Abstract

This article describes the actions of resistance carried out by groups of adherents of "theology of death". Death theology is a theology that asks to die, but does not dare to live, outside us is wrong. Indonesia as a heterogeneous country is certainly not friendly with theology of death. If this theology develops rapidly, it will not be closed to spend Pancasila as the basis of a state that has umbrella for religion which is commonly prepared to hang from the pillars of history. Death theology received a response from contemporary Muslim theologians, one of the figures being Asghar Ali Engineer from India. Engginner's ideas are famous for "liberation theology". Engineers offer three praxis agreements in theology, namely: the concept of monotheism, the concept of faith, and the concept of jihad. These three concepts lead to the values of appreciation. This finding could be implicated in the terminology of Engginner's liberation theology as an attempt to refute the inhuman death theology with this one planet. Keywords: Death Theology, Ali Liberation Theology, Engineer Asghar, Pluralism

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the efforts of working parents to fulfill their children's religious education in the family. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. observation, interview and documentation methods. Data can be obtained from the field, referring to books in the library and journals/articles. Data analysis goes through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This research found the main point, namely that parents are the first and main people responsible for educating children in the family environment. In particular, the responsibilities of working parents for their children's religious education include: Responsibilities in the areas of faith, worship and morals. Parents' efforts to fulfill their children's religious education needs include: Choosing their children's school, accompanying their children, providing facilities and involving their children in TPA/TPQ. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui upaya orang tua yang bekerja dalam memenuhi pendidikan agama anaknya dalam keluarga. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. metode observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Data dapat diperoleh dari lapangan, mengacu pada buku-buku di perpustakaan dan jurnal/artikel. Analisis data melalui tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Penelitian ini menemukan pokok permasalahannya, yaitu orang tua merupakan penanggung jawab pertama dan utama dalam mendidik anak di lingkungan keluarga. Secara khusus, tanggung jawab orang tua yang bekerja terhadap pendidikan agama anaknya meliputi: Tanggung jawab di bidang aqidah, ibadah dan akhlak. Upaya orang tua dalam memenuhi kebutuhan pendidikan agama anaknya antara lain: Memilih sekolah anaknya, mendampingi anaknya, menyediakan fasilitas dan melibatkan anaknya di TPA/TPQ.

Abstract

The problem in learning can obstruct and slow down the learning process, which can become an obstacle to achieving learning objectives. This study aims to identify the problems faced by students with a high school background in the Islamic Religious Education study program in learning Fiqh Mawaris, as well as the efforts made by both students and Islamic Law lecturers to address these issues. The method used is descriptive qualitative with informants including the head of the Islamic Religious Studies Department, two Islamic Law lecturers, and ten students from the Islamic Religious Education program. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. Data validity was tested using source triangulation and technique triangulation. This study found three main problems in the Fiqh Mawaris learning process among students with a high school background: 1) difficulty in understanding the concepts of inheritance classification and distribution, 2) difficulty in analyzing inheritance distribution cases, and 3) challenges faced by students due to their high school educational background. The efforts made by the students to overcome these problems include: 1) writing and memorizing Fiqh Mawaris concepts, 2) seeking additional learning resources, and 3) discussing and studying together. Meanwhile, the lecturers addressed these problems by: 1) delivering material in stages, 2) using discussion and question-and-answer methods, and 3) conducting evaluations and providing feedback to students. The problems in Fiqh Mawaris learning for students with a high school background can be overcome through the active efforts of students seeking additional understanding and through a more structured and interactive teaching approach from the lecturers.

Abstract

Pondok Pesantren Sabilul Jannah tengah menghadapi masalah manajemen, hal itu ditandai dengan munculnya berbagai persoalan, di antaranya: terjadinya kekosongan pimpinan, pengelolaan keuangan yang tidak transparan, hingga proses perekrutan tenaga pengajar yang tidak terbuka. Permasalahan di atas merupakan tugas urgen untuk dicarikan jalan keluarnya agar proses pembelajaran di pondok pesantren Sabilul Jannah berjalan dengan lancar. Pondok Pesantren Sabilul Jannah berlokasi di Kampung Timbulun, Kenagarian Aur Duri Surantih, Kecamatan Sutera, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini berupaya membantu mitra keluar dari masalah-masalah tersebut. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan untuk mencapai target luaran yaitu: Survey, Focus Group Discussion, Pelatihan, dan Pendampingan. Selain itu tim pengabdian juga menentukan prosedur dan langkah-langkah solutif dalam pemecahan masalah. Dalam pelaksanaan program melibatkan unsur pimpinan, guru-guru, serta pakar-pakar dalam bidangnya yang berpengalaman dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat, yakni pakar dalam manajemen organisasi pesantren. Adapun hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini  adalah: Pertama,  mitra mampu menyusun Statuta Pesantren. Kedua, mitra mampu menyusun Rencana Induk Pengembangan (RIP). Ketiga, mitra mampu menyusun Struktur Organisasi dan Tata Kelola dengan baik.

