Abstract

Several previous studies related to mathematical connection abilities and GeoGebra-assisted project-based learning models, but this research focuses on improving students' mathematical connection ability in the Integral Calculus course.  This study examines the improvement of mathematical connection abilities through a project-based learning model assisted by GeoGebra. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent multiple group design. The population is students of the Mathematics Education Study Program at the University in West Java, Indonesia. 1A and 1B students, which are used as samples. The technique of taking the research subject uses purposive sampling. The instrument consisted of a mathematical connection ability test with three essay questions. The test in this study used a pretest and posttest students' mathematical connection ability and the Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT). The data analysis technique used an independent sample t-test and a two-way ANOVA test. The results showed that the improvement of students' mathematical connection ability who obtained the GeoGebra-assisted project-based learning model was better than students who obtained the project-based learning model. There is no interaction effect of learning models and cognitive styles on the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical connection abilities. The implication of this research is to provide significant changes in student learning habits in integral calculus courses to use technology and foster high self-regulated learning. This research has implications for universities implementing project-based learning models combined with other technology applications in other subjects.

Abstract

Abstract The study aims at examining the improvement of students' mathematical literacy skills at the end of learning program after using Google Classroom (GC), analyzing students' final mathematical literacy skills using GC, and exploring students’ respond in learning of using GC. One-Group Pretest-Posttest used as the design of this study. The population in this study was students of class X of SMA Negeri 1 Karangtengah Cianjur, the sampel was 20 students of X IPA 1. The sampling process is carried out using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in the form of 3 items of mathematical literacy skill on trigonometric comparison material. The result shows that there is an improve in students' mathematical literacy skills after using GC. The achievement of indicators of students' mathematical literacy skills with GC media as a whole obtained a percentage of 71% which is included in the good criteria, with the highest achievement on the indicators of formulating problems. Students’ response towards learning with GC as a whole earned a percentage of 69.58%, which means most of the students responded positively. Based on this research, it can be concluded that there is an improve in students' mathematical literacy skills after using GC, the achievement of indicators of students' mathematical literacy skills with GC is in good criteria, and students' responses in learning mathematics with GC media are mostly positive. Keywords: Google Classroom, Mathematical Literacy, Trigonometry AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa di akhir pembelajaran setelah menggunakan media Google Classroom (GC), menganalisis kemampuan literasi matematis akhir siswa dengan menggunakan media GC, dan menganalisis bagaimana respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media GC. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Karangtengah Cianjur, dengan sampel yang berjumlah 20 orang siswa. Proses pengambilan sampelnya dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik sampling purposive. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa 3 butir soal kemampuan literasi matematis pada materi perbandingan trigonometri. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa setelah menggunakan media GC. Pencapaian indikator kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dengan media GC secara keseluruhan diperoleh persentase sebesar 71% yang termasuk kedalam kriteria baik, dengan capaian tertinggi pada indikator merumuskan masalah. Respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan media GC secara keseluruhan diperoleh persentase sebesar 69,58% yang artinya sebagian besar siswa merespons positif. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa setelah menggunakan media GC, dan pencapaian indikator kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dengan media GC berada pada kriteria baik, serta respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan media GC sebagian besar positif.Kata kunci: Google Classroom, Literasi Matematis, Trigonometri

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of mathematical communication ability of students in learning that uses a scientific approach, find out the mistakes that are often made by students and which are the causes of students making mistakes. The subjects in this study were students of class XI MIPA 3 MAN 1 Cianjur. This research method is descriptive qualitative and the instruments used consist of tests of mathematical communication ability and interviews. The results of this study are students' mathematical communication ability in explaining ideas, situations, and mathematical relationships in writing with real objects, pictures, graphics and algebra by 34%. Mathematical communication ability of students in explaining ideas, situations, and mathematical relationships in writing with real objects, pictures, graphics and algebra by 25%. The ability of students' mathematical communication in expressing everyday events in language or mathematical symbols or composing a mathematical model of an event is 30%. Mistakes that are often made by students in this study are concept errors, operating errors, and lack of accuracy. As for what causes students to make mistakes is due to factors of forgetfulness, lack of accuracy, difficulty in learning and less study time at home.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan ketika adanya musibah yang menggemparkan dunia dengan adanya virus yang menular, yaitu Covid-19. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan Aplikasi Edmodo terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Metode yang digunakan untuk penelitian adalah Pre-Experimental Design atau desain eksperimen yang belum sungguh-sungguh dengan desain penelitian The One Group Pretest - Posttest Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Ciranjang tahun ajaran 2020-2021. Dengan melibatkan sampel sebanyak 24 orang yang berasal dari satu kelas yaitu XI MIPA 2 yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.

Abstract

AbstrakLatar belakang penelitian ini yaitu masih rendahnya kemampuan literasi matematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui apakah model pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI) yang juga sebagai alternatif solusi permasalahan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa. Metode penelitian adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent group pretest-postest design. Instrumen berbentuk tes literasi matematis berupa tes awal (pretest) dan tes akhir (posttest). Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Cianjur tahun ajaran 2018/2019 yang tersebar dalam sembilan kelas, sedangkan sampelnya dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling sebanyak dua kelas yaitu kelas VIII D sebanyak 27 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diberikan perlakuan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBI), dan VIII C sebanyak 25 siswa sebagai kelas control dengan pembelajaran biasa. Berdasarkan penelitian diketahui bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dengan model pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI).  Peningkatan tersebut lebih baik jika dibandingkan dengan peningkatan pada siswa dengan pembelajaran biasa.Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Literasi Matematis, Problem Based Instruction, PBI.  Mathematical Literacy Ability Students through Problem Based Instruction Learning ModelsAbstractThe background of this research is low mathematical literacy ability. The purpose of this research is to find out the differences in increasing students’ mathematical literacy ability between those who use the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model as an alternative solution to the problem and who use ordinary learning. A method in this research is quasi-experimental with nonequivalent group pretest-posttest design. The instruments are a mathematical literacy instrument consisting of the initial test (pretest) and the final test (posttest). The population in this study were all students at SMP Negeri 5 Cianjur in year 2018/2019 that spread into 9th grade, while the samples chosen with purposive sampling technique were two classes, namely VIII D class as the experimental class which is given Problem Based Learning (PBI) and VIII C as the control class with ordinary learning. Based on the tests of mathematical literacy abilities that have been analyzed it is found that there are differences in mathematical literacy skills students who applied the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model is were better than ordinary learning. The increase is better when compared to the increase in students with ordinary learning.Keywords: Mathematical literacy ability, Problem Based Instruction, PBI.

