 0.55 in the medium category.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the improvement of students' critical thinking skills through the use of Papuan local wisdom-based chemistry e-modules on colloid material. Using the Research and Development (R & D) method, this study focuses on the development and implementation of e-modules that integrate chemistry content with the Papuan cultural and environmental context. The research sample consisted of 30 students of class XI IPA 1 SMA YPK Diaspora Kotaraja, Jayapura. Data collection was carried out before and after the implementation of the e-module to measure changes in critical thinking skills. The data analysis technique used the N-Gain test to determine the level of improvement in students' critical thinking skills quantitatively. The results of the N-Gain analysis showed an average increase of 0.48, which was categorized as a moderate increase. These findings indicate that Papuan local wisdom-based chemistry e-modules have the potential to be effective learning media to improve students' critical thinking skills on colloid material. The implication of this study is that the integration of local wisdom in learning materials can increase the relevance and appeal of the material for students, thereby encouraging deeper and more critical thinking. Menggunakan metode Research and Development (R & D), penelitian ini berfokus pada pengembangan dan implementasi e-modul yang mengintegrasikan konten kimia dengan konteks budaya dan lingkungan Papua. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 30 peserta didik kelas XI IPA 1 SMA YPK Diaspora Kotaraja, Jayapura. Pengumpulan data dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah implementasi e-modul untuk mengukur perubahan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji N-Gain untuk menentukan tingkat peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik secara kuantitatif. Hasil analisis N-Gain menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 0,48, yang dikategorikan sebagai peningkatan sedang. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa e-modul kimia berbasis kearifan lokal Papua memiliki potensi sebagai media pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi koloid. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa integrasi kearifan lokal dalam materi pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan relevansi dan daya tarik materi bagi peserta didik, sehingga mendorong pemikiran yang lebih mendalam dan kritis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of interactive e-module chemistry teaching materials on colloid material based on Papuan local wisdom. The research method used is Research and Development (R and D). The research sample was conducted in class XI IPA 1 SMA YPK Diaspora Kotaraja Jayapura with a total of 30 students. The results of the study indicate that: the feasibility of interactive e-module chemistry teaching materials on colloid material based on Papuan local wisdom based on material validators obtained an average of 88% with the category "Very Valid/Very Practical", media validators obtained an average of 89% with the category "Very Valid/Very Practical", student responses in limited scale trials obtained an average of 90% with the category "Very Feasible", student responses in large scale trials obtained an average of 87% with the category "Very Feasible", and chemistry subject teacher responses obtained an average of 83% with the category "Very Feasible". The recapitulation of the value of the feasibility aspect of interactive e-module chemistry teaching materials on colloid material based on Papuan local wisdom is 87% with the category "Very Feasible" for use in schools. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan bahan ajar interaktif e-modul pembelajaran kimia pada materi koloid berbasis kearifan lokal Papua. Metode penelitian menggunakan Research and Development (R and D). Sampel penelitian dilaksanakan di kelas XI IPA 1 SMA YPK Diaspora Kotaraja Jayapura dengan jumlah 30 peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: kelayakan bahan ajar interaktif e-modul pembelajaran kimia pada materi koloid berbasis kearifan lokal Papua berdasarkan validator materi memperoleh rerata sebesar 88% dengan kategori “Sangat Valid/Sangat Praktis”, validator media memperoleh rerata sebesar 89% dengan kategori “Sangat Valid/Sangat Praktis”, respons peserta didik uji skala terbatas memperoleh rerata sebesar 90% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”, respons peserta didik uji skala luas memperoleh rerata sebesar 87% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”, dan respons guru mata pelajaran kimia memperoleh rerata sebesar 83% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”. Hasil rekapitulasi nilai aspek kelayakan bahan ajar interaktif e-modul pembelajaran kimia pada materi koloid berbasis kearifan lokal Papua sebesar 87% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak” digunakan di sekolah.

Abstract

This research focuses on efforts to strengthen students' scientific literacy through the integration of areca nut ethnoscience in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in elementary schools. Areca nut culture (Areca Catechu) is a crucial part of the lives of the Papuan people and has great potential as a contextual and meaningful learning resource in science learning. Implementing an ethnoscience approach through the use of areca palm plants can bridge scientific concepts with local cultural practices so that students do not feel strange during the learning process. Students can visually understand the function of plant organs and know areca nut as a biotic component (living creature) which has an essential role in the ecosystem. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that the use of areca palm plants in the science and science learning process has succeeded in strengthening students' understanding of the concept of biodiversity, the structure and function of plant organs, and the reciprocal relationship between humans and the environment. Cultural integration in learning also strengthens students' identity and fosters a sense of pride in local Papuan wisdom. This research concludes that the integration of areca nut ethnoscience in science and science learning is effective as a strategy to strengthen local culture-based scientific literacy.