Abstract

One of the strategic steps to realize religious moderation is through the Merdeka Student Exchange program abbreviated as PMM. The purpose of this research is to analyze and describe how the process of strengthening religious moderation through the PMM program at Padang State University. Religious moderation based on the PMM program is a point of emphasis and an aspect of novelty that has not been revealed in previous research. This research is a field research using qualitative methods. The results found that strengthening religious moderation in PMM students was carried out in three stages: First, the Module Lecturer compiles the logical framework of the Nusantara Module as a reference in carrying out 16 module activities consisting of 8 diversity activities, 2 inspiration activities, 5 reflection activities, and 1 social contribution activity. Second, to strengthen PMM students' understanding of religious moderation, the PMM UNP implementation team organized various activities including learning to get along with the limau baronggeh customary tradition, visiting minority communities in Padang, learning local wisdom with religious and traditional leaders of Kubu Gadang Village. Third, the contribution of Padang State University in strengthening the religious moderation of PMM students is in the form of inserting moderation values in each activity, providing maximum service to all religious believers, and facilitating various activities that support the strengthening of religious moderation.

Abstract

This article focuses on the main concepts put forward by Ismail Raji' al-Faruqi related to the Islamization and integration of science. The method used in this research is a descriptive-analytical method with a contextualization approach. The primary data used in this research are the works of Ismail Raji' al-Faruqi. While the secondary data in this study are books, journal articles, and other websites that discuss the thoughts of Ismail Raji 'al-Faruqi. The results showed that for al-Faruqi, the Islamization of science is not only limited to adding Islamic elements to modern science but also involves a process of epistemological and methodological transformation. This is done to ensure that the science produced is under Islamic values, principles, and teachings. One important aspect in the Islamization of science according to al-Faruqi is the emphasis on a holistic perspective. Al-Faruqi explains that Islam offers a comprehensive view of reality, which includes spiritual, intellectual, and practical dimensions. The integration of science is an integral part of the Islamic vision of knowledge, which emphasizes the unity between science, religion, and morality. In addition, the integration of science in an Islamic perspective also includes the understanding that all knowledge comes from Allah SWT. Therefore, there is no separation between secular and religious knowledge in Islam. By emphasizing the importance of integrating Islamic principles with modern science, where tawhid is the philosophical foundation, al-Faruqi has paved the way for the development of relevant and progressive Islamic thought in the current era.

Abstract

This article explores the discourse on Islamic feminism through the perspective of H. Agus Salim. Using a descriptive-analytical method and an Islamic feminist approach rooted in harmony and justice—distinct from Western notions of equality—the study examines Salim’s works as primary sources, supported by secondary materials such as books, journal articles, and online resources discussing his thought. The findings reveal: (1) Salim advocates for equality in rights and responsibilities between men and women, particularly in education; (2) he approaches the hijab with a contextual and historical understanding, considering asbab al-nuzul; (3) he views the veil not merely as a piece of cloth but as a potential symbol of oppression; (4) he favors monogamy over polygamy, emphasizing the challenges of achieving justice and the historical specificity of certain rulings; and (5) he acknowledges the inevitability of women assuming leadership roles. This study highlights Salim’s nuanced stance on gender issues within an Islamic framework.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the pessimistic philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer—a 19th century German philosopher. The article is presented in a qualitative form using descriptive, interpretive and analytical methods. Schopenhaeur's philosophy of pessimism talks about world life as a place that gives birth to suffering. Suffering arises from the existence of desires. Will is a form of deficiency and the presence of want is suffering. As long as humans still have desires in their lives, humans will not be able to feel happiness. Human nature itself is a will, so achieving true happiness is something that is impossible for humans. However, man can rid himself of suffering by engaging in aesthetic contemplation and leading an ascetic life.

Abstract

Jamaluddin al-Afghani (1838-1897) is one of the Islamic modernists who is famous for his slogan of Pan-Islamism. Apart from his discourse on Islam and politics, al-Afghani also developed a system of rational theology. This article will explore al-Afghani's rational theology, especially about reason and revelation and human actions. This article employs a qualitative, explorative-analytical method. This article concludes that in al-Afghani’s theology, reason and revelation are two sources of knowledge that do not contradict each other, which both lead to the truth. Regarding human action, al-Afghani maintains that human being has the power to determine what they want to achieve.

Abstract

Ali Abdul Raziq is a controversial Islamic thinker, especially when he put forward the concept of a secular state. Ali Abdul Raziq’s secularism which emphasizes the totality of his teachings is a political thought that deserves further study to find out the strengths and weaknesses of the arguments put forward by these Islamic political thinkers. According to Ali Abdul Raziq, the reality of Islamic history does not provide the necessity for a form of political organization called the khilafah and its leader to be called the caliph. The ideal state according to Ali Abdul Raziq is a country based on universal humanism that fights for its people, democracy and social justice, namely a secular state for Muslims and non-Muslims who live in the country.