Abstract

AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan bukti empirik peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving lebih baik daripada siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran biasa, untuk mengetahui bagaimana sikap siswa terhadap model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving, dan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan antara sikap siswa dengan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experimental. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di MTs At-tarbiyah dengan sampel kelas eksperimen 24 siswa dan kelas kontrol 20 siswa, dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Kelas eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving dan kelas kontrol menggunakan modell pembelajaran biasa. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving lebih baik daripada siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran biasa, sikap siswa terhadap model  pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving positif, dan tidak terdapat hubungan antara sikap siswa dengan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Abstract (Use of Creative Problem Solving Learning Model to Improve Students Mathematical Problem Solving bility)The aims of this research are to get empirical evidence of enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability which students use Creative Problem Solving learning model better than students use ordinary learning model, to know how students’ attitude toward Creative Problem Solving learning model, and to know the correlation between students’ attitude and enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability. The research method uses Quasi Experimental with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this research are grade VIII students at MTs At-tarbiyah, with a sample of, 24 students for the experimental class and 20 students for the control class are determined by purposive sampling. The experimental class uses the Creative Problem Solving learning model and the control class uses the ordinary learning model. Based on the results and discussions, it can be concluded that enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability of students that use Creative Problem Solving learning model better than students use ordinary learning model, students’ attitude toward Creative Problem Solving learning model is positive, and there is no correlation between students’ attitude and enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability.

Abstract

The smart phone can be used for various functions, one of which is multimedia of education. However, it is still very rare for smart phone users with Android operating system especially high school students who use their smartphones as multimedia of education. This study aims to develop multimedia of mathematics education based on Android with the name JiMath for high school students and to determine the response of students and the level of effectiveness of the multimedia education mathematics developed. The subjects of the experiments as well as the targets in this study were the students of class X IPA 6 SMAN 2 Cianjur which amounted to 32 students. The method used is research and development with ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The result of the research shows that the multimedia of mathematics education based on android developed by the media expert meets the Very Eligible category with the percentage reaching 81%. Meanwhile, according to the material expert meets the Eligible category with a percentage of 65.83%. Then for the effectiveness of multimedia education developed according to respondents meet the Eligible category with the percentage reached 74.1%. So that the multimedia of mathematics education based on Android is effectively used as a supporting multimedia of education for students who can use anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine wether the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills using the IMPROVE learning model is better than the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills using the conventional method, and also to find out the students' thinking habits towards mathematics learning through the IMPROVE learning model. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Bojongpicung grade VII of the 2018-2019 school year. The method used is a quasi experiment method with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design research. This research involved a sample of 64 students divided into two classes. One class as the experimental group that received learning with the IMPROVE learning model and then another one as the control group that was used the ordinary learning method. Sampling is done by purposive sampling technique. To get the data of the research results, the researcher used a mathematical communication ability test instrument and questionnaire for students' thinking habits. Data processing enhances students' mathematical communication skills using Mann Whitney, habitual data thinking students use the percentage of answers for each student. Based on data analysis, the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills using the IMPROVE learning model is better than increasing students' mathematical communication skills using conventional method, and students' thinking habits are positive towards the learning mathematics using the IMPROVE learning model.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the calculus teaching material using GeoGebra, knowing the results of expert validation in terms of multimedia and material, and knowing the effectiveness of using calculus teaching material using GeoGebra. The research method used is research and development. The research subjects were 155 students in Departement of Mathematics Education at Universitas Suryakancana. The results of the validation of media experts using the Kendall test, sig. = 0.062 > 0.05 (Ho accepted) means that the calculus teaching material using GeoGebra is feasible to use. The results of the validation of the material using the Kendall test, sig. = 0.065 > 0.05 (Ho accepted) means that the material content is appropriate. The results of tests on 155 students in Departement of Mathematics Education at Universitas Suryakancana, an average percentage of 78% of students answered strongly agree and 15% answered agreed, meaning that calculus teaching material using GeoGebra is effectively used.

Abstract

The purpose of this study are to find out whether increasing students 'mathematical connection ability with learning using the SAVI approach is better with conventional learning, to find out how students' mathematical connection skills with learning the SAVI approach, and to find out a positive relationship between students 'attitudes towards learning using the SAVI approach with increasing students' mathematical connection abilities. This research method is a quasi experiment that tests the use of SAVI approach to the experimental class and conventional learning in the control class. Sampling using purposive sampling. The selected sample is X MIA 1 as the experimental class and X MIA 4 as the control class. The instrument used was a test instrument for mathematical connection ability and a non-attitude scale questionnaire test. The material in this study was Trigonometry. The results of this study are: (1) improvement of students' mathematical connection ability with the SAVI approach is better than with conventional learning, (2) students' mathematical connection skills with learning with the SAVI approach are good, (3) there is no positive relationship between students 'attitudes towards learning with the SAVI approach with increasing students' mathematical connection abilities.
